My husband loves camping, I do not. So when he can, he goes and has a wonderful time. It relaxes him and he needs it, especially after surviving a heart attack.
I remember “camping out” as a kid by pitching a pup tent in our back yard. I noticed two odd things: 1) although I would work hard to make sure there were no rocks under me when I lied down, one would always sneak under me during the night… 2) I would wake up as the Sun was just coming up, and it was eerily quiet – despite being in the middle of a neighborhood with secondary roads nearby – the quiet was so “loud” you could “feel” the weight of it.
Did my sleeping on the ground all the time as a youth. Between boy scouts and just fishing adventures, I learned to put tree boughs under my sleeping bag to hide the rocks. Now, it’s a cabin with a hot tub and fireplace. Miss those good old days.

I remember this kid in middle school who said he hated camping out because the frogs were too noisy.
