I thought “eave” looked strange so I looked it up. Per my fave dictionary (Amer. Herit. 5th Ed.) “eaves” is a plural noun but has no singular (like trousers or scissors).
I’m beginning to think that I may have to use that method to rid myself of fire ants. What they are selling these days only makes them move the mound around to a different place in my yard. Give me some Paris Green.
Don’t mess around with wasp hives—-above or below ground. They are dangerous . Bite the bullet and hire a proper commercial exterminator. Worth every penny.
I had a paper wasp nest forming under the eve on my house and the poorly supervised little kids next door trying kept trying to knock it down they thought there was honey inside I had to keep explaining to them wasps don’t make honey
Get them while the nest is small. Aerosol spray makes them dopey, if you can’t get your hands on a smoke machine, then you just knock it down into a garbage bag. I’ve done it. Do wear long sleeved leather coat and gloves and a hat with a net to cover your face.
There was a wasp nest in the park near church. Every Sunday I would visit it and see how the wasps were doing. They ignored me, and I respected their privacy. When a hurricane took out the nest in the fall I collected up the pieces (the wasps had left), dried them and am now using them in art projects. The whole nest was about 18" tall and 12" diameter at largest part, and weighed less than a pound.

Drastic, but understandable.

One time the cats let a big, a really big, rat loose in the house. We saw it happen. I said, “We’re moving.”

Another approach is, leave them alone, and they will leave you alone. In fact once they are used to you they will go out of their way to avoid you.
