I agree, by the time, youâve heard âSilver Bellsâ (or any other carol) sung by 20 different artists repeatedly for a month and a half BEFORE the actual day, it is enough to put you into the local ârubber roomâ ! ! ! !
Back when I was in college, I worked part-time at a fast food chain named for a famous actor/country singer. Usually the sound system played instrumental versions of country classics, which was fine. But at Christmas we had to stick to just one tape playing badly âcountry-styledâ versions of Christmas carols. Fake Southern accents, too much vibrato, steel guitars all over the place. On a ninety minute loop. For six weeks. I got REALLY good at tuning it out. And that means I can tune out background music basically anywhere now. Feels like a superpower.
A local supermarket used to have a gumball machine that had a rooster that constantly crowed. It would drive me crazy waiting in line. I asked the checkout person how they could stand it. They said they got used to it and didnât hear it after a while. Whoever came up with it was a sadist.
I donât mind Christmas Carols. What I despise are when famous singers try to jazz up a traditional Christmas song and put their own âspinâ on it.
Thus, I have not started listening to Christmas music & have done all my shopping via Amazon. Music goes on the night of the 24th and off the morning of the 25th.
I donât like the novelty Christmas songs. Other than that, Iâm fine with Christmas carols and Christmas songs, as long as I donât have to hear Mariah Carey screeching âAll I Want For Christmasâ again!
I was at Walmart and was quiet no music, my son works at Dillionâs not talked about store having music. What each Dillionâs and other retails is facing the CEO has decided to cut all hourly workerâs hours to less then part time. Son only works 3 days, off Christmas Eve as store closes at 6 p.m. close Christmas day.

I have Stan Frebergâs âGreen Christmasâ on heavy rotation. At least once every 100 minutes.
