I just started my round of reading comics, and now Marg’s comment makes sense.
Before I started the comics I decided to update my list of possible comics. SOTU wasn’t on the list, so I only went there when someone mentioned it. I still don’t think I can handle that comment section.
I hope they’re not talking about Mary Worth. I’m hooked on that one.
Morning Everyone, Thanks for the coffee,Marg. I’m ready for a second cup. I am feeling okay, my energy is just not perking up as fast as I’d like it to. I was on some antibiotics and I think that may have drained me more than ususal.
JFrisch, yep good old Pacific Northwest rain. It’s been beautiful here, sunny for at least a week. Now, my wife’s brother is visiting and we had planned a picnic and it’s cloudy. He’s here for two days and it’s not supposed to clear until the day after he leaves. You just can’t reliably plan outdoor activities for this time of year.
Thanks Doc. I’m glad you’re getting some Spring weather. My brother was in the Army and stationed by Colorado Springs for years. I visited him a couple of times. Colorado is a very beautiful place.

Good morning all hope you are all having a wonderful morning today. i got up and went sit out side for about an hour and read. i should get moving wash my hair so it can dry before tonight. (takes hours ugh) but i dont feel like moving. it is a nice day over here also.
Marg thanks for telling Joy for me. greatly appreiacated. no need to worry, ill put pics up. i may have to change them everyday but somehow you will all see them all. lol ill figure it out when the time comes. going make my rounds be back soon.
Carmy hope you get to feeling better. sending good thoughts your way and lot and lots and lots of hugs.
Carmy get to feeling better! Please??? I brought rum raisin cake that some crusty old geezer gave me on the way to the party. Who was that guy???? Hmmmmmmmmm.
so guys. guess what. you know how a few days back i said i was taking the day off saturday and not watching Ana? well guess who is here. if you gussed Ana you are right. this is crazy. i had a nap planed and a hair washing and a hair trim plus leaving in about 3 hours. now what? lord help me. pray i get all the stuff i need to do done. like a shower not going to happen till she leaves. Barney is on (her favorite thing to watch) and im going see about working on all this junk. see you all later. thats for the waffels. ive been hungry for some. where is Dry this morning?
Sorry I’m late guys, but SINCE EVERYBODY JUMPED SHIP, I decided to find another avatar. Wanted to use Satchel but his image is .bmp so it wouldn’t except it. Anybody got any ideas on where I can get some compatable pics?
Say, do you and your wife subscribe to the magazine “Backyard Living”? Great magazine, but I’m already behind reading 2 issues, one is still in the wrapper! :-(
I’ll have some waffles, hold the rum. **Commic, you have can have the rum.
Tabby and JFri, Thanks, I’m sure I will be feeling better after a nice peaceful weekend.
carmy her mother could but dosent. go figure. she has called me mom about 4 times today. i love this little think as my own, but today is supposed to be my day. i am giving her till 12. i will be taking her home and doing my stuff. till then on here. and listing to barney.
*Dry* welcome to the party i was getting worried then remembered it was sat. and thought you may be sleeping in or fighting for the computer with your son. lol :D
okay guys and gals. i will talk to you latter. i have to go hurry and start getting ready. ice cream wasnt what i wanted but couldnt get a mississippi mud pie bc of my braces and the nuts would have hurt. talk to you all hopefuly some more today bc if not that will be a lot of catching up to do. if not tonight then tomorrow after chruch lunch and grannys. bye for now. i will get the pics up some how. :D
Sorry, JFri, we got snow here earlier in the week, and now it is upper 70’s. I figured the rest of the country was pleasant too.
Tabby have fun at your prom.
DF - the lime buns are awesome. I kept thinking it said “lima beans” As for the old comics, sometimes in this crazy mixed up world it is still good to know that Dagwood still eats sandwiches, Beetle Baily still sleeps, - well you get the picture.
It’s been in the 80’s here. I was at a kindergarden soccer game. Cute.
Just got here, and I bet that all the food is gone. :’-(
It was all dogs all day. The 13 year old dog had agility class this morning, and my therapy dog and I had to sit at the therapy dog group’s booth at a dog expo this afternoon. The wind is blowing up to 55 m.p.h. this afternoon, so the expo had to close early.
DigiF: There is one lime bun left, yummy! Have you got the recipe?
Tabby: I agree with Dry. Ana’s mother should be taking care of her herself. Is she at least paying you? Otherwise it sounds to me like she is taking advantage of your sweet nature. Hope prom is wonderful.
