Solution: never buy a commercial cake. Make it yourself from a tried and true, moist dark cake recipe. Always a hit in our family.

I had to order some because of all the stuff I’ve been reading. The ones I got were bar style and very good.

My wife makes great fruitcakes. Wrapped in rum soaked towels in an airtight bucket for a month. I never liked fruitcake until I married her.
