Okay, since I am first today, I will make hangtown fries, country fried potatoes, extra bitter orange marmalade, coffee (no name, but I could give doctortoon a run for his money) and fresh fruit and my homemade wheat bread.
Morning Marker 16
Morning everyone, I gotta finish some backyard bamboo destruction, then I can return. Trying to remove Bamboo is worse than pulling teeth, those roots are like trying to drag a 30’ centipede from the ground.
Dry, a hangtown fry is scrambled eggs with bacon and oysters. It’s generally served with biscuits, but I had some leftover boule, so I made a fresh loaf of wheat bread. And I am a fiend for really good orange marmalade.
So hello to all who are still up/ are up. anyways. Hope you are all having a great day today. Doc i missed you also. your going to have to send me some cat pics. they are so great. i think it is time for me to change my pic to something else. you guys never got to see the rest of the prom pics. sorry. not sure about putting them back up. :(
doctortoon you didn’t act like you were high or anything. The way I knew something was wrong, is you kept talking about going to bed and it’s the first time you have mentioned the bed as a vehicle for sleep. LOL

I see the tribe is doing quite a nice job of spreading the news of my love of life sans clothes around gocomics. I had to answer back on Non Sequitur a few minutes ago. Pretty soon they will slap an NC17 sticker onto my behind. LOL
chek out yesterdays bliss…lol and good morning to one and all including the new commers to our 3 ring circus..thanks for the breakfast
Morning tribe!
I want to thank everyone for the kind words yesterday - I am touched by your kindness.
I think I’ll contribute some bacon and homemade biscuits with sausage gravy for breakfast. I love breakfast food, but since I’m not a morning person (like Calvin is today) I do better at cooking, AFTER my caffeine has taken effect. I warned my hubby when I got married, that it was dangerous for me to cook before about 10am - eggshells might end up in the scrambled eggs, etc. Therefore, I can probably count on one hand the number of times in our almost 25 years when I’ve made breakfast before he left for work. Also, haven’t had to pack his lunch after telling him early on about the pranks my mom used to pull on my dad for April Fool’s day - and most of them had to do with his packed lunch. He does enjoy my cooking when I’m awake enough to read my recipe.
I’ve been telling my hubby he needs to buy another suit, because he’s outgrown all of his old ones, and I think he ought to wear one for Mom’s funeral. Our sons fit almost perfectly into his old ones, so their wardrobes are supplied. None of my guys like dressing up, but they sure look good when they do! My hubby would like to (un)dress like Cleo, but our sons don’t enjoy the view. With yesterday’s Non Sequitur, I kept wondering what mosquitoes ate before the Fall?
RRAmom can i call you Rmom*? i am looking for easer ways to get all the names right of the new comers, (sorry) if yuo dont like it tell me and ill use what yuo have.
i read your comment on stone soup that is funny. also i hate cooking but have to do it. i so said cook better when im tired. who knows how that happend.
tabbylynn - I’m a parent, but I sure don’t recognize those lyrics. But then, my kids usually watch videos instead of TV programs - easier to filter out the commercials and other unwanted stuff.
tabby - no problem. As long as something’s not meant as an insult, I’ll answer to about anything. (RRA stands for River Ridge Academy - the name we gave our homeschool when we registered it with the state as a private non-accredited school.)
Have a seat, doc. What you said about some things are worth a little pain, reminds me of what my hubby said not that long ago - he had neck surgery in March. I believe he was referring to the same activity.
Rmom once all the other parents get on i will give them a chance to see if they know it, i will tell you all what it comes from. it is one a video now, used to and still plays on tv.
so you home school? that is realy cool. i am becoming a teacher, so i could home school my kids (when i have them) if i wanted to, but i am not sure about it yet.
wow, i am totaly blown away right now. Ana went to bed at 9 last night, slept till about 7 and is now asleep in the chair and its only 9:43 am. she must not be feeling good. my poor baby girl. she slept all night. she had about 10 hours of sleep. it is strange for her to sleep so much. i hope she is okay. she is snoring. lol sha baby.
Good Morning everyone.
Tabby, I remember that song, that was back in the good ole days.
All this talk about food has made me hungry, despite all the talk about nudity. I must get some grub. I’ll be back in a jiffy.
Dry and Jdoc good morning!!! jdoc i can sing along with that song and more of them. you are so giving away your age. lol
*Dry i knew that song b4 ana did. that is scary. she just reminded me of it.
Morning all. cleo- thanks for the hangtown fries umm love oysters especially fresh from Apalachacola.
Anyone seen margueritem today? I usually see her comments before now. Hope she survived Mother’s Day.
