Good morning everyone!! I didn’t wake up earlier like I wanted - in fact I overslept :-( I did manage to catch on last night’s comments. I don’t think I’ll be on any more today - though I should try and sneak on so I don’t get too far behind here.
Mornin’ all! Since I have another busy day wanted to share my lighter breakie with anyone who’s interested. I brought Naval & Mandarin orange segments, pineapple tidbits, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, honeydew, canteloupe - all in close to bite size pieces to keep one hand free for chatting. At the end of the table is the clamato & V8 juice, V8 Splash & Fusion, and orange, grapefruit or apple juice.
JFri Hope you don’t mind if I swipe a cinnamon roll…sounds too good to pass up.
You folks are really blowing my attempt to get my weight under control. ‘Course then I read on to Lio, Calvin and others and I get back on track.
yea doc we sure are!
My turn to tell a joke:
Wife from Pennsylvania
Three men married wives from different states. The first man married a woman from Michigan. He told her that she was to do the dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.
The second man married a woman from Missouri. He gave his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and cooking. The first day he didn’t see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was a huge dinner on the table.
The third man married a girl from Pennsylvania. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed and to have hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn’t see anything, the second day, he didn’t see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher!
I can’t wait to see what is on the cheat sheet.
Morning Everyone!*Dry, I liked your joke, very funny. Made me think I might be from PA. ;)
I have some appts today so I will be in back on here when I can.
We had a t-storm last with hail. It was very small hail.
Peace and Love to you all.
Have a good day too!

Good morning all. Since I am being a good boy I am only eating dcguys” fruit and of course nuclear coffee. Yes, **doctortoon I could help Wink. That used to be my scene and I was pretty successful with the whole bleeep routine.
Good Morning All!
.
Dry I liked your story of the 3 ladies. A while back I gave my wife a fridge magnet: “No woman ever shot a man while he was doing the dishes.”
The problem with my wife is that she is forever motivated. It’s great when it comes to exercise to keep her body as fit and mobile as she can with her injury, but when it comes to chores, she surges through them like a machine and tries to catch me up in her tornado of activity. I shy away from chores, if I can. So at times I try to blend into the woodwork to avoid the little whirling dervish. It doesn’t usually work.
Morning all. hope we are all well rested today. Jfri and Commic if you did anything to my Marg it wont be prety.:-P bring her back!!! Jdoc you didn’t get it the first time??? you need more sleep. :D Owlsly if you dont mind me asking, how is you wife doing? you dont have to answer if yuo dont want to…. going make my rounds be back soon.
No worries Tabby, everything here has been so good-natured that I figured that this was too. If anything someone could insult me and I would think that they are joking LOL.
Morning tribe! Those cinnamon rolls sound great - yum!
I hope I keep my internet - we’re having a thunderstorm, and the IP tower nearby keeps going down, probably because of lightning.
so back to the commic above as someone said yesterday (?) this one is great. i cant waite to see what is on the list. when i read the first box, i like to die laghing when i want to make my bro laugh i lean over and say “so, come here often” and he normal bust out lauhing. lol
I cheated - someone else figured them out a while back, I just copy and pasted. I found them just now though, using the Character Map application (Accessories/System Tools/Character Map), they’re down near the bottom of some of the fonts like Arial and Times New Roman.
Article from the Tibe Toon Daily Post: In a tragic turn of events margueritem has been reported missing! There are two theories about her mysterious disappearance. One is that she was simply confused for a recipe item in a dish called Pirate surprise omelet. A second theory is that JFri went into a jealous rage when he discovered she had beaten him to the first post of the day. Any Tribe members with any information in this case are urged to call 1-800-555-CLUE. In a seemingly unrelated matter, Joy618 is also missing and a search party is being organized. A theory on that disappearance involves a pirate by the name of commicaddict. Again all tips in this case should be called in to the hotline listed above.
