Carmy and Doc are sick, so we have the hot cereal of their choice today, along with hot tea with honey and lemon. Yes, Doc, you can have your coffee, too.
Comicaddict I think there’s an appropriate song lyric that describes our little group:
*With only fear and good judgement
Holding us back
We sailed out on the Northern Sea
With a boat load of crazy people
Including the shotgun and me
Does somebody know how to drive this thing
Yelled the captain as he fell to his knees
I think I mighta had a little too much today
Take me to my cabin, please
Cruisin’ on a sardine boat
Loaded with crazy people
And we shall be the Santa Maria
Looking for a brave new world
JFri - Whose bike is in the background? Not sure I’m understanding here. Picture’s too small. It’s not mine, I got two wheels. Those are ATV’s behind you. There appears to be a dark square shape with an unclear image in the sky above your head, can’t clearly see what it is though.
[EDIT] OH! I see it now, that’s the flag from your ATV. Is that really what I think it is?
Good Morning All

JFri, that looks like a pirate flag in the background.
Marg, Thank you, I’ll have some cinnamon oatmeal.
Rad, chicken broth sounds really good, I’ll have some for lunch.

Morning, Marg. I think when commenting on the new toons last night we started on opposite ends of the toon spectrum. I didn’t see any of your comments until we posted the exact same comment at the same time on Foxtrot and proceeded along out paths because I saw your comments often after then.

Doc, I’m glad you are feeling better too.
Good afternoon everyone, it was raining but the clouds are breaking up. I am sorry, but I don’t know much about internet explorer. Don’t know much about those comics either so I don’t think that I can contribute much to those conversations, but Cleo’s house on the lake does sound fantastic. My uncle has a cottage on lake Michigan that is really nice wouldn’t mind something there when I am older.

