89 posts already - doesn’t anyone else have to work all day? Though I guess I didn’t post a lot this weekend, so I shouldn’t complain. I’m normally the one that sits back and listens to other’s stories and making a comment here and there. Don’t know why I would be different here - other than the people here seem to be nicer than most.
COMIC watch out you have someone telling joy love you. youve got some compatation going on. lol (spelt that so wrong, cant spell worth a darn. it sucks. )
JFri, it’s cloudy in Seattle too. But we have been in sunshine for about two weeks. I just came in from edging the lawn and watering new plantings. YES! I DID SAY WATERING IN APRIL!!! I am in a tank top and shorts and loving it. It’s supposed to end tomorrow so I am taking advantage of it.
I’m making cocktails in a little while. My wife likes a new drink that I have been making her. Fresh rosemary muddled with vodka, add chambord and lemonade. Served over ice in a tall glass. I also make an incredible margarita, no mix involved and a nice dry martini. So step on up, those that are interested. I’ll be serving on the deck.
Dry, I did answer, but it was late, you probably missed it. No, I don’t have a subscription to “Backyard Living”, but will try to find it. I was a travel writer and photographer and worked a lot with Reiman Publications, who publish the magazine. I used to be a field editor for a now defunct magazine they published called “Country Discoveries” and I also had many photos in “Country”. Both of these are part of the Reiman group of magazines.
Cleo My apologies! Yes I did see it! Sometimes I read so many things so fast, between home obligations, work, etc. I forget what I read! I try to keep up. Like doc says, I’m not addicted, no! I can leave here anytime! Believe that and I have a piece of property in Florida for sale! (Newver mind that it’s in a swamp! (LOL)
You should check out the magazine. I think you would like it! I would love to see some of your work! I’ll bet your job was interesting!
commicaddict you didn’t see he comment that was left? hold on ill paste it here…

