One of the things which seems missing, or at least mostly unrecognized, on Memorial Day (Decoration Day) is the fact that a lot of soldiers returned alive, but maimed or injured mentally/spiritually. We owe them just as much as we owe the honored dead; perhaps we owe them even more.