DrT glad you’re doing better.
pookid I had the same thought about DrT’s cat - had to take a closer look.
nighthawks glad you decided to join us. It’s nothing like the Dick Tracy group. Though I have to admit I used to like the comments there better than the strip, but that is slowly changing.
**Dry, sorry about not crossing my fingers for your computer, was busy crossing it for mine. So far it’s still ok. Maybe in another week, I’ll stop being nervous about it. I wouldn’t think IE8 should affect Outlook
Johnnydoc you’re welcome to drop on by. And nighthawks, I’m the one who lives on the lake. It’s a beautiful spot in the Cascade foothills. If you are a crow I am less than 2 miles from the Puget Sound, so we have lots of seagulls visiting and Bald Eagles nest on our lake in Doug Fir, Hemlock and Cedar trees.
Now OE 6 is working again! I suppose it could be verizon’s fault but my computer is acting so weird! I don’t know! Printed out about 9 pages on what to do, I hate to tackle that now, though. It’s 80 outside and hear the weeds calling my name!
Morning, Marg. I think when commenting on the new toons last night we started on opposite ends of the toon spectrum. I didn’t see any of your comments until we posted the exact same comment at the same time on Foxtrot and proceeded along out paths because I saw your comments often after then.
LOL! I stsrt with my favorites first, then go back to the ‘A’s.
I sat down in my chair this afternoon, and promptly fell asleep. I’m sure that it has nothing to do what so ever with the fact that I got up at 6:00 AM to ride my bike.
Hi Marg, “You are a better man than me, Gunga Din”, if you get up at 6 to ride a bike! I don’t know why, I just felt like quoting that, LOL! Hope tabby is having a nice weekend!
marg do you ride your bike everyday? My wife and I do. My wife used to be a hardcore rider. Our property backs onto state land so there are a maze of logging roads behind us that she use to blaze before her injury. Now, she is pretty much restricted to paved surfaces, but she’s a dynamic little ball of energy anyways.
I’ve now gotten myself into the habit of reading 10 strips then coming back to Big Top, then reading 10 more, etc. It’s fun keeping track of this whole little world. We’re spread all over the place, but share this small community.
I had to leave the house at 10:00 this morning, so if I wanted to get a bike ride in, I had to get up. It’s getting hotter and hotter, so soon I’ll be getting up early all the time.
Cleo: I try to ride four days a week, 15 1/2 miles each day. I remember that you said that you wife had injured herself. There’s nothing wrong with riding on pavement. Hard core mountain biking is not my thing. The older you get, the longer you take to heal.
Johnnydoc: I grew up a town away from Lake Michigan, north of Chicago. I love that lake. We used to body surf when the waves were right. I still dream about Lake Michigan.
I had a bike accident two summers ago. I drove over a sand bur and my front tire was losing air. I was on my way downhill, went to make a turn and the bike wouldn’t respond. I flew over the handlebars and had a pain in my spine that when I moved made me feel as if I would pass out. Because of my wife’s spinal cord injury I took an ambulance to the hospital. No major injuries, but I couldn’t get out of bed so I slept in a chair for three weeks. It put fear into me. I now am very careful. People who don’t wear helmets are fools.
I enjoy reading your comments. Once I get done reading my comics for the day, I usually have to move on to doing work, so can’t really chat much.
I’m in Kansas - about as far from an ocean you can get. However, we’re out in the country, up on a hill, overlooking a flood plain. Recently, we’ve had “lake view” property!
marg I have a friend that lives north of Chicago (almost in Wisc). I can’t remember the name of the town, but it begins with a W and is hard to pronounce. I think it’s also changed it’s named. Are you from around there? lol
Hello RRAmom. Welcome. I am relatively new to Big Top as well, but have been made to feel most at home. We are a group of toon lovers that also like to socialize a bit. We like Big Top and have grown to like conversing with each other as well. Feel free to chime in when the spirit moves you.
RRAmom been reading your comments here and there! Love your avatar! Zits is another one of my favs! A mom with 2 sons can really appreciate that comic strip! LOL
So johnnydoc I am trying to get a feel for your age. By some of your comments I sense that you are younger than most of us. But, most of your responses could lead me to believe that you are an old fart, like me.
I had a theme song for our group in mind yesterday when I was listening to my CD mix. Then I come here today and see, was it DF*?, with a theme song so I didn’t post my idea, but am going to now. The song is “Dancing in the Moonlight” by King Harvest, but Van Morrison also did it. I love it, one of my favorite songs, very upbeat. Part of it goes like this *” Everybody here is outta sight, they don’t bark and they don’t bite, they keep things loose, they keep things light, everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight, dancin’ in the moonlight, everybody here is outta sight,” etc.
Hey you all, I took a nice nap and then I was hanging out with my girlies.
It didn’t take me too long to catch up here, seems like it was a slow day.
In regards to Jdoc, I think he’s not too much older than Tabby.
That is a mystery, my age. Younger than most but old enough to know some things. Cleo, I have been scared of bikes ever since I saw my brother flip over the handlebars when he was a kid. I just don’t trust things with wheels. I would like to give a hardy welcome to RRAmom and a hardy good night to Akenta. To Marg I will say I love lake Michigan, I have been a zillion times even though I live inland. But I stay away from the southern part down by Chicago where they put all the nasties in it. One more thing: Quit with the naked back flips, I would rather not imagine them, LOL.
johnnydoc you can google it on Jangle music, but you have to read the instructions close. You tyoe in the song title “Dancing in the Moonlight”. It was done by Van Morrison and King Harvest. I personally prefer King Harvest. It’s light and upbeat and the whole song seems to fit the Tribe! You can probably find somewhere else on the net that will play the song for free as well. itunes I think will only play a few verses.
I like Dancing in the Moonlight too but, I’ve only heard the Van Morrison version.
For my personal song, I’ll go with the one that says I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down.
carmy there are so many songs I love of all types, except country, heavy metal, punk! Your song I love! You should listen to King Harvest’s version of Dancing in the Moonlight! It’s just so upbeat!
HELP ME PLEASE! I went on to YOu Tube to see if I could find KIng Harvest’s version of Dancing in Moonlight for pookid and I’ve got Crimson and Clover playing and I can’t shut it off! Oh never mind, now the You’re Momma Don’t Dance and You’re Daddy Don’t Rock & Roll is on! I must’ve accidentally turned on the radio version of you tube! LOL
JFri, is that the title of the song?
Dry, I like all kinds of music. I’m really just into Christian music right now but, I “spin the dial” sometimes. I will check out the King Harvest version tomorrow.
JFri Just saw your post about “only my mother loves me … ” You’re so adorable, who wouldn’t love you? Unless, you go running around nicked in a car wash!! LOL
You guys are obsessed with naked in a car wash. Oh, but wait, it is the always stunning cleokaya that is on display. My motto “forever on display.” LOL
Dry, I do like the Eagles. I like some of Kenny Loggins song too.
Sometimes songs are just too played out for me. I’ve heard them so many times that I just can’t stand anymore.
yes cleo You are stunning! And I just realized it is 11:49 here on the east coast, and I have a sub to finish and fresh bed sheets to put on! No, what was it doc said, “I’m not addicted! I can quit anytime!” Yea right!
Goodnight all you lovely people!
Carmy from one mom to another, Happy Mother’s Day
*
carmy yes I did. Some other group remade it after KIng Harvest and Van Morrison, took away from the song, you tube has the album cover photo and you can play the song. That was in the day before videos, you tube, etc. Gosh, I guess that makes me old!