Cleo when you joked about slapping an NC17 sticker on you, the first thing that came to mind was ”Why would they say she’s the starship Enterprise” - then realized it was NC17 not NCC1701. But before I get the deluge of comments, I am a trekker, not a trekkie! - I haven’t even been to see the new movie yet.
tabby Given my own experience when my sons laid around and slept, first thing I did was feel their forehead. Every time they were warm and coming down with a cold.
Dry she is hot bloded. ( for real) she always feels warm. i am about to check though. she looks like is feels okay and i asked her earler, being as smart as she is she can tell me. bb in a min going check on her and find food.
No worries Tabby, I am sure she will be fine. She sounds like a tough cookie. I think I know what that song is from, but I will let you tell everyone, because I might be wrong. *DF* Live long and prosper.
tabby you’re going to be a great mom someday! I’m sure if she is sick, it’s just a little cold. 100% fruit juice, chicken soup, applesauce, bananas, all help with colds.
Dry, thanks. and no need to worry i am not becoming a mom ANY TIME SOON. i dont want this stress day in and day out. it is a joy and i love her as my own, but i cant do that now. i am still young and i need to have a life b4 i start living for others. (((hugs)))
Dry the way I make Hangtown fries.
Fry bacon that’s been cut into bite size pieces.
Add oysters dusted in breadcrumbs and cook until just lightly browned. Remove oysters and bacon. Whisk eggs and add to pan with butter if needed, add tabasco and pepper. When eggs are scrambled, but still wet, add bacon and oysters to reheat. Serve. Garnish with chives or Italian parsley. Dill isn’t usually used as a topper, but I sometimes add it because it is good with seafood.
tabby - I don’t know the laws in your state for homeschooling (they vary by state) but I don’t think you have to be trained as a teacher in any of them. The homeschool moms who I know have been trained as teachers say that it is sometimes a disadvantage, because it is harder to “think outside the box”. I did accounting until I became a “stay-at-home” mom. The only subjects I wished I’d had taken to help me teach our sons were higher math & science. There are ways to get around that handicap (like having them take those courses from someone else) but it would have been very helpful. My plan for my post-homeschooling work is to substitute teach. I already meet the requirements for private schools in KS, but will need to take more college hours (in whatever courses I want) to meet the state’s requirements for public school teachers. Looking back on the last almost 20 years of staying at home, I don’t regret it a bit. My sons both love me, and tell me so, plus hugs are a frequent occurance. Considering they are 16 & 19, I know that is unusual at those ages. When it comes to riding with teenaged drivers, I really relate to Jeremy (Zits) mom, but that’s about it. I keep thinking that someone ought to start a comic about a homeschooling family, believe me, there would be plenty of funny situations to draw upon.
Rmom my dream job is to become a teacher. i want to teach 1st grade. so in about 5 years i can be teaching. i dont plan on having kids anytime soon. also i am single and 19 years old. i am not sure of the requirements either. hugs are a very odd thing from BOYS no matter the age. lol
I forget how to do this, can’t find my notes, but if you want to see something hilarious, go to:
http://travisablmultiply.com/video/item/73/the MississippiSquirrelRevival.flv
tabby, I agree that you need some time before becoming a parent. I married at 25, had my first baby at 30. Children do best with both a mom and a dad, so don’t rush into parenthood, until you’ve got someone who’ll make a great dad.
tabby then just type it in in the search bar,it’s worth it, at least I thought it was! I didn’t link it here ‘cuz I couldn’t remember how, so I just typed it in.
“It’s about time the men take care of breakfast! Thank you, Cleo!”
Hey, I’ll bring the cold pizza anytime! And if that’s not enough, there’s always toast: I’m good at peanut butter toast, or even sunflower seed butter toast for those alergic to nuts.
Dry - thanks for the encouragement! I’m not too sure how I’ll do at teaching a whole group, as I prefer one-on-one. But since I’ll hit the big 50 this summer, I don’t want to start working constantly. Accounting wasn’t creative enough for me - I’d rather be ethical. Substitutes are in demand I hear, and since I’ve taught every grade, at least I should be able to handle the subject matter. I’ll have to check with the administration on which discipline tactics are still allowed, but I plan on teaching in smaller districts where once my reputation is known, the kids will be less likely to keep testing me. I don’t like playing the “bad cop” but sometimes it is necessary.
marg where ARE you???? I saw you post elsewhere! Don’t make me come after you….I will bring the pirate!!! Dry after my family’s near death experience yesterday and your comments about my cooking, indoors or out….:-P
I know this is long, but I just had to share with all you cat lovers.

As seen in a cat’s diary:
Day 198 of my captivity…
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal.
The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.
Today my attempt to kill my captors be weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded – must try this at the TOP of the stairs.
In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair – must try this on their bed.
Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a “good little cat” I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan.
