At the St. Louis, Missouri USA zoo you enter the indoor penguin habitat through a stone archway. Above the arch is a walkway that allows the penguins to go from one tank to the other. I recommend that when you reach the end of the archway you pause for a beat then take two quick steps into the exhibit – the penguins are well practiced in standing on the walkway and pooping on slow-moving humans below!
One day I was at the NY aquarium with a friend. We stopped to chat outside the penguin enclosure. After a few minutes, I looked down and ALL of the penguins were looking up at me. I moved, they moved with me. I still have no idea why. Maybe I looked like the person who fed them.

Plot twist: They’re the penguins of Madagascar!

Sadly, all the penguins were just sophisticated animatronics, as real penguins went extinct several years ago. Still, nice ball tossing.

So, why aren’t the public allowed to see the turtles?

I always found the Penquinarium in Detroit to smell pretty rancid.
