My late, lamented 19 lb (8.62 kg) tabby, Random Numbers, would delicately take off a rose petal and run off with his prize to eat it in peace. All the cats love one flower that we renamed kitty’s breath.

The feline philosophy in our house is “This is my house, therefore everything in it is mine.”

Rose petals are edible, but florist roses probably have pesticides on them.

My cats probably would have eaten the petals while they were still on the roses!

I had an old projection TV, the top of which was the only safe place for flowers. In one of my saner moments had the sense to not put anything against the same wall. Lucy-cat would stand in front of that TV and watch those flowers, certain if she stared hard enough they’d eventually fall. She certainly thought about getting to them; I’d watch that little butt wiggle and … Thankfully, she never did figure out how to get all the way up there. She’s been gone a long time now, I still miss her.

Mine like the greenery of Christmas cacti, spider plants, and avocado leaves.