Hey doc see what you miss when you sleep all day!!! LOL
And WE WANT DETAILS MISTER!! :-)
Cleo Yes I love to travel the countryside, so I know what you mean. We used to hit the raod when the kids were small and just where we ended up, a theme park , a state forest, petting zoos! Haven’t done that for awhile. My oldest lives in NY and my youngest will be heading off to college end of August :-(
My mom passed away 3 years ago, I’m an only, so I have my dad, still in his home, thank God! But it does put a crimp on travel plans and such. I’m not complaining. You do what you have to where you are in the moment!
I’m back from my Mom’s. Couldn’t remember my pass word so I( couldn’t check in.
Akenta - we are practically neighbors. I’m in Hall County. We do have our share of nasty weather in the spring but last week it was just lightning and some hail.
Dry - I love the picture of Snoopy and Charlie Brown by the lake. I fell in love with the Peanuts gang in the mid 60’s and never stopped. I have an entire room in my house devoted to Peanuts.
Dry, I started a whole new career when my dad became ill with leukemia. My mom had passed away three years earlier, at home, with myself and a couple of cousins taking care of her with my dad. I wanted my dad to be able to stay home as well. I had been working as a scenic photographer and I put my job on hold. Suddenly, Country Discoveries came into existance. My dad was doing okay at the time. Country Discoveries wanted travel stories that dealt with off the beaten track adventures. Since I live in WA I had a whole bunch of photos of the North Cascades highway. So, I sat down, wrote a travel article on the drive from Coupeville WA to Winthrop, WA on Hwy. 20 through the Cascades. The editor called and suddenly I was selling everything I could write and photograph. Instead of selling one photo to them like I’d been doing with Country magazine, I was selling many photos, plus the articles. It’s funny, with adversity, often comes opportunities.
I’ll be swinging in and out of here between commercial breaks! “”24”” and “”CSI Miami” are on tonight, and I don’t watch much network TV but these are 2 of my favs!
Dry, yes, it was a good day. I was able to get some things done and scratched off my list. I try to do all this on my non-chemo week so I can take it easy on THAT week.
okay guys. just checking in. have fun at the party. im stuck doing hw. so fun. well im going get it done so i can be a head of at least on time. later guys.
Cleo. it’s okay. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in Dec 06. I had a major operation in Jan 07 and all was fine. In Oct 07, we found that the cancer had spread to my liver. I had to get a medi-port (a permanent IV site) inserted in my chest for chemo. I started chemo in Oct 07 and in Oct 08, I went into remission. Last Feb, we found that the cancer is back on my liver, I had to start chemo up again in Feb. I do chemo every other week. I do chemo in the chemo room Mon, Tues and Weds and then they hook me up with a battery operated chemo dispenser that we have in a fanny pack on Mon that I keep until Wed. I’m sorry for the TMI. I just would like to remind everyone that this disease is still thriving. Please keep up with your regular check-ups.
donkeymom You don’t live in PA by chance? No, that’s right. You live in Ga, correct? One of my favorite sales ladies at our JC Penney store did the same thing with her Peanuts collection, and always wore, Peanuts clothes, jewelry, etc.
I had that picture saved for a long time! It “speaks to me” Calm, peaceful, a kid and his dog!
Cleo, Thanks. I was hoping I didn’t get anyone in a downer mood. If I did, here’s a funny. I went to a store after chemo with my fanny pack that has a tube going into my chest. The IV site is covered with a big bandage. So as I’m going in the store, this woman is walking out. She took a look at me and RAN to her car. I was like, what’s her problem? Then I realized that she probably thought I was strapped with an explosive and I was going to blow up the grocery store! I told my chemo nurses and they got a big kick out of that.
Carmy lol if she would have called the cops that would have been funnier. well not relly but yet at the same time it would have been. well off to eat suppper. i will keep u in my prayers. keep your head heald hi. your “toon family” is here to love and support you also. :D
carmy that’s what we are here for, to laugh, joke around, share our love of the comics, and share good and bad times with each other!
We may not “know” each other per se, but I think we have a friendly caring group here, so don’t worry! Just share your thoughts and hopefully all of us can have a place to vent as well!
Thanks Dry. BTW, I’m still waiting for the ship with the Jolly Roger.
In regards to Owlsly, I think he was sincere. I could feel his pain, it was too real.
carmy I’m still waiting too! I think our pirate sunk the ship! He’s not a very good navigator when he gets too many rums in him! Hope he didn’t drop Joy in the moat again! LOL!
Carmy, somehow my last comment didn’t get posted. In regards to your experience at the store, I referred to you as our own little terrorist. I guess that makes you a bombshell. Hubba, hubba.
commic get your sh** together, man! We been waiting here a long time, you scurvy pirate! You ready carmy? Better bring a life jacket! Don’t know as I trust his naviagating powers from what Joy’s been tellin’ me!
do any of you know how to dissect a lilly? i need to know. im teaching class tomorrow. ahh. i can’t find anything. the google thing is not helping. ahhh.

cleo I wouldn’t call this a warm climate. I’ll bet Nov-March you have much milder temps and little snow, rain maybe, I would settle for rain . The snow is nice if you’re safe at home watching it fall, even 10”, but it gets old fast and so do the cold temps.!
okay so personal question, i need to know why, and if it will get better…. so my dad has been fussing at me every time i turn around. no matter what i do, no matter how good i think i’ve done, no matter how much i get accomplished, no matter what, he is fussing at me for something. he has been fussing lately bc i don’t have enough time in my day. i go to school and get my stuff done. i do get on her, but heck i’m doing other things at the same time, such as babysitting and doing homework. i just can’t take it. i feel like im losing my mind. i am only one person. he goes to work, comes home and does nothing. i go to school till 12:39, come home, eat lunch, half the time get ana, work on cleaning the house, doing clothes, cooking supper, doing hw, making calls i need to make, doing work for him, checking his email, and staying up till 11 or 12 finishing my hw. yet i don’t get a thank you, i dont get anything except complain complain complain and yell yell. what do i do. i cry every night it seems. what do i do.
Carmy you got lucky unlike me. thank you so very much. now i have to fix all the lesson plans and junk that goes with it. so fun. its only 11:07 mind you. Lord help me.
I hear you Dry. Sweet dreams.
I’m just waiting on that clothes dryer AGAIN. I am also emailing back and forth with the hubby. He’s still over there by Africa.

