I wish the political atmosphere in the US allowed us to do what we really need to do — cut ties with Israel. I feel great kinship to Judaism. I read and appreciate many wonderful Jewish scholars. But the State of Israel has for decades been both a bad neighbor and a bad ally. Aside from political points with a strong pro-Israel bloc, we gain nothing good from the relationship. For decades they have lied to us, ignored us, undercut us … and happily taken our money. They make our other — and important — mid eastern relationships more difficult.
