I hate when the news doesn’t start with breaking news and starts with the community coming together at a local park for workshops or fun and games. Snooze.
News services are just another competitor for your attention these days. Blame cable for the 24 hour news cycle. News used to arrive with the morning and evening paper. Then the evening TV news at 11 PM to end the day. In between bits began happening, like afternoon news after the soaps. Then it was “57 channels and nothing on” and stations became desperate for ad revenue which meant grabbing a big audience. Papers lost right away. The news was old when they printed it. So local ads became their stock. TV went cheap with “reality” shows, old documentaries and talking heads.

I think I’d be quite surprised if the news led with “everything is fine”.

I just don’t trust them. I give them the same credibility as a used car salesman.
