Whatever happened to that method of math, anyway,using “alligator mouths”,as I used to call them,to mean"greater than"(with the “open mouth”facing left)and “less than”(with the mouth part facing right). Heck, it’s been like forty years or so, since I last heard of it, when I was in primary school. Must be an "outdated"or form of “old math”in today’s day and age.

I grew up in the eighties, and the way that stuck in my mind when learning this notation was Pac-Man. Obviously Pac-Man’s mouth would always be facing where there was “more”.
