Parents have so much competition from social media, TV, Movies, video games and the usual peer pressure, and it doesn’t help much that usually BOTH parents MUST work just to make ends meet. Some parents still manage to raise good kids; my hat’s off to them. How do they do it?

Studies have shown that parental involvement in education, making it important in the home, is the biggest key to student success. This is why Asian students have done so well. Limit social media, make education important. Two parents working? The need for this started in 1980; as Yogi Berra said, “You could look it up.”

Our school system needs a lot of fixing, no doubt. Bullying is rampant across the nation and with social media it’s taken on a whole new complexity. If you were bullied in school, in the old days, at least you got a break. School done for day, rush out the door and home. Now, with all the networks out there, it’s a challenge. Is it a wonder why there are so many mass shootings at schools?
