Actually BB should probably thank GT for taking that hiatus, since a lot of papers picked up “Bloom County” as a replacement strip for “Doonesbury” and it kick-started BB’s career.
Has anyone else noticed that the guy with the long shaggy hair and beard has no mustache? Does the dungeon master shave it off so he can see which prisoners are sticking out their tongues at him?

This strip must have run originally in 1983, when Trudeau took his famous hiatus, to write/produce the musical.

Some folk found it mighty suspicious that GT left and BB appeared

4deer: You call being chained to a dungeon wall for over 9 months a “HIATUS”? That’s cold….
4deerinmyyard about 15 years ago
Right, more a low-atus.

Especially in its early years, BC reminded me a lot of Doonesbury
I’d never thought of that B4 but maybe during that period some doonesbury fans started reading BC
