Unfortunately, there’s only one way to reason with Moe.

The couple bullies I met in school were only tough in their crowd of friends but one on one they backed down quickly. Unfortunately he’s bigger and stronger I think you just lose the truck Calvin. He’ll probably be back for more things he wants later of yours though. I think you need to consult Dad on that one?!

I always found the “moe” guys in school to be pretty easy targets. with half a brain, you can tie their shoes together, tack their chair, remove the little adjusting feet on the back legs of their chair… those guys will fall for just about anything.

In Jr high there was this weasly little guy who’s brother was the biggest “moe” in school, so he felt he could bully kids too… me a couple other kids from the Olympics of the Mind team gathered about $40 in pennies and shoved em all in the vent in his locker… soon as he opened it they came pouring out and went rolling all over the place.

Funny thing, but after that, he quit messing with our group… maybe he didn’t want any more “kodak moments” to happen to him ;)

Grammar People. “Than” is a preposition, objects of prepositions get “me.” Plus it works for whom too, is it objective case. Plus Calvin needs to contact Lio, time machine anyone?

Than is not a preposition. It is an adverb. The correct phrasing would indeed be “than I (am).” But I don’t think Calvin is worried about grammar at the moment. A preposition is anything a rabbit can do to a log. He can run to, over, through, in, around, under; but he can’t run THAN the log.

I love Masterpiece Mystery. I Tivo every episode and watch them at my leisure.

I agree with Dino-1. Time for Calvin to have a consult with his parents pronto. When I was a little kid a bully type stole my tricycle. I went into the house and told my mother. She went across the street, got the trike and read the kid the riot act that you could hear all over the block. I was never bothered again. Sometimes a bit of properly applied might does indeed make things right….

Something needs to happen to Moe. Kids who continually get rewarded for stealing will continue to do that, and probably worse, if they aren’t dealt sufficient incentives (read: punishment) to mend their ways.

I guess the Quaker Oats guy was wrong when he said “Nothing is better for thee than me.” And he used “thee” Wow! It’s getting to where you can’t trust anybody except I.

I thought they would never end! As to the grammar discussion, I tell my freshman, who have a difficult time identifying nouns in a sentence, that sometimes usage depends on the voice and purpose. Common expressions are sometimes OK for common usage. Most of them have the same expression as Moe, but my debaters loved the debate!

I believe schools now days are looking into the problem of bulling. I am currently taking on-line classes so far I am the oldest one. Discussions are better then the tests, and one subject Rmom brought up is punishment which happened to be a discussion subject. Moe reminds of a younger version of kids who bullied and intimated and frustrated parents and their kids. Here in KS one who got away with it only wanted publicity is spending life in prision this man was cruel to animals in his younger days. Lived in a small town married with two kids. After 30 years of being on a killing spree he got caught up with and plead guilty to all counts. He murdered a child. Not sure how Moe will turn out as he gets older.
