I was in basic training at Ft. Knox and had been for several weeks. I was thrilled one Saturday to know I had the morning off and went to call my parents. I called only to discover their number had been disconnected. I called my grandmother who told me dad had taken a job in Missouri and they had moved.
A couple of days later in mail call, I got a letter from my mother telling me what was going on. She had mailed it before the move as evidenced by the postmark, but for some reason it was delayed.
After graduation and before I went to Ft. Benning to the Infantry School and Airborne school, we had a good laugh about sending the kid to camp and moving.
sounds like a shtick I heard from a comic once whose premise was âThis is your life (insert name of serial killer here)â.âYou had a difficult childhood. Your family moved often, but you kept finding them!â

Most parents do sell the house because once the kid(s) moved out the house is just too large for two people.
