    They both should be doing resistance exercises. Both men and women lose muscle mass as they age. Women tend to lose it slightly faster proportionally.

    If you can’t do even one, start on a raised surface like a chair seat, or even a kitchen counter. If you can’t do those, start with wall pushups! Pushups are excellent for your core and if you’ve never done them you’ll be shocked how quickly you improve.

    I’m almost 60. A year ago I had trouble walking a mile. Been working hard for the last year and made lots of improvements.

    Planking is a low impact exercise, excellent for improving the core.