donkeymom If I may ask, where are you located, approximately? It was 86 here today, lovin’ it!
*DF* same ? to you. 45 degrees! You must be in Alaska!
marg I’m gonna try that paint, and THANKS A LOT for taking the last lime bun!
Oh, Marg, think I told you before, maybe not, maybe it was somebody else (who knows :-D! ) My friend raises and shows Shelties. She showed one at Westminster last year, but he didn’t win. What dogs do you have?
Hey, guess who just got up from a nice long nap, ME!
Dratz, I missed Joy.Marg, you took the words out of my mouth in regards to Tabby. I hope she has a really nice time at her prom.
Dry: The 13 year old is a sheltie/ brittany cross. The therapy dog is black lab, border collie, and probably some great dane thrown in there, too. The third dog is a retired grey hound, who sleeps all day.
Only 19 comments on SOTU as of 7:05 PM CSDT. I guess most of ‘em have religious type obligations on the weekend to account for diminished aggressive enthusiasms.
Rad, I went and checked SOTU, amazingly the “ear” only had one post. I thought of an Oliphant comic I saw one time. It had altar boys running and priests chasing them. The caption said it was the “Running of the Altar Boys”. It was sick, but very funny.
Hello, Dry(can I call you that?). If you are working in Paint:
1.Pic plus white area IS the whole pic. Gray area in Paint-window “does not exist”, but you only see gray if the whole Pic is less than the size of your monitor screen’s available Paint-window.
2.So the white area around Charlie and snoop can be “drag and drop”-ed to appropriate size. Hover cursor over paint window corner (bottom-right) til you see the two-directional arrow, left-click and hold, drag and drop Paint-window to appropriate size and save file.
3.Then, of course the file has to be saved or converted from bmp to a JPG, PNG,or GIF (that’s the only formats Gocomics accepts for avatars). This is NOFEARPup, BTW.
CommradeSnifferdoodle Yes you can call me Dry, everybody else does! Pray tell, who are you? NEVER saw your name before, and I have been here for quite awhile! Me thinks you are one of our ole buddies in disguise!
Just went back and read your last sentence! Like your new moniker, thought you were JFrI trying to pull a fast one!
I will try your suggestions! Thanks!
Hey I don’t think you were ever over here before, were you?
Marg & crew steaks are on the grill! Rum & Coke time and the Jolly Roger is *up*! Had to go to a funeral today (mom of some friends). Hate ‘em….throw me in a hole & party on when it’s my time!
Hi, Doc(you’ve met me - NoFEARPUP). Dry I’ve only read the ‘toon a couple of times - been following the tail-gate party put up by JFri-Tabby-Dry-Doc-Etc. ‘Toon is good…I like the irrascible poodle.
Hopefuly Tabby is on her way to the prom and having a good time, carmy had a real nice nap, marg has a Sh** load of e-mails to answer, JFri has gone missing! commic and Joy must be on the ship again, and I am enjoying 75 degree temps at 9:05 PM in central PA!
Filled out my youngest son’s dorm registration for this fall, :-(!!
Comrade, Welcome to the Big Top!
Doc, Working tonight?
I feel like such a doofus. I’ve been having allergy-like problems. I figured it was a chemo reaction. Today, I finally took a benadryl. WOW, that helped alot.
Dry, I got hives from eating a Stouffers lasagna. That’s why I have some benadryl. I can eat lasagana that I make with no problems.
JFri, Yea! The party’s on. Please make my steak well done and hold the rum.
I told my family to just cremate me and scatter the ashes in the ocean or whatever. I think that’s the least expensive.
Dry, will your son be close by?
well JFrI you had a good excuse! I hate funerals, like Lou Grant said on a Mary Tyler Moore episode, paraphrasing here, because I don’t remember the exact line, “put my hat on my head and set me out by the garbage can” or something to that effect!
carmy he will be about 1 1/2 hours away, better than my older son who is 3 1/2 hours away! Being a parent is great, there’s nothing you wouldn’t do for your child, no greater love, but when they leave, nobody warns you about that part! But I guess our parents went thru the same thing with us! It’s so TRUE what they say, “What goes around, comes around”! Not just in hateful ways, but in everyday life. Do you know what I’m saying, becasue I can’t put into words what I want to say.
JFRi thanks for the comment on the avatar! I was trying to put up Satchel from “Get Fuzzy” but I couldn’t do it and then came across Charlie Brown & Snoopy, that I’ve had saved FOREVER! The picture really appealed to me, something about a man or woman and their dog! An looking out over the water. I love the water!
Dry, I understand what you’re saying. My oldest is a junior so she will be graduating in 2010. My husband is already having a hard time with the thought of her going away to college. I don’t think it will hit me until she’s actually gone.
