Last night, our conure (Central American Parrot) Kimmy was riding on my shoulder as usual, and I walked out onto the porch to let out the dogs and forgot she was on my shoulder. She zoomed off.
We spent an hour looking for her, holding up her favorite food (my cereal in a bowl) and yelling her name. We heard and saw her screeching on a roof, frightened by neighbors’ dogs. They took in their dogs, and Kimmy flew down onto my wife, and started eating the cereal. She held the bird and took her home.
I was so traumatized — my wife and daughter love Kimmy more than me — that when we got back, I just went up to my room, shaking, and didn’t return for two hours.
When I came down for dinner, Kimmy was none the worse for wear, but I was still traumatized. While I ate my re-heated chicken and veggies, she joined me and scarfed some down, as usual. Then she sat on my shoulder until I went to bed, also as usual.

This is so appropriate for me today.

I am still devastated.

I tried to put more ram into my computer, but the sheep wouldn’t fit.
