There must be a back-story here I’m not getting. Anyone?

Socks are always great when they’re in pairs.

The dog may just as well eat the other sock and soon there will be 2 brown socks.

Why is Teddy surprised in the last panel? He predicted the socks would be together again, and now they are.

Mortimer must think he’s a washing machine. My washer stopped draining one day. PI got a repair manual, took out the drum and found a sock stuck in the drainpipe. Don’t overfill your washer. My family had a beagle that once ate 2 pounds of ham. My dad went nuts looking for it and the mystery wasn’t solved until the butcher paper showed up in her poop. She then ate a box of foil wrapped Efferdent tablets. If any of the wrappers had breached she would have literally exploded. Gave her an enema and she walked around the yard looking like the weirdest dispenser ever.

Babies and toddlers have a remarkable ability to shed socks.
