    I think it may also be her last time.

    Mornin’ all! Since I have another busy day wanted to share my lighter breakie with anyone who’s interested. I brought Naval & Mandarin orange segments, pineapple tidbits, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, honeydew, canteloupe - all in close to bite size pieces to keep one hand free for chatting. At the end of the table is the clamato & V8 juice, V8 Splash & Fusion, and orange, grapefruit or apple juice.

    JFri Hope you don’t mind if I swipe a cinnamon roll…sounds too good to pass up.

    You folks are really blowing my attempt to get my weight under control. ‘Course then I read on to Lio, Calvin and others and I get back on track.

    Wishing all a sunny & pleasant day!

    yea doc we sure are! My turn to tell a joke: Wife from Pennsylvania Three men married wives from different states. The first man married a woman from Michigan. He told her that she was to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.

    The second man married a woman from Missouri. He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and cooking. The first day he didn’t see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was a huge dinner on the table.

    The third man married a girl from Pennsylvania. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed and to have hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn’t see anything, the second day, he didn’t see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher!

    The problem with my wife is that she is forever motivated. It’s great when it comes to exercise to keep her body as fit and mobile as she can with her injury, but when it comes to chores, she surges through them like a machine and tries to catch me up in her tornado of activity. I shy away from chores, if I can. So at times I try to blend into the woodwork to avoid the little whirling dervish. It doesn’t usually work.

    Article from the Tibe Toon Daily Post: In a tragic turn of events margueritem has been reported missing! There are two theories about her mysterious disappearance. One is that she was simply confused for a recipe item in a dish called Pirate surprise omelet. A second theory is that JFri went into a jealous rage when he discovered she had beaten him to the first post of the day. Any Tribe members with any information in this case are urged to call 1-800-555-CLUE. In a seemingly unrelated matter, Joy618 is also missing and a search party is being organized. A theory on that disappearance involves a pirate by the name of commicaddict. Again all tips in this case should be called in to the hotline listed above.

    The reason “DF” won’t go bold is that the *s only work when the text to be made bold, italicized, or both, must be at least three letters. Hence, “**DF**” gets treated as “italics on ‘*DF*’”

Besides, she don’t cost me no arm & a leg fer our dates…jest me leg!” Totally unrelated, JFri is being held without bond for attempted murder of Drystyha, although authorities say the case is weak and may actually be attempted suicide by eating & drinking while reading BT posts!

    I got all of my favorite toys from one of my grandpas. He gave me a western style carbine rifle, that you could load with plastic bullets. When you pulled the trigger it would make a ricochet sound and when you cocked it, it would release the “spent” shell.

    Anybody remember cap guns? Do they still make them? My kids never had any, but I did! Loved the smell of those spent caps! Oh and I (oh gawd I hate to say this, I’ll never hear the end of it from 2 certain individuals) had a Davy Crockett coonskin cap!

    Dry did I have cap guns????? Try matching Fanner 50’s from Mattel and the derringer with the belt buckle that used Greenie Stick ‘Em caps & shot a plastic bullet! Plus I had another derringer that had a “cartridge” that consisted of a brass base with a lead insert & a red plastic cap. You put the cap between the brass & the lead and it fired the bullet! Was I satisfied with that?? NOOOOOOO! I filled the hollow lead part with gunpowder from firecrackers and THEN pulled the trigger. Blew it up!! Lucky no one got hurt!

    My dad used to manage a grain elevator in ND. As a kid we used to make rubber band guns and run all over inside and out of the elevator shooting at each other. Those rubber bands would sting like crazy.

I used to joke that all I needed was to photoshop a fake certificate for 25yr membership in the Postal Service chapter of the NRA ;) . Our farm was across a creek from an 18hole golf course, and he was the worst hazard on the 4th hole. He was known on occasion to shoot the balls off the green with his .270 from a hill on our side of the creek.

