    here in japan, where mangling english when adopting it for use in japanese is a national sport, the media have taken to calling ordinary robots “drones”… ☺

    Well, the original (and therefore “correct”) use of bemused seems to be attested exactly once in published writing, in a context that absolutely invited misinterpretation: “A Parson, much be-mus’d in Beer” (A. Pope, 1737), plainly a “nonce-word” originally.