I work for A large national automotive repair chain as A service manager…it is A very dyrty job….exhaust fumes and awl …I wyll return after showering and such just tew sea how the party is getting along I shall leave behind some fresh lemonade fore awl tew enjoy
Tabby, I just read your post about your dad. You need to have a sit down with him. Explain what is on your mind calmly. Perhaps he doesn’t realize all that you do. He may be stressed about something. You need to get some communication going on with him.
tabby My kids think I “hover” too much sometimes. Are you interpreting his concern for you as yelling and complaining? Maybe he can’t express himself the way he wants to. Some men have a hard time showing their feelings. You’re his little girl, don’t forget!
You say he comes home from work and does nothing. 1)* how stressful is his job? *2) does he provide well for all of you, food, clothes, schooling, college soon, medical care, etc.
I hate to bail on you now, sweetie, but it’s getting late for me and I have to work tmr. but for now ask yourself those questions and we can continue this tmr. Night Tabby! Sweet Dreams!
tabby…fore some of us who always do what is expected of us…to always do for the others…it never seems to become “our”time…just keep doing what feels wryte tew youre selfe and remember to thy own selfe be true…the rewards that wyll come your whey inn the future may be just what yew are after today keep A styff upper lip and always dew what your heart tells yew…and try not to cry every nyte…itl give ya wrinkles before there dew :>)
tabby, Listen up! You do good things and you need to feel good about yourself! Forget what your dad thinks….that is HIS problem, not yours! I’m guessing you will be getting out on your own soon. Just live for that and be proud, very proud of what you have accomplished and done in so short a life thus far!
Carmy, Dry, and Owlsly thanks. its just hard, for me to handle this all. im a sensitive person. he knows that. i have tried talking to him he just gets up set. he is a pain about it. idk anymore. when i try to talk to him i end up looking like the bad person even when i’m calm. hes job is not stess full all the time. i work for him i do what he does i know how it is so it makes me more upset. he does provide those things, but heck i need a break also. i am working on the crying thing, but when your family turns there backs on you when you need them most (a while back not now) it makes it hard. i regret a lot of things this last month or so. and i spend a lot of time thinking about that, then this tops it all off. ugh. i keep praying and holding my head high. giving it to God to help me out.
Owlsly, my husband is from Chicago, I lived there for 8 years. Big city heat and humidity is HORRIBLE. It’s even worse than where I grew up in South Texas.
Thank you Lord! i got the info all together just printed it out and now i am done. well all i have to do is pack up. then im done.
Jfri im staying here till im fin collage unless i find a guy and get married b4 i fin (lol that was so funny if you only knew that i dont date anymore well for now. its going to be a long 4 years)
tabby stay strong. God only gives us what we can handle! Four years seems like a long time at your age but look at it as the light at the end of the tunnel. You can make if you just lean on God and your “toon family”!
Jfri thanks i know i can lean on God and my “toon Family” you all have proven that lately. God has never failed me. He has kept me safe and my little Ana safe so many times. i praise him for it. and you guys and gals are great. you all just know what to say. thanks. love you all. lots of hugs.
Hijole, all these comments are getting mixed up.
Tabby, you’re getting some good advice here. All you can do is all you can do. Don’t stress out. Your prayers are being heard. You need to “listen” for the answers.
Thank you both. im going to bed now. im wiped out. i have to be back up at 5:40 at the latest. its 11:42 right now. so that will go by fast. so good night all. thanks for the sweet words. you are all great. crud… i just remembered i did not do something i should have done today… ill do it tomrrow. to tired to go on. well good night all. see you all tomorrow, with a new pic. i think all have seen this one. so its time for a new one tomorrow. :D this is kind of fun.

