SM is way, way off on this one. A large fraction of the public wants and are willing to pay for the latest and greatest and smart phones. They’re relatively affordable compared to the also ubiquitous cars. Damage beyond repair is a distant second at best. And a large fraction of phone owners are loyal to iPhones when there’s far more Androids to choose from. (Says the guy with a newish phone that will supposedly be supported for 7 years)
..came across my ol’ Mac G3 from 1996 cleaning the garage over the weekend. Amazingly fired right up with that ‘dong’ sound. Spent a couple of hours playing 30 year old games..

I figure customers just want devices they can take with them. Most people don’t feel a need for the few advantages presented by desktops.