Getting late for me. Hope everyone has a good night (and DrT good morning to you)

Dry, I like your song. I have a feeling there are any number of songs that could fit our tribe, and it’s good to hear them all. Good night Akenta.

Hey, you guys just might enjoy my naked backflips.
carmy over 15 years ago

Oh yeah, Dry, don’t think that I have heard that song, but I like the lyrics :)

johnnydoc you can google it on Jangle music, but you have to read the instructions close. You tyoe in the song title “Dancing in the Moonlight”. It was done by Van Morrison and King Harvest. I personally prefer King Harvest. It’s light and upbeat and the whole song seems to fit the Tribe! You can probably find somewhere else on the net that will play the song for free as well. itunes I think will only play a few verses.
carmy over 15 years ago
I like Dancing in the Moonlight too but, I’ve only heard the Van Morrison version. For my personal song, I’ll go with the one that says I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down.

Hey JFri How ya’ doin’ buddy?
carmy over 15 years ago
JFri, is that the title of the song? Dry, I like all kinds of music. I’m really just into Christian music right now but, I “spin the dial” sometimes. I will check out the King Harvest version tomorrow.

Now the Eagles are on! Alright! Wish I knew how I did that! Good tunes on here (except for Crimson & Clover - GAG!!!)

JFri Just saw your post about “only my mother loves me … ” You’re so adorable, who wouldn’t love you? Unless, you go running around nicked in a car wash!! LOL

carmy I have “The Greatest Hits of Kenny Loggins” CD. You might enjoy his song “This is It”. In fact, you might enjoy the whole CD. I love it!

Cleo, you are crazy too. I read about your bike crash. Do you still have trouble with your spine?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
carmy yes I did. Some other group remade it after KIng Harvest and Van Morrison, took away from the song, you tube has the album cover photo and you can play the song. That was in the day before videos, you tube, etc. Gosh, I guess that makes me old!
carmy over 15 years ago
Dry, we’re only as old as we feel, remember?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
yes carmy I remember, but I have a feeling it’s going to smack me in the face some day!
And I must go! But I changed the sheets and still have my sub to finish, so GOD HELP ME, I’ll probably be back for one more round LOL!
carmy over 15 years ago
I had a sub too! I’m gonna stick around for a few and then I’m off to dreamland.

Cleo: Ouch! I once hit a dof that ran in front of me as I was going downhill. I flew over the handle bars, too, and needed some stiches.
