Morning TRIBE Iâd tell you about the fun Iâve had with my computer for the last 2 hours but there might be women and children around.Bend your ear close and Iâll scream.
Looks like Iâm too late again and everyoneâs gone for awhile. So Iâll just pick and graze on the fantastic breakfast menu. Iâm glad thereâs plenty of ice cream and my super huge extra large chocolate milk.
Greetings to the TRIBE.
Lew you have my sympathy. My computer can be very âŠumâŠ. uncooperative at times also.Sometimes I just feel like firing it out the window.
Hello MontanaLady. Iâm glad you can join us. Iâd just like to warn you to be wary of some of our members. They are very nice but dangerous with Docâscoffee. ;-)
For once itâs going to be a bright & sunny day here in Houston - 95 and well over 105 with the heat index at least. For the weekend weâre expected to be 100. Who knows what the heat index will be.
Good morning, Tribe. Itâs time to fortify my self for a long day of gardening. Those pesky tomatoes need to be tied up again. And itâs time to attack those weeds.
So, LW18, Iâll just have a thermos of Docâs Nuclear Coffee and a big straw!
Already been out getting some supplies for a couple of jobs here today. Not too busy though. Should be a decent day work wise and the weather is supposed to be a beautiful 78°.
Good morning, tribe!
Should be in the upper 90âs here today, Sat & Sun - over 100 for Mon & Tues. Iâm glad my work is inside in air-conditioned comfort.
Iâm like Doc - Only golf Iâve done is minature. I might have tried to drive a ball on my parentsâ front lawn, with my brotherâs clubs, but had hard enough time not striking out. Croquet is more my speed.
Nice chatting someone with all itâs lunch time and thank goodness itâs Friday. I canât see gocomics at work depts monitor internet. But thatâs fine.
Wish I had this for lunch.
Itâs 11:19 am here have to get busy then change. Hope all have a nice visit. Donât like the hot weather.
Rmom - The only thing I know about smoke deiectors is that they are supposed to be replaced every 10 years. (for more sales?) I found that out when my 25 year old stsrted going off. Replaced it and everything is fine now.
Sojo - Thanks! That does help. There was a lightning strike last night, and the smoke detectors started chirping. I bought new batteries, and that didnât fix the problem. I havenât figured out where exactly the bolt hit, but it was close! The smoke detectors are about 15 years old. We were checking the attic & roof to see if something was burning there. Never did smell smoke, and Iâve got a sensitive nose.
I didnât know they are supposed to be replaced every ten years. I do know you should vacuum them out about once a month to keep the sensors clean. They are very loud and my Gmaâs is wired in so I canât just take out the battery until the smoke clears. So I have to wave something in front of it when my food is done cooking. Batteries changed every either six monthes or year? If you donât use it regularly to tell you your food is done cooking you should also test it once a month by lighting a couple matches underneath it and blowing them out. Although now they do come with that test button. Actually though it is more reassuring to know that it will go off for smoke than pushing a little red button.
Luv - Even though they are hard wired, you should be able to unhook a âquick connectorâ to remove it from the wiring. I had to have my sons take down all the detectors, because my hubby says they can âcommunicate with each otherâ when they are hard wired. Changed the batteries, and they still either chirped, or the light flashed and it made a ticking sound like a bomb. We donât replace batteries before they start chirping usually, because with the hard wire, they donât use as much battery juice. I donât think Iâve ever set one off by burning anything. We do have an exhaust fan over the stove that is ducted into the attic, so that takes care of smoke produced by stuff on the burners. Vacuum? Youâve got to be kidding! Me?
That is what I learned but it was a long time ago apparently dust collects in them making them less efficient. Sounds like you know more than me about them though.
Sojo - It didnât go off like an alarm - just started beeping & flashing. I hit the âhushâ button, it was quiet for a few minutes, and then started ticking & flashing. Considering the age of them, I think weâll be buying new ones.
Rmom - I know when I looked at them there are two types now, each with advantages and disadvantages. Some expensive ones have both types together. Then thereâs hard wirred, batteriey, both. Seperate ones and ones that connect with each other (like it sounds like you have), and ones that connect to alarm systems. I donât remember anything about them now, just replaced mine with the same thing I had. It might take some thinking on what to do or just try to replace what to have.
Rmom, thatâs good to hear. I donât go back for a couple more weeks. So far the last changes they made are working. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for both of us! :^)
Sojo - We have an alarm system, but not monitored by an alarm company. It is nice having chimes on the doors (& at least some of the windows, canât remember if all have them). Our kids were 2 & 5 when we moved in, so I liked knowing if they snuck out. I figure Iâll make my hubby pick them out - he did the wiring for the house.
Terry - Iâm glad youâre doing better! I may end up on another med, so hope if I do, that there arenât any nasty side effects. Also, theyâre going to do more blood tests.
Whenever Kab shows upâŠ.
Check out this option for getting more education. I havenât been able to talk my sons into checking out that option, but it looks like it might be a good way to go.
Hello to you too Kab, and all. Someone please explain to me about the menu each dayâŠwhyâŠthus and soâŠ.etc.
This cartoon site is an active one and Doc Toonâs coffee is just the energizer neededâŠ..
