âKnocked onceâŠ
Wonder just whatâs going on in there.â - âGreen Doorâ
Go with the âflowâ, Dad!
All that water is a big âturn offâ for Dad.
âThe End of the Worldâ - Skeeter Davis
Calvin: âCause you donât love me, anymoreâ
Itâs âcurtainsâ for Calvin.
Calvinâs face is âA Whiter Shade of Paleâ
Calvin wants a bath! âThereâs a first time for everything.â
A nice warm bath might relax everybodyâs nerves.
Well, if Dad had fixed that faucet like he was supposed to, then Calvin wouldnât have had to try to fix it⊠so Dad can take away a lesson - Never put off until tomorrow what Calvin will decide to do for you today!
I had a neighbor who asked me how to change a faucet. I told him to turn off the water and remove the faucet. He turned off the hot and cold water, then cut the pipe BELOW the valve where there was water pressure. Looked a lot like Calviinâs kitchen.
âStupidity cannot be cured with money, or through education, or by legislation. Stupidity is not a sin, the victim canât help being stupid. But stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death, there is no appeal and execution is carried out automatically and without pity.â
Gee dad I was only trying to help can I help it if things went bad. Dad get a better bucket start dumping water down the drain not in the yard as you might splash water all over the house and the yard wonât see any water. Calvin I really didnât need your type of help with this as you made things worse. Hope the floors donât warp as the wall donât go bad.
Comicguy250âyeah, I noticed that (A) dad was able to open the door despite the massive volume of water behind it (and none of it seeped under the doorâwhat a great job of weatherstripping!), and (B), there should have been a torrential flood coming out of the bathroom, with a subsequent drop in water level, but since this is a comic strip, I allowed for the artistic license.
Bear in mind, Dad, a just-released study found that corporal punishment lowers a childâs IQ by several points. Oh, never mind, this is a rerun, they hadnât discovered it back then.
Note that Hobbes appears to be in an in-between depiction of real and doll. Interesting. Heâs usually clearly one or the other, depending on whether Calvin is alone with him.
âCorporal punishment lowers a childâs IQ by several pointsâ? And just how do the authors of said study know that? There are so many real and potential things wrong with that conclusion that itâs laughable.
Even if it did, it would be worth it to raise Calvinâs WQ (Wisdom Quotient) by a few notches and âsave his life from Sheolâ.
(Oh: pursuant to some sharp-eyed remarks above about the water level, Iâve put this under the tag âcartoon physicsâ. An ever-growing list, that is.)
Rakkav: the authors know that because they tested the IQ of a lot of people and then asked them all about how they were punished as kids. Not rocket science. I read it recently in the New York times. Go to their website and do a search (also not rocket science).

In a Calvin proof house there would be a floor drain in every room.
GROG Premium Member over 15 years ago
In a Calvin-proof house, there would be no house - just the wide open space of the outdoors.
