Firecrackers have to be acquired through roadside stands that avoid picky jurisdictions, sometimes in the next state over….

Here in the SC city in which I live, there are about 6 fireworks roadside stands in the 6 miles between my home and the library. AND if you turn down a certain side road on the way, you’ll get to a frontage road where a HUGE fireworks warehouse has been built. New Year’s and Independence Day are noisy between 9 PM and 2-3 AM.

In addition, there are 2 Wal-Mart Superstores within 10 miles of each other and 5or6 guns/ammo/shooting range stores. Having bought neither fireworks nor firearms, I’m beginning to suspect that buying a gun is easier.

Some dude, recently busted, had 7,000+ guns in his home.

All that said, if some loon come into the fast food outlet where I’m eating and opens fire, if not hit in the first salvo I’d like the opportunity to shoot back.
