I really miss the other FBFW strips. I can relate to so many of their life stories.

Me too. I don’t know whether I am going to be able to adjust to this. I wanted to see the story continue. But I’m trying.

I was Mom to a boy that had a pet goldfish named Mr. Ed and the fish lived for a year in a small bowl like the one in the strip. I changed his water every day and talked to him. One day I bought him an aquarium. When I transferred him from the bowl to the aquarium, he didn’t move for about ten minutes - then he discovered he could swim and he zipped all over the place! I loved Mr. Ed

I was SO excited about the rebirthing of the strip. I read off and on over the years and look forward to filling in the gaps. Fortunately I can come here to do so.

In a display of editorial wisdom The Washington Post saw fit to drop FBOFW after last Sunday and replace it with yet another talking animal strip.

    How novel.

and the newspapers wonder why their readership is declining by the day. They blame it on technology or anything else but their own stupid decisions. The mandarins in the ivory tower run their little fiefdoms for their own pleasure.

I’m sorry Lynn Johnston had so much difficulty coping with her divorce, and that she did not carry the story line of the strip forward into her new reality. She’s limiting her art and life to her “motherhood’ period She should’ve given Elly a makeover and had her take up with a younger man. I hope Lynn does the same. John could’ve messed around with a new dental assistant, who becomes disenchanted with the old fuddy duddy with the trains. My daughter’s the same age as April, and I’m disappointed that the storyline as ended. I don’t want to watch Farley die again, anymore than I want us to replay the deaths of our own dogs. As far as we really know, life only goes by once.

Wasn’t this strip originally drawn by Lynn and her former husband? If so, I’m glad she got custody of the strip.

I’m interested enough in the strip to read for a while, but…. I don’t like showing a fish being mistreated - it teaches kids that goldfish can live in small bowls and THEY CAN’T. In reality unless she shows the water being changed every day in a week she had better sow the fish dead and the parents explaining to the kids about death.

Don’t worry, George Webster. According to everything I have read about the new strips, Farley will not die again. Lynn is keeping the family from aging this time around. They will remain the same…a young couple with two little kids…and a forever Farley.
