It is layoff season. This is the time of year that market advisors start to suggest changes that will make a stock look good for the year. That normally means layoffs to reduce the cost profile of the company as compared to the year-end (we buy a lot of crud for Christmas).
Reminds me of when I retired. The boss came around, wanting favors and threatening layoffs… I was tired of this place so I put in for retirement with HR.
Found out later from a coworker that the boss was livid that I did that. Turned out that he got a bonus for every employee he laid off or fired, but because I left on my own accord the company refused to give him a bonus for me leaving.