There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices; I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly, I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of “allergies.” Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.
I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. However, I can wait; it is only a matter of time….
@RRAmom, that reminds me of the fellow who sat down to lunch every day, opened his paper bag to pull out a bologna sandwich, and exclaim, “Bologna again! I hate bologna!”
Well, after this went on for three days, one of his fellow workers suggested he just let his wife know he hated bologna.
“But you don’t understand! I’m the one who packs my lunch!”
(I know, I know. I have a seriously warped sense of humor.)
And, another thought: RRAmom, why don’t you start the comic strip about homeschooled families? Write about what you know, after all…
@tabbylynn, I hope you don’t mind my using your name over at Calvin and Hobbes, but I felt it fit…
bmonk When we went to visit my great Italian aunt, we always had peanut butter toast for breakfast, and we would dip it in coffee. When I was a kid, I was allowed to have coffee that way and only that way. Go figure!
By the way, I am allergic to tree nuts (deathly), but peanuts are a legume, and almonds are related to the peach. But I think you already knew all about my allergy from my message at Pib one time!
JFri sorry you’re depressed. If your weather had changed to the boring light downpour with the sky gray with no definition we have going on here, it can just make the situation all that much more dreary.
bmonk Great joke! My hubby packed himself a peanut butter sandwich, day after day. Once he started working where there’s a fridge & microwave, he switched to leftovers. At least I cooked supper when I was fully awake, and they’d already been vetted to be prank-free.
BMonk & Dry - loved the squirrel video, poked around on that site and came across this hilarious one for Doc and the other cat people:
http://tinyurl.com/qn4bgg
Joy welcome how r you today? we dont do alright without you. the only reason we have this many is bc we have somany new faces and we also have me here all day. :D you guys all know that i am a bit chatty. also im hiding from ana right now. told her i was going potty and if she followed me she would have to potty like a big girl. lol she is po with me now. still sitting at the table playing w/ lunch. lol i am a terrible person.
Aye, Joy some of th’ crew can come along as long as they behave themselves & respect our privacy! I be crustin’ th’ edge of ye old keg with salt as we speak!! On ye olde menu we have mullet stew, steamed clams, fresh salmon, beer steamed shrimp, a wee bit o’ lobster and rum raisin cake fer desert! May even throw in some corn on the cob…got it fer only a buck an ear!!
AAAARRRRRR, Tribe members! As i was walkin’ down th’ street ta other day a lady asked me if I be a pirate? Me reply was “what in blue blazes do ye think I am if not a pirate?” Then she says to me “If a pirate ye be then where are yer buccaneers?” I told her they was under me buckin’ hat, where else?
Last night we washed and dried a load of clothes. I found a capped ink pen in the dyer when I removed the clothes. I took off the cap off the pen and got blue ink all over my left hand. I got it off with alcohol.
AAAAAARRRRRRRR, Dry, did ye miss the invite above? Look again! That thar Joy…she be sech a kidder! Pretendin’ to head to sleep when we have our big date tonight! AAARRRR, be this post 150???
157 posts - that’s a lot to catch up on. I think I’m half way through, but I may have to come back later and finish up.
Hope everyone is doing fine. I didn’t see anything to be worried in the first half (except for little Ana). All of our sick people seem to be ok now :-)
Akenta Little Ana is doing a lot better, turns out she was swetting bc the house is hot. she is fine. wide awake and crazy as heck as normal. she is fine and crazy. brused my knee for me and she smells a little funny. lol played outside alot.
to all of you parents out there… do i want to have kids?? tell me the truth is it really worth it??? yes they are cute and loving and oh so sha, but gosh i need a break.
tabbylynn, in my opinion Barney is the most annoying program in the world. Take old purple Barney out and the woods then lose him. Hopefully, it will take him weeks to find his way out. Or, better yet, shouldn’t he be extinct? LOL
Akenta i know i spelt it wrong i just dont remember how i got spell check on here a while back. i need it bigtime. lol thanks for your help
cleo i need to kill barney. i hate it. the only reason i deal with it is bc that bleeep kid love it and it keeps her quite of a long time. the songs get stuck in your head and that is bad, but what can i do?
hey guess what…. Ana is gone… for now. she will be back in a few hours till then i am going to get cleaned up and take a break sit back and watch a moive or read. also eat. see you all later. it may be a late night. peace and love to all of those who leave b4 i get back.
tabby your avatar is not a rose, unless you’re talking about something else! :-)
Having kids is great, but it’s also a lot of work, a lot of joy, a lot of crying sometimes, but you already know that, so give yourself a break after Ana, college, career, etc. You think of Ana as your own, but wait until he/she is your own!
