When Roger Zelazny wrote ‘Roadmarks’, all the chapters about the main character were numbered identically as chapter one. All the chapters about the other characters were numbered chapter two and were not time sequential. He then took all the chapter twos and tossed them up in the air and used that for their order in the book.
Just because the book has been moved doesn’t mean Dean should forget it exists. Knowing Spock as he does, I would hope Dean would just look on the ground and find it.
