My dad bag-boyed his way through college, and after that would never let anyone else bag his groceries. He was a master-packer, that’s for sure. We never had a broken egg or a crushed bag of chips.
Mom made us bag the groceries when we went shopping with her. We were good, we sorted by what went where, what didn’t need a bag, and heavy on the bottom light on the top, perfectly balanced. I still bag my groceries. Don’t want the cashiers to do it. They have enough to do as it is!

60 years ago, when I was in the boy scouts, we use to help bag groceries at the local A&P grocery store. Then we would carry them out to their car.

I was a bag boy at a military PX run by my Mom. We worked only for tips, which became illegal, so now there are no bag boys at the PX.
