Why does that matter? Warehouse or store it’s still the same product….but I know some will shop only at one location than other locations even though it’s the same store.
Safeway in the USA does that and big stores up here offer delivery as well. Deliveries are pulled from a local warehouse and sent all over. Not the best idea in the summer when you wanted ice cream but end up with chocolate soup. We live close enough to shop in person and many times we make great discoveries. And I like going to specialty shops, like cheese, butcher, bakery and such. I like being able to select a cheese, take a slice to the bakery, and match it up with the best bread for it.
I used to work retail back in the 80’s…cashier, stock, cart herder…the scanners were pretty new at the time. No “self checkouts”. I worked at a Venture store in St. Louis area, during Christmas when Cabbage Patch Dolls came out…that was crazy! People fighting over the dolls! Then we moved out to Nebraska, and I worked at an Econofoods (like a Sam’s Club)…I actually liked that place. I was part of the stock team during the day shift. Anyway, I love your comic because I’ve experienced some of this that you portray (although not the tunnels under the store, never found those).
I had the opposite problem. I would be called in early (meaning I had to leave the house before 0400 hours to be on the job site by 0600 hours). I was incoherent until 0800 hours. Same thing with local sob sites. Had to be there by 0600 hours for construction meetings, and I never answered any questions until 0800 hours. Then it was rapid fire response in the order they had been presented and if you weren’t paying attention, too bad. You missed your answer. A co-worker timed it and stopped the meeting 30 seconds before 0800 hours to get the other participants alert.

Soon they will be able to teleport your groceries directly into your kitchen
Go home, and wait for our people to deliver the receiver unit
Don’t leave the house, if you miss them you might never get one

If you order online, your product comes from the warehouse.
