My favorite parody of that song is Allan Sherman’s “The 12 Gifts of Christmas.”

We got my dad one of those for Christmas when they first became available. He loved to listen to baseball games on his Japanese transister radio with a mono-earphone, a recharger case, and a pull out metal carry handle.

That reminds me of this one.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me:

12 no hunting or trespassing signs!

11 dogs retrieving,

10 guns a blazing,

9 ducks a flying,

8 scopes a scoping,

7 waders wading,

6 clay pigeons flying,

5 golden ring necked pheasants!

4 duck calls calling,

3 wooden decoys,

A double barrel shotgun,

and a cartridge in a bare tree.

You’re okay, Mittens.

Very weird!

Why not a whole ridge? Would that weigh the tree down too much?

I’ve removed enough hair from my cat over the last few years to make another cat. :)

Ok Mittens, I understand everyone deserves a vacation… But we miss you. Will you come back if we bring you some gravy?