Welcome, hope & joy!
The first poster of the day is supposed to provide a virtual breakfast. I guess since turnover happens around 10pm, Ladywolfâs time, she likes including more than the typical breakfast fare.
Other rules are:
Play nice.
No politics or religion. (The ban on religious discussions is on more of the type that leads to argument, not a ban on âpraying for youâ, etc. If you want to discuss theology, go to For Heavenâs Sake.)
â Lonewolfâ - I have a new Goku that I may use, might start changing every now and then for fun but keep the same theme for easy ID like you, Doc, Grog, etc..
Rmom - No. I donât watch the local news often but Iâll check it today, thanks! BTW - on intelicast the forcast temp. is being lowered every day! Sun. was changed from 103° to 99° now 98°. Mon. & Tues. from 102° & 101° to 100° to woops just checked S. M. T. is 98°, 102°, 99° (Mon. & Tues. went back up a degree or two). :-)
Sojo - I just get my news via the internet. I would have posted a link, but didnât find a great page to link.
I donât put too much faith in the weather forecast until it is 48 hours or less - usually less.
Rmom - I may start doing that also. I know Cox puts local news on but has so many other things I donât have them as my home page. The newspaper online might also be a poss. I know that when I went to Montana and later to Wis. I read the local papers online a few weeks before to understand the local area better before I got there!
Terry - Starting to think maybe some of it is bp related. I was feeling pretty woozy, and ate some cheddar cheese & potato chips to get some salt in my system. It seemed to help.
RMOM Thanks for repeating the rules but I canât be nice today. Since my easy to install additions to my computer, HP has hit Microsoft, who hit Netgear ,who hit Samsung, who destroyed Panasonic. After brutal beatings for two days with my index finger, I put these children in line I donât do nice. The second floor window was a serious option. Repeat, I donât know nice.
Smoke detectors. Out of necessity I installed wired. I was cooking a porter house and didnât hear the alarm. After hitting the alarm with a broom while my steak further burned, I discovered the batteries had relocated into the TV remote. Havenât had that problem since I was wired. Got called a few choice names though.
Have a Heavenly ( donât hit me RMOM) weekend. I wish you Peace, Love, and Ben & Jerryâs at 2/$5 before coupons.
Did you do the liturgy? I hope you like your new mom? Iâm never quite sure how to define the relationship when the children are adults (maybe not grown ups).
Yes. Iâm one of a few ministers who got to preside at a parentâs wedding. Or an ancestorâs wedding.
Iâm not sureâI donât know her all that well, but she seems nice. OTOH, I donât expect that Iâll always be her little child (in part) as happens with parents who âknew you when.â
Yeah, when you change diapers, take care of them when they are sick, feed them and love them they are always yours. Even if not biologically and you are separated from them. I will always appreciate Monkey 1âs Mom for making it easy for Monkey 1 to have two moms.
Good evening all just finished dinner. This house we have smoke detector is electric and found out one thing, there is a fireplace two levels, the lower level need cleaned uper level not so much. As it turns out when you used the fireplace during winter the smoke would drift down the hall and set the smoke detector off and we would have to open window to air out. Not fun.
Question I think I did something not to smart for Gocomics I checked the boxes of strips I read now sends them to email, I donât want this how do I get rid of this? Help me.
There has to be away, I went back and checked the boxes to remove what I selected, I also checked what is shown, no go. I just donât want comic strips as email bog email too much, and itâs not spam.
Rmom thanks I did check the link is this for middle age adults? Iâm trying to keep costs down, as Iâm paying for cc when daughter went to a certain college to be a personal trainer, this type of college does it in 9 months and expects all money up front, we paid thousands and they missed out of two things keep her from passing, pregant women and lazy people, for pregant women they want to stay in shape, I know cause I walked a lot, lazy people have to be motived and when fat itâs hard. This test covered it where as the college she went to didnât.
Kab Buch - When you go to your comic page to select the comics you want, in the upper right corner of the page you can select to e-mail or not to e-mail. It must default to e-mail so just select not to e-mail and then save changes.
LUVH8 You got me in trouble, well Iâll blame you. SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED walked in and asked what I was doing. I showed her âSir Lewâ and said âThatâs how pretty women address me.ââ The swelling should be gone by morning. Do they have a book for handling women, or should I read Girls and Sports?
Hi Grog - Is The Undefeated with John Wayne and Rock Hudson any good? (If you know.) Itâs on tommorow night and didnât want to waste my time if it isnât.
Hi, tribe!
You guys have been yappy for Friday evening!
bmonk - I only had to make up the punchcards for the title page for the financial statements, including name & address, plus # of copies. So the stack I had to do was always fairly small. I let the computer operators handle the large stacks, but I do remember learning a few new words when they dropped cards.
Sir Lew - As long as you play nice to the tribe members, we donât care what you do with your computers. However, if you canât communicate with us as a result of your actions, that might be a problemâŠ
Kab - Yes, it is for adults too.
Well I couldnât sleep. So Iâm now tweeking my breakfast menu. I just popped in a DVD of the lost show of Carson with guests Bob Hope, Dean Martin and George Gobel. This is a classic. Iâm now opening a frosty Bud.