    AAAAARRRRRRRR, D F, me hearty! I be enjoyin’ the little ditty ye sent our way! And fer all ye varmints too lazy ta look it up, here ‘tis:

    Well, I used to be a farmer and I made a living fine I had a little stretch of land along the C. P. line But times got tough, and though I tried, the money wasn’t there The bankers came and took my land and told me, ‘Fair is fair’ I looked for every kind of job, the answer always no ‘Hire you now?’ they’d always laugh, ‘We just let twenty go!’ (Ha ha!) The government, they promised me a measly little sum But I’ve got too much pride to end up just another bum Then I thought, who gives a bleeep if all the jobs are gone I’m gonna be a pirate on the river Saskatchewan! (Arr!)

    {Refrain:} And it’s a heave (ho!) hi (ho!), coming down the plains Stealing wheat and barley and all the other grains And it’s a ho (hey!) hi (hey!), farmers bar yer doors When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores

    Well, you’d think the local farmers would know that I’m at large But just the other day I found an unprotected barge I snuck up right behind them and they were none the wiser I rammed the ship and sank it and I stole the fertilizer Bridge outside of Moose Jaw spans a mighty river Farmers cross in so much fear, their stomach’s are a-quiver ‘Cause they know that Captain Tractor’s hiding in the bay I’ll jump the bridge, and knock ‘em cold, and sail off with their hay

    {Refrain}

    Well, Mountie Bob he chased me, he was always at my throat He’d follow on the shoreline ‘cause he didn’t own a boat But the cutbacks were a-comin’ and the Mountie lost his job So now he’s sailing with me and we call him Salty Bob A swingin’ sword, a skull-and-bones, and pleasant company I never pay my income tax and screw the GST (Screw it!) Prince Albert down to Saskatoon, the terror of the sea If you wanna reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me! (Arr!)

    {Refrain}

    Well, the pirate life’s appealing but you don’t just find it here I hear in north Alberta there’s a band of buccaneers They roam the Athabasca from Smith to Fort MacKay And you’re gonna lose your Stetson if you have to pass their way Well, winter is a-comin’ and a chill is in the breeze My pirate days are over once the river starts to freeze I’ll be back in springtime, but now I’ve got to go I hear there’s lots of plunderin’ down in New Mexico

    {Refrain}

    When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores! (2x)

For the non-farmers and those who live far from the Canadian border, the C.P. Line is referring to the Canadian Pacific Railway, and the Co-Op is a common fixture in Canadian agricultural communities, a membership run store/dealership for farming supplies and equipment. It really amazed me during a snowstorm this winter when schools were closed. There weren’t any kids out playing. Jfri: Keep publishing the news, I’m enjoying it. To answer your question, no, no rattlers were sighted. I see them on the bike trail, however. They’re usually laying out at full length, taking in the sun. They blend in so well with the dirt that you usually don’t see them until you’re almost on top of them. There has been quite a spate of rabid animals attacking hikers around here, foxes and bob cats. One of the bobcats walked into a bar that had its door open, and the fool that bent down with his picture phone had to go get his rabies shots.

I have spent the last few days on the internet looking for oceanfront lodging on the west coast of Vancouver Island trying to find a getaway for my birthday. Suddenly, all the ads on gocomics are talking about getaways on Vancouver Island. I never knew they could be geared to us specifically on this site.

    Did you use Google to search for them? They use your searches to target their ads at many sites.

    Well Dry you ought to swing by. My dog is the best. She is our dog but has the run of our dead end street and hangs out with several neighbors daily. One day my wife went to visit an elderly lady that lived a couple of doors down. She knocked on her door and our dog Cleo ran barking to the door. Our neighbor let my wife in and said to Cleo. “Cleo, you go lie down.” She is the neighborhood dog and even has a path carved out on her regular visits.

    cleo now I know where your moniker comes from! What kind of dog, oh wait, I remember a conversation we had some time back, when I thought you were a she, LOL It’s a lab, correct? I believe the conversation was over at Dog Eat Doug and I thought Sophie was a cocker spaniel!

