Never heard of it, but Wikipedia knew it. The pictures show the hippos as colored with white balls. I guess Benton wanted to avoid copyright issues.

For those not familiar with it, “Hungry Hungry Hippos” was a kid’s game, for 2-4 players. Some little balls would be released onto the play area, and the kids would slap a little paddle on the back end of the hippo, and the head would thrust forward, and pull the balls into a little hole.Whomever it was that had the most balls under their hippo won.