Other rules are: Play nice. No politics or religion. (The ban on religious discussions is on more of the type that leads to argument, not a ban on âpraying for youâ, etc. If you want to discuss theology, go to For Heavenâs Sake.)

George Arnold over 14 years ago

Hi Rmom & Sojourner
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
Sojo - I just get my news via the internet. I would have posted a link, but didnât find a great page to link. I donât put too much faith in the weather forecast until it is 48 hours or less - usually less.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Well my day -1 of close went very well. Everone submitted their stuff on time and Iâm done for the day.
I get to leave early on this happy Friday.
Catch yâall this evening.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Rmom - I may start doing that also. I know Cox puts local news on but has so many other things I donât have them as my home page. The newspaper online might also be a poss. I know that when I went to Montana and later to Wis. I read the local papers online a few weeks before to understand the local area better before I got there!

Yes, Grog. It is a quiet day. I need to p/u a car this evening to work on this weekend,

Terry - Starting to think maybe some of it is bp related. I was feeling pretty woozy, and ate some cheddar cheese & potato chips to get some salt in my system. It seemed to help.

I missed breakfast, can I get a double chocolate drippy-doo shakesâwith sprinkles? Sounds good.
Rmom said, about 5 program card packs ago
RwB - Copy & paste is wonderful. I used computers for years without that ability. (We just made new punchcards - no copy & paste.)
How often did you have the fun of dropping a pack? Hours of fun getting them all back in the proper order!!

Bmonk you are loony? You always seemed perfectly normal to me.
How was your Dadâs wedding?
lewisbower over 14 years ago

Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Hi Sojo!
I need to go be a parental unit and driver for a while. I donât think it would be a good idea to comment and drive so be back later.

Yeah, when you change diapers, take care of them when they are sick, feed them and love them they are always yours. Even if not biologically and you are separated from them. I will always appreciate Monkey 1âs Mom for making it easy for Monkey 1 to have two moms.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
bmonk, maybe she will consider you hers at Christmas and bake you cookies? I hope she doesnât use the smoke detector to tellif they are done.
In trouble now, later.
bmonk over 14 years ago
If she does use the smoke detector, maybe Iâll have to get on early and offer them for breakfastâŠ
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Good evening all just finished dinner. This house we have smoke detector is electric and found out one thing, there is a fireplace two levels, the lower level need cleaned uper level not so much. As it turns out when you used the fireplace during winter the smoke would drift down the hall and set the smoke detector off and we would have to open window to air out. Not fun.
Question I think I did something not to smart for Gocomics I checked the boxes of strips I read now sends them to email, I donât want this how do I get rid of this? Help me.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Hi Kab Buch - Iâm not sure about that as I like having them sent. Perhapes you can set your e-mail to automatically deleat them?
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Enjoy!
kab2rb over 14 years ago
There has to be away, I went back and checked the boxes to remove what I selected, I also checked what is shown, no go. I just donât want comic strips as email bog email too much, and itâs not spam.
kab2rb over 14 years ago
Rmom thanks I did check the link is this for middle age adults? Iâm trying to keep costs down, as Iâm paying for cc when daughter went to a certain college to be a personal trainer, this type of college does it in 9 months and expects all money up front, we paid thousands and they missed out of two things keep her from passing, pregant women and lazy people, for pregant women they want to stay in shape, I know cause I walked a lot, lazy people have to be motived and when fat itâs hard. This test covered it where as the college she went to didnât.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Kab Buch - When you go to your comic page to select the comics you want, in the upper right corner of the page you can select to e-mail or not to e-mail. It must default to e-mail so just select not to e-mail and then save changes.
lewisbower over 14 years ago
LUVH8 You got me in trouble, well Iâll blame you. SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED walked in and asked what I was doing. I showed her âSir Lewâ and said âThatâs how pretty women address me.ââ The swelling should be gone by morning. Do they have a book for handling women, or should I read Girls and Sports?
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Sir Lew, I would suggest abject begging? You have got to be better at relationships than I am. Perhaps, a present.

Hi Grog - Is The Undefeated with John Wayne and Rock Hudson any good? (If you know.) Itâs on tommorow night and didnât want to waste my time if it isnât.
GROG Premium Member over 14 years ago
Sojourner, I love John Wayne, but Iâve never been crazy about the Rock. But to me most any Duke movie is worth watching at least once.
George Arnold over 14 years ago
Grog - Thanks. I donât think Iâve seen this and do like John Wayne.
Smiley Rmom over 14 years ago
However, if you canât communicate with us as a result of your actions, that might be a problem⊠Kab - Yes, it is for adults too.
Ooops! Premium Member over 14 years ago
Yes, please Sir Lew donât make it so you canât converse with us anymore. (everyone thinks I am sane compared to you)