I’m serving cocktails. Family is over. You’re all family so join us. I just made my wife a new drink. Vodka, chambord, lemonade infused with rosemary. We’re having smoked salmon served with smoked salmon and vodka.
mmmm steak!
Not to worry, I think that comrad/NOFEAR is ok. I think I saw him here before. Nevertheless, NOFEAR, I have vouched for you, so you’d best behave.
Dry and carmy good luck with kids moving away and such, I wouldn’t know too much about it. I am the kid that moved out. All you can do now is trust that you raised them right and they will use what you taught them to be safe and successful.
carmy make the best of everyday with your oldest! The time for her to leave will come sooner than you think! It was hard for me when my oldest left, but now that my youngest is ready to spread his wings, well, you know what I’m saying! It will be even harder! I picture myself flooding the campus with my tears!!LOL, but not really! And I’m very sentimental to begin with! I have seen sad movies over and over and I still cry, so what does that tell you?
Dry I went to college to be a wildlife biologist & the DFW (Dept. Of Fish & Wildlife) said I was too white & too male to get a job with them! But I don’t think the parents were too sad to see me go….I was a wild child!
cleokaya I’ll take some of that new drink you mixed for your wife! I could use one! (or two, or three, LOL!) Gotta get used to RL real soon, so set me up with a big one! Then I’ll be a good girl!
Did you see my post about the magazine “Backyard Living”?
Dry, LOL. You are so sweet. I don’t think I’m as sensitive as I used to be. My husband will be the one crying up a river.
JFri, LOL for you too. I think they changed the locks when I left home.
So Joy is off with commic again. Hmph, she will have some splaining to do tomorrow.
Dry lost my dad in ‘92 to a heart attack at age 69 & lost my mom in ‘06 after 14 years of Alzheimer’s. My brother was a no show all 14 years & mom’s funeral so we are done now. But life goes on & it is good. My motto: if you can’t have fun don’t do it!
Dry, your cocktail is awaiting you. I know what you mean when you mention spending time on the internet. I really look forward to getting up in the morning and planting my fanny down in front of the computer and reading the comments. The comics, I love, but I look forward to everybody’s take on them that I look forward to most. I tell my friends about this and they give me kind of condescending little chuckle when I go on about how much fun I’m having and how I’ve met such nice people. But I don’t care. I’m hear for the duration.
Sorry for your losses JFri, but that is a good motto.
I also thought that these were a waste of time until I found these little (no so little anymore) parties.
Dry, I googled Backyard Living, because I wasn’t familiar with it. I am retired, but used to work as a travel photographer and writer. I used to be a field editor for a magazine that Reiman Publications used to publish, called Country Discoveries. I also had a lot of pictures published in Country.
JFri I’ve had more than enough sh* happen in my life! One was TOTALLy unexpected and threw me against the wall, which I won’t go into, and will never mention again! Just know that, he*, I don’t know, we all have our trials, but somehow, we get thru them if we have enough faith! I keep praying for a miracle in my life, which will probably never happen, but through praying, I’m coming closer to accepting what is to be and even though I don’t like the outcome, I am beginning to accept it and deal with it! I know that sounds like ^piss ass^ advice. The serenity prayer isn’t just for alcoholics, it’s for all of us going thru a difficult time.
I’m sorry for your pain, but even though we don’t “know” each other, I think we have a community of people here who care about each other! Hang in there, my friend! Your comments make my day! All you people make my day!
cleo I’m familiar with both those magazines, but haven’t read them in a few years. Raimen (sp?) publications have some lovely magazines, even tho’ at times they get repetitive. You said you googled Backyard Living. What did you think?
It is 1:05 Am> I haven’t been up this late in years! Well at least a few months! (giggle) I am going to go now! As I said before……
this is getting addictive, but if it weren’t for the people here, it would be a whole lot less addictive!
Good night all you great people out there! Sweet Dreams!
Dry trust me, I am a practicing Catholic. If I wasn’t I would have checked out a long time ago. As a teenager I lost 10 friends to very stupid car accidents and blamed myself, became a total introvert. Took a few years to wake up & shake it off but I did! That’s when I developed my motto in life!