Hey, Cleo we’ve had sunshine most of the day!!!!! :-Ptabby being a parent is worth every minute of it! Just don’t rush into it! Take your time, breathe a little, live a lot!
Dry I just answered how I ended up in the PN and it didn’t appear. My parents moved to the Pacific Northwest from North Dakota when I was a junior in high school. All my vacations involve going to the tropics and up until this winter, with the crazy drop in the stock market, we were spending our winters naked in the tropic zone of Texas, down on the very southern tip. Now, I live in such a beautiful location, that I can’t imagine moving to any place better, except when it rains.
cleo read Pooch Cafe. YEAH I remember Karen Valentine! D A ^ ^ Y O U for reminding me I ain’t no spring chicken! Pookid is older than we think, and johnnydoc is a youngin’ (altho he didn’t post over there), but we were wondering about his age!
And since you were talkin’ about sexy babes, I’ll talk about sexy dudes, back in the day, Tom Selleck, Gordan McRaney, James MacArthur! and a few others!
Dry, do you perhaps mean Gerald McRaney? He was always in such good shape. I wonder what happened to him. But, then again, I haven’t seen TV in 4 years.
There’s no tilting your head involved Akenta. And it is not a smiley face, just his paw (I guess) with what look like two black eyes a big black nose and a little slash for a mouth. Oh, never mind. I do have a pretty active imagination.
Well, I am off to a dinner of salmon with asparagus and orange over fresh lemon pepper fettucine. Man, I love having a wife who likes the same food as I do.
I would go to South Padre Island carmy. It was about an hour’s drive from where we lived in a little town called Edcouch, believe it or not. We had many good friends there, most all winter Texans, including a large group from Quebec.
Actually carmy we were on our way to South Padre Island to spend Christmas, on our way to the Florida Keys. We stopped in for a night at this RV resort in Edcouch and ended up staying that winter and the next. The first winter in Texas we spent some time in Big Bend. But, because I was a travel writer and photographer, we spent most of the time on the road, until 2 years ago.
Doc be carefull at work. Carmy good evening to you.
Rmom good evening to you, also.
Cleo hello
i am about to go get ana for the night (again) so i was just droping by to say hi. she should be fin eatting by now and hopefuly tired as heck. be back later. maybe
tabbylynn you seem like you have way more responsibility than you need right at the moment. But, you seem to handle it well. Actually, I am very impressed by you in general.
carmy the closest that I have gotten to Brownsville is the Flea Market on the north edge of town. I loved how all the Mexicans visited the market. The caucasion version of that flea market is the Don-Wes market. But, at the Brownsville market, I bought four Hawaiian shirts (not tacky) for $5 a piece, all with their original price tag still attached.
Cleo, you got a good deal on those shirts. We used to get ours on South Padre and we paid more than 5 dollars. :(
Tabby, Hope to talk to you tomorrow. It’s late for me and I’m heading down to the jetties for an ocean cruise with 2 great gals and a scurvy pirate.
Goodnight All.
reading all thease friendly chatter reminds me that ther are good and friendy people on this planet…more than otherwise…it is so warm reading all you guys..I wysh eye dydnt have tew work sew much…it wood bee nyce tew spend more tyme here chattin and relayting quips wyth yew all eye shall have to suffice by reading at the end of the dey…but its styll fun to be part of thys trybe..thanx for noticing me tabby!!!
oh Akenta ana was doing better. LOL was is always the word with her. she went home for a few hours. and she “Got sick” (threw up) what is funny about it, is that for once it was not me she got sick with. she always comes back here sick (so it seems) this time it happened over there. she is now back at “tabby and Ana home” alseep in my chair. sha baby. she will be better by morning. going scoop her up and plop her in bed. night all talk with you tomorrow. Peace and Love to the whole tribe.

I know this is long, but I just had to share with all you cat lovers.
PET DIARIES
As seen in a dog’s diary:
8am – Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite! 9am – Oh boy! A car ride! My favorite! 10am – Oh boy! A walk! My favorite! 11am – Oh boy! A car ride! My favorite! Noon – Oh boy! The kids! My favorite! 1pm – Oh boy! The yard! My favorite! 2pm – Oh boy! The kids! My favorite! 3pm – Oh boy! The kids! My favorite! 4pm – Oh boy! Dog food! My favorite! 5pm – Oh boy! Mom! My favorite! 7pm – Oh boy! Playing ball! My favorite! 9pm – Oh boy! Sleeping in Master’s bed! My favorite!

Go figure!

tabbylynn you seem like you have way more responsibility than you need right at the moment.

:( Tabby, Hope to talk to you tomorrow. It’s late for me and I’m heading down to the jetties for an ocean cruise with 2 great gals and a scurvy pirate. Goodnight All.
