The owls living near me do a pretty good job of keeping the mouse population in check. The foxes also help with that (like the fox in my avatar, which is from a photo I took looking out a bedroom window years ago, long before the arrival of digital cameras).

Cats won’t usually go after rats. When a lost hamster ended up in our house our cat looked at it, turned up her nose and basically said “you get it, I won’t!”

We never worried about mice or rats as long as we had a cat. When she died the mice showed up. No rats, thsnkfully. At our cottage.