Hi, Doc(you’ve met me - NoFEARPUP). Dry I’ve only read the ‘toon a couple of times - been following the tail-gate party put up by JFri-Tabby-Dry-Doc-Etc. ‘Toon is good…I like the irrascible poodle.

Hey doc!! “I’m Up! What’d I miss?” LOL
Other than that, I guess you didn’t miss much!

The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Carmy, as you wish, although I like my steak medium rare. Dry like the avatar!

Thing is NOFEAR, Comrad shows up all over SOTU where he’s never been seen before …

BTW I saw Joy going aboard commic’s ship. When will she ever learn?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
well JFrI you had a good excuse!

Dry every parent except mine go through empty nest syndrome….they held the door open & booted me out!

Oh JFri I can’t believe thay booted you out!
Doc I won’t be alone, but it will be wierd, my hubby and me alone again.
carmy over 15 years ago
johnny, you are very wise. What you said is exactly right on. Your parents definitely raised you right. What are you studying in college?
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
Thank you carmy, it comes and goes. I am studying biology right now en route to becoming a Physician’s Assistant.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
carmy make the best of everyday with your oldest! I have seen sad movies over and over and I still cry, so what does that tell you?
carmy over 15 years ago
johnny, that sounds like a good plan. I’m alot older than you, but believe me, it still comes and goes for me too.

Dry I went to college to be a wildlife biologist & the DFW (Dept. Of Fish & Wildlife) said I was too white & too male to get a job with them! But I don’t think the parents were too sad to see me go….I was a wild child!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
cleokaya I’ll take some of that new drink you mixed for your wife! I could use one! (or two, or three, LOL!) Gotta get used to RL real soon, so set me up with a big one! Then I’ll be a good girl!
Did you see my post about the magazine “Backyard Living”?
carmy over 15 years ago
Dry, LOL. You are so sweet. I don’t think I’m as sensitive as I used to be. My husband will be the one crying up a river. JFri, LOL for you too. I think they changed the locks when I left home. So Joy is off with commic again. Hmph, she will have some splaining to do tomorrow.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
JFri you were a wild child? Doesn’t surprise me LOL but I hope, if your parents are still with us, that you get along well!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
we must all be typing at the same time, because my posts show up in odd places!
I always said I didn’t understand how people could spend so much time on the internet until I “met” you people!!
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Dry lost my dad in ‘92 to a heart attack at age 69 & lost my mom in ‘06 after 14 years of Alzheimer’s. My brother was a no show all 14 years & mom’s funeral so we are done now. But life goes on & it is good. My motto: if you can’t have fun don’t do it!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry, your cocktail is awaiting you. I know what you mean when you mention spending time on the internet. I really look forward to getting up in the morning and planting my fanny down in front of the computer and reading the comments. The comics, I love, but I look forward to everybody’s take on them that I look forward to most. I tell my friends about this and they give me kind of condescending little chuckle when I go on about how much fun I’m having and how I’ve met such nice people. But I don’t care. I’m hear for the duration.
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
Sorry for your losses JFri, but that is a good motto. I also thought that these were a waste of time until I found these little (no so little anymore) parties.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry, I googled Backyard Living, because I wasn’t familiar with it. I am retired, but used to work as a travel photographer and writer. I used to be a field editor for a magazine that Reiman Publications used to publish, called Country Discoveries. I also had a lot of pictures published in Country.
carmy over 15 years ago
JFri, that is so sad about your Mom and Dad and especially your brother. You have a great attitude and motto.

I was just wondering about Tabby too. I hope she’s having fun.

All you people make my day!

johnnydoc wait til you’re a parent! Especially if you have a daughter! :-p
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
cleo I’m familiar with both those magazines, but haven’t read them in a few years. Raimen (sp?) publications have some lovely magazines, even tho’ at times they get repetitive. You said you googled Backyard Living. What did you think?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
It is 1:05 Am> I haven’t been up this late in years! Well at least a few months! (giggle) I am going to go now! As I said before…… this is getting addictive, but if it weren’t for the people here, it would be a whole lot less addictive!
