Wow. A conservative mother from the 60’s suggesting a heavy rocker as a possible suitor for her daughter.

I can just see the stalactites hanging from the gates of hell.

I used to work near Toledo—it’s a pretty nice city, as cities go these days. On the other hand, hirsute drummers named Zooey (after J.D. Salinger’s eponymous character?) are not my cup of tea: I’d prefer the penguin, thank you.

’Scuse me Mrs Granola, but your daughter wishes to marry a

Southern Hemispherian. That should be enough social grace

for your family to be the envy of the entire neighbourhood.

Interspecies mating has got to be way out there on the edge of acceptability … even for 21st century progressive relationships … isn’t it?

A scum monkey is way better than a penquin…if you’re into that sort of thing.

Toledo, Ohio? Was that stain mud? They have Mud Hens in Toledo. Penguin, Mud Hen, I don’t see much of a difference. Marry something anyway!

Lola’s mom looks a lot like the mime that Opus killed with a mackeral (to the best of my recollection, anyway – I haven’t seen that strip in a long time).

I used to work in the Toledo area and occasionally would drive by this hulking old factory where the Jeeps were produced. That old building always gave me the Willys!