    Yep, Dry my moniker comes from two of the three dogs that I have had in my life. Kaya was a dog that passed away several years ago. I never thought that I could find a smarter more lovable dog. She could have been on TV, if she wasn’t so nervous around people. I could direct her by commands to go anywhere and get into anything. Cleo is my present dog, who is personality wise, totally different than Kaya. She is laid back and loves everyone, but she is also very smart. I never thought I could replace Kaya and I didn’t. Dogs are like people. They are all different and you love them for different reasons.

    cleo you are so right! I’ve had 4 very special dogs in my life, and a very special cat. I have loved all my animals, and they were all different. My two mutts Teddy & Gallagher were rescued, smart, loving, GREAT dogs! Had them both for 17 years and they grew up together! Gallagher always walked on 3 legs! The vets said there was no damage to that leg. Never knew why he did that, but he was so fast, even on three legs! And we had the BEST yellow lab! Susie, when she died, Teddy & Gallagher didn’t eat for three days and went all over the house looking for her!

    Dry, I got my dog Kaya from PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society). She was so nervous when I first saw her in her kennel, that she tried to climb up the back and get as far away from me as she could. Something drew me to her. Once I decided I wanted to adopt her, I had to leave her there that weekend and pick her up after she had been spayed. When I went to pick her up that Monday, it was like she knew I would be her new family. She curled up on my lap and stayed there as I drove home. She bonded with me instantly and it was so odd, because she had been so scared on our previous encounter.

    My sports teams are always lame. When I used to have TV, i had a difficult time watching the games because I felt I was jinxing them, but heck they haven’t improved since I stopped watching. The biggest debacle are the U of WA Huskies. They went from being number 1, to the bottom of the conference. They never recovered from recruiting scandals.

    cleo I know what you mean about jinxing your teams! I always felt like I was jinxing the Packers and then the Jets when Brett went there! I would start to cry when they lost the big ones and my husband would say, “well they played lousy” or “Brett played a bad game he should have stayed retired”, and then I would get mad at him, too, and storm off!

    JFri and Cleo and anybody else The three cats we have now: the first came on Christmas Eve this past year (wearing a flea collar, declawed and spayed, no less), as my sweet baby girl, my other avatar, was beginning to see her last days. When she passed, my husband said the new one needed a playmate so my son & I went to ROFF Rescue our Furry Friends to find one. I wanted the one, my son wanted the other, so we ended up coming home with two more. My son and I took them down to the basement and showed them the litter boxes. My husband came home, we were looking suspicious, he said “What, did you get another cat or not?” Wellll we said .. and the rest is history! The one, the owners decided in the dead of winter that they wanted a dog, and she was pregnant, so they called ROFF and said if they didn’t take her they were going to throw her out to fend for herself, she was barely a year old! AND SHE IS SO SWEET AND AFFECTIONATE! The second one we got, was dumped with her brother when they were 2 days old. The brother died! She’s a hoot! The only problem with her, she is SUCH a PIG! One of docs previous avatars resembled her in size!

    Sorry for the long post guys!

Blackie liked me just fine until I got her spayed, but ever after that, if I picked her up and started walking, she would jump out of my arms - scratching if need be.

    To those going to bed and work, peace be with you. I am up for awhile longer and am feeling content after a wonderful dinner. I am facing 5 nights as a bachelor beginning on Thursday as my lady goes to the coast for a girls weekend. So, everybody…party at my place. I provide the booze and food. You guys bring your mix. The hot tub is ready, the lake is cold, but swimmable and the fire pit is loaded with wood. We have bedrooms and places for tents. Come one, come all. I don’t want to feel lonely, so show up en masse.

