I wonder if the golden at-bat would actually make that much differencre. Very, very few hitters have ever had even a .500 on-base percentage, and then only for one season. It’s not at all rare to see teams where even their best hitter isn’t actually very good. Hitters who get on base fail to score about 75% of the time. So the odds are pretty good that it would ony make a big difference quite rarely. Human brains being wired the way they are, those rare occasions would, of course, get all the attention. Selection bias will always be with us.
It is bad enough with the DH, a runner on 2nd at the top if the 10th, no more double headers, $10 dollar a cup equine urine, and other cr*p you see at the ball park. At least the Commissioner has said that he is against it. I swore off baseball during the 1994 – 95 strike/lockout. I found better things to do and waste my money on.

Understood it’s not similar in nature but it still sounds like MLB’s response to the NFL’s dynamic kickoff.

Ghost runner is not cool. I think someone needs to be in detox for the next 3 or 4 years. They have way too much of something in their bloodstream.

If your golden batter doesn’t come through, it’s fools’ gold.
