Caesar: Voting to me seems a lot like praying for a miracle. Huey: I'm not religious. Caesar: Me neither. But if you were strapped into coach class inside a 747 plummeting to Earth with its engines on fire and an idiot at the controls... Huey: Then call me the pope.

Well… OK; ZAP! You’re the Pope! Now what, Pope Huey?As far as the voting thing, why have we given our elections to corporations to run? Even if you vote on paper, it goes downtown to the Sanctum Sanctorum of the GEMS tabulator, only accessible to the corporate illuminati.Four things are needed to have a real election;1. Who can vote (the voter list)2. Who did vote (the participating voter list)3. Chain of custody4. The countThis, courtesy of BlackBoxVoting.org, since none of these things are guaranteed with our current setup.

voting is a mcguffin, the two-party system didn’t work before the money corruption era. People who don’t vote understand this and are trying to make their statement against the institution.

Ok. How would YOU guarantee the “sanctity” of each, individual vote? Anyone??
And, as far as making a statement by not voting, how can anyone – let alone “the institution” – know you did not vote and that you were making a statement by withholding your vote? Do you really think for a second that any politician really cares if you vote or not?

All elections go to the highest bidder. You can thank the electoral college for that. All laws are made by the highest bidder. You can thank the lobbyists for that. Our country is in really big trouble kids. You can thank the greedy corporations and wall street for that. Greed has been the downfall of many civilizations through history, and from the looks of it……..

Um, just an aside, but atheists don’t really have deathbed conversions like believers would have you believe. Crashing in a 747 wouldn’t make me believe in Santa Claus again, either. Just sayin’.

Pretty much describes the country went the criminal nincompoop, Jr., left office and handed the controls over to Obama. Of course the flight crew (the Republicnts) are still trying to wrest control from him while to plane plummets.

So in actuality we are voting for either the Koch Brothers or George Soros?

I love how a comic that was written in 2004 is still wholly relevant today.
And yes, the US is headed down the tubes due to greed. It’s just a matter of time before we become the new province of the Chinese empire, because we sold our economy, and all of our debt, to them. I look forward to working for our new overlords. Too bad I don’t know Chinese.

Greedy/corrupt politicians/corporations? Only because of greedy/corrupt human beings…and we’re stuck with those..You think it surprising that a comic strip from 2004 is still relevant? How about this:.“In small areas, before small electorates, a first-rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even the mob with him by force of his personality. But when the field is nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second and third hand, and the force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre—the man who can most easily adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum. The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”
