To Linguist. – I never stopped reading just that other places, incl. Real Living, commands my attention. I now have a co resident tho’ not married, but regardless it has taken a sizable chunk out of what I do each day.
I remember Fan O Lio and the shot we got of two men commiserating over a brewski. :-)
Never talk to the police without a lawyer. Don’t talk to other people’s lawyers either, if you’re not paying them then you’re a possible scapegoat. (That’s advice I’ve heard from lawyers.)
The technology that exists indicates the 21st Century but beat bobbies (policemen outside cars not queuing in McDonalds) indicates the previous Century.
Today’s classic is a belter and dates back to the mid 60’s!

(4 panel strip)
It’s late at night and Andy stumbles into a lamp post – BONK!
In the second panel, a policeman has witnessed it and shouts, “lf yer like, l’ll get the town council t’ remove all the lamp posts for yer!”
In the third panel, the sarcasm has gone completely over the drunken Andy’s head as he pats the policeman warmly on his shoulder and says, “No, no, lad. I couldn’t let yer go to all that trouble – thanks all the same.”
In the final panel, Andy is continuing lonely his walk home. His thought bubble reads, “…What a lovely fella!”
//////
What l love about this strip is how it exposes one of my pet hates and turns it on its head. The sarcasm of those in uniform representing the law. I’ve only experienced it personally a couple of times but so many of our ‘boys in blue’ like to be sarcastic, rude, patronising and just plain cheeky to the tax payer. They often provoke trouble rather than prevent it.

Andy lives in a bizarre world.

Andy was sure quick to use that opening they left for him considering they didn’t mention him personally.

My Dad was once conduction job interviews, and had to turn down a candidate whose resume claimed they were an ‘excellent proodreader.’

Andy was brawling in the Spotted Duck at the time.
