We had a cat that would do something similar. When she wanted to go out in the middle of the night, she would sit on the edge of the bed and howl at the top of her lungs. The first reaction (which is what the cat wanted anyway) was to pick up the cat and toss her out. Pavlov would be proud.

The proper sequence of events for the cat servant is:
1) Get up and pick up the cat.
2) Push the cat through the cat flap.
3) Go back to bed.
