I have eaten conch several times in Key West and each time the conch was tough as shoe leather. Not my favorite. But the live conchs are cool. When coaxed out of their shells, the appendage looks like a human foot. Check it out when you’re in the Keys.

They call it that because to get the critter out of it’s shell, you conk it with a hammer.

Likely to see who’ll take the next bite out of.