    thanks for the encouraging wordes…I shall not countinue in that vein tho…I got A real HOOT( get it?? (owlsly) reading the posts of the tribes love of experimental “explosives” such as caps and what not…I have A short tayle from when I was A youngin…and not to bryte My friends and I …living in A town in the north east which will remain nameless as they still talk of the night the trees caught fire soit shall not be uttered…well we figured out that gas…cooking gas is lighter than air…and if you turned on the burner top and got on o dem big ole hefty bags and put it around the manifold(with out the flame) the bag would fill and float…we had lots of fun fillin up all sorts of bags and lettin them loose out the 3rd story window and watchin them float away…well one of us (guess who) got the bryts idea that if we tied a tail to the bottom of the bag and pushed it out the window an lit it on fire it just might….JUST MIGHT float away and EXPLODE!!!! well my fellow Tribesman and women…it did just that …a very very loud KaBOOM!!! well we did it a few times and it worked like A charm…we would fill A bag…push it out the window and tie it shut with a rubber band pull down the window sill and tie a “tale to it…light it and open the window and off it would sale …the flaming tale( saturated with alcohol by this time as it was taking to long to ignite) would quicky burn nd the bag would go up in a boom right quickly….well as late afternoon turned into dusk…and darkness krept in…we figured we had time for one more…little did we relise the wind had picked up and the next bag would be carried rather swiftly beyond the field that was acting as our buffer zone and was about to guide our biggest effort into the tree lined barrier of the field….did I mention that it was late October…and the maple trees were in full splendor of golds and reds??? and teh leaves were dry as could be??/ well if not it was and they were!!! the bag drifted quickly through the darked dusky night sky and for all appearances stopped right as it got to the tree line and then FWOOM the whole nyte sky lit up!!! the first tree lit like A roman candle bright as miday and the next tree lit right after it!!! all in all 4 trees wnt up that night three towns fire dept came to watch as they burned…no loss of property (other han the trees and no lifes or personal injury…we all felt realy bad…but not bad enough to give ourselves up…the morning papers county wide ran the story…we were front page news…none of us spoke of it for a very long time…out of shame?? embarrassment or just not wanting to get caughtI still a have a few of the news papers from that morning…I havent looked at them for what seems to be a life time…havent even thought of this till I read the story of the bulls eye…well I hope ya all got a chuckle..hope I dydny bore ya all to tears…

    thanks Tabby…it is hard to deal with….especially if you are just the non drinkin type….it gets me angy…sad…fed up…makes me want to scream at her…but I no that those emotions wont get us what we need…and now with having to do all the house work and clean up after her drunkin binges all day…makes me more angry….two weeks of this and I am readyto explode….but I can not…and I am loosing my ability to feel “sorry” for her…soon I will be the one who needs help…

    Owlsly i can relate. i have not had to clean up after them but ive seen it and live with it every other weekend. my mom is a drinker and her and my step dad do and deal drugs and think i dont know. im not stupid. you both will just have to get help. there is nothing else you can do. get her help some how. if yuo have to drag her while she is passed out do so. some how get her help. she will hate you for it at first, but thank yuo later. tell her the mugging is not her fault tell her she will be okay. show her people who have moved on. gosh i wish i could help.

    Owlsly, you need to talk to someone, and i mean someone beyond us. Stress is becoming a major part of your life. If your wife won’t join you, talk to someone on your own. You can not carry on this way. It is not good for you, it is not good for your relationship and it is going to just get worse. I hate being the bearer of negative news, but thing are not going to change unless you provoke change.

    JFri, I am the same way. I love cigars, but I do not inhale. I even have a cigar deck. It is on one of the highest areas of our yard and presents the greatest view of our lake. I don’t use the deck that often. It is in the shade and serves as a place to sit on the hot days of the year, when you need a breeze. But…it is indeed called the cigar deck.

    tabbylynn if you are the last one standing then I am the last one sitting. One thing that has happened since I have become a person that posts at this site…I worry about many of you that are not as fortunate as I to be in a loving, stress free relationship. If thing are as tough as they sound for you tabbylynn, please continue to remain the special person that you are and do not let anyone else change who you are.

    so i am back. i told you all earlyer that i would post what happened today, later when i was able to do so…. well here it is.

    we had graduation practice today. well my dad, mom, step dad, step grand-paw, and brother all showed up for it. it went well i did not cry. :D yet. so on the way out my dad starts complaining about how he could not see me and that when the teachers did the little hug thing “no one could see a D*thing” and this and that. we get in the truck and he keeps it up. all the way to the store and then home. today and tomorrow were supposed to be the two days of my life I’m supposed to look back on and Cherish and be happy about. yet he ruines it like that. i told him and he says whatever and walked off. what am i going to do.
