Just wait until your exit is 100ft. away and then move over from the #1 lane, leaving as little space as possible between your car, and all those between you and your exit.
Admittedly this won’t make a lot of sense to people who aren’t British, or haven’t been to Britain, but we have a road sign which shows three diagonal bars, then two, then one as you get closer to an exit.
As a kid I genuinely mistook this for how many bridges were ahead.