I also make an incredible margarita, no mix involved and a nice dry martini. So step on up, those that are interested. I’ll be serving on the deck.

cleo, I’m torn now! Come to your place or go with the pirate and Joy!
Yes, we seem to be having similar weather! Ours is to end on Wed. when the thunderstorms move in! It was 90 here today! Oh I just love the summer!!!
Of course Jfri, doc, and DF will be pleased! Then I won’t be able to rub it in anymore, LOL!
Hey you never ansewered my ? from the other day. Do you & your wife have a subscription to “Backyard LIving” magazine?

AAAARRRR tabby who be competition to me? Blast his hide, I’ll keelhaul his sorry arse to Jamaica & back!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry, I did answer, but it was late, you probably missed it. No, I don’t have a subscription to “Backyard Living”, but will try to find it. I was a travel writer and photographer and worked a lot with Reiman Publications, who publish the magazine. I used to be a field editor for a now defunct magazine they published called “Country Discoveries” and I also had many photos in “Country”. Both of these are part of the Reiman group of magazines.

Dry, bring the pirate and Joy. You can visit awhile and then decide what you’d like to do. I’m going to fire up the barbecue.

You other posters are welcome too. I mix the first cocktail. From then on help yourselves.

(LOL) You should check out the magazine. I think you would like it! I would love to see some of your work! I’ll bet your job was interesting!

Cleo, I’ll find those scalliwags and we’ll be over!

If more of these heathens would take that up, even as a hobby, they may be prepared. BTW for who ever is reading, I am A BAPTIST, and I am proud to say so. Questions? I’ll be around. Hey doc see what you miss when you sleep all day!!! LOL And WE WANT DETAILS MISTER!!
You do what you have to where you are in the moment!
donkeymom over 15 years ago
I’m back from my Mom’s. Couldn’t remember my pass word so I( couldn’t check in. Akenta - we are practically neighbors. I’m in Hall County. We do have our share of nasty weather in the spring but last week it was just lightning and some hail.
carmy over 15 years ago
Okay, where’s the party? I’ve been busy here in RL, but I’m not busy anymore. Drat, I missed Joy again!
donkeymom over 15 years ago
Dry - I love the picture of Snoopy and Charlie Brown by the lake. I fell in love with the Peanuts gang in the mid 60’s and never stopped. I have an entire room in my house devoted to Peanuts.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
It’s funny, with adversity, often comes opportunities.

carmy we aren’t sure where the party is yet. Pirate and Joy are supposed to heading over to Cleo’s and then we’ll decide from there!

cleokaya over 15 years ago
carmy, I didn’t know that you were on chemo. How are you? Feel free to not answer if I am being invasive.
carmy over 15 years ago
Cleo.

It “speaks to me” Calm, peaceful, a kid and his dog!

carmy, I will keep you in my thoughts. You have a wonderful attitude and that always is a plus. Go girl!
carmy over 15 years ago
Cleo, Thanks. I was hoping I didn’t get anyone in a downer mood. If I did, here’s a funny. I went to a store after chemo with my fanny pack that has a tube going into my chest. The IV site is covered with a big bandage. So as I’m going in the store, this woman is walking out. She took a look at me and RAN to her car. I was like, what’s her problem? Then I realized that she probably thought I was strapped with an explosive and I was going to blow up the grocery store! I told my chemo nurses and they got a big kick out of that.

cleo I wouldn’t call this a warm climate.

Sorry if it’s tmi i feel better now

Tabby, I just read your post about your dad. You need to have a sit down with him. Explain what is on your mind calmly. Perhaps he doesn’t realize all that you do. He may be stressed about something. You need to get some communication going on with him.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
tabby My kids think I “hover” too much sometimes.

Owlsly glad to see you back, but could you ease up on the Olde English, maybe? :-)
tabbylynn over 15 years ago
