Country is an acquired taste, a taste I haven’t acquired.

Me, I hate country music! Give me Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and the Beatles every time!

I like many different musical genres, and I grew up surrounded by country, but I never developed a taste for it.

My mother listened to country music and my brother and I were typical teenagers, he liked rock and I liked top 40, some easy listening, etc. But after a while of hearing my mother’s music I grew to like it and believe it or not so did my brother! I remember him trying to introduce his friends to it and they laughed at him and the music!

IMHO every genre of music has good and bad. Over time the good survives and the bad fades away.

Many years ago I was in husbands car with the radio on a country station After awhile I asked him to change it. He says you need to be more tolerant. But I can’t listen to my metal music if he is in my car.

My rule for any genre of music: is it well-performed? I can enjoy modern as well as ancient. They’re all the same notes, Folks!