Tribe Toon Daily Post weather forecast: We will have gathering daylight by dawn, continuing daylight until dusk when we will see gathering darkness with total darkness through the night. We will have a 100% chance of daylight tomorrow, except where Digital Frog lives!
Johnnydoc I’m up in Alberta, the weather isn’t all that bad actually, yesterday was beautiful in fact. They’re only expecting a possibility of 1 cm of snow on Thursday, probably overnight and it usually disappears quickly. Daytime temps right now are around the mid-60sF, nights are still hovering around 30-40F
JFri You slay me! You keep doing this sh^^ to me! I know you’re trying to kill me! The only way I can defend myself is to stop eating or drinking anything when I’m reading these comments! gasp, choke
doc read your post at Bliss. My kids collected the transformers. And legos. Do you know how many thousands of pieces of legos I have. I don’t know what to do with them. I suppose someone could use their imagination and put them to good use without any instructions!
*DF* you must be real busy this day, if you’re spending your time trying to figure stuff like that out! (says the lady who should be doing a reimbursement request instead of sitting here doing this LOL)
Okay smarty, (JFri). I do the same thing with DF as I do with everything else, and it NEVER goes into bold. I split them up in that last post and it highlighted.
“doc read your post at Bliss. My kids collected the transformers. And legos. Do you know how many thousands of pieces of legos I have. I don’t know what to do with them. I suppose someone could use their imagination and put them to good use without any instructions!”
I’m partial to these:
http://www.andrewlipson.com/escher/waterfall.html
and http://www.andrewlipson.com/escher/ascending.html
The reason “DF” won’t go bold is that the *s only work when the text to be made bold, italicized, or both, must be at least three letters. Hence, “**DF**” gets treated as “italics on ‘*DF*’”
Tribe Toon Daily Post update: A pirate using a the alias commic addict has been detained by authorities in the disappearance of margueritem & Joy618. In a press conference commic addict was quoted as saying: “Why would I be harmin’ the bonnie Joy? She caught me eye when I first met her and I’ve been hooked ever since! Besides, she don’t cost me no arm & a leg fer our dates…jest me leg!” Totally unrelated, JFri is being held without bond for attempted murder of Drystyha, although authorities say the case is weak and may actually be attempted suicide by eating & drinking while reading BT posts!
Look at all you Yappy Nuts!
Just yapping away while I’m running around here getting things done like a psycho on the loose. So, I got caught up on all these comments and now I have to leave again in a few minutes. I’ll be back later this afternoon and then I’ll have to catch up again(!)
Peace and love!
Dry my son had umpteen million Legos and used them in a robotics class at USC. Somehow they all got left there :-( I still have his collection of Transformers & original Star Wars EVERYTHING!
When I was a kid with my brothers, we used to have billions of legos it seemed, plus little matchbox or hot wheels cars and lincoln logs and blocks. We were never too interested in star wars or comic books. Just building little worlds– good times.
Cleo - cool, I’ve never been to Hay Lakes, (looks a little too close to Edmonton for me) but I have a brother who lives in Ponoka, just a little ways SW of there.
We tried not to give our boys weapon related toys when they were little, but bought tons of Lego to fuel their creativity. They were creative alright, one of the first things they did was make guns out of Lego…
I got all of my favorite toys from one of my grandpas. He gave me a western style carbine rifle, that you could load with plastic bullets. When you pulled the trigger it would make a ricochet sound and when you cocked it, it would release the “spent” shell.
Anybody remember cap guns? Do they still make them? My kids never had any, but I did! Loved the smell of those spent caps! Oh and I (oh gawd I hate to say this, I’ll never hear the end of it from 2 certain individuals) had a Davy Crockett coonskin cap!
Dry did I have cap guns????? Try matching Fanner 50’s from Mattel and the derringer with the belt buckle that used Greenie Stick ‘Em caps & shot a plastic bullet! Plus I had another derringer that had a “cartridge” that consisted of a brass base with a lead insert & a red plastic cap. You put the cap between the brass & the lead and it fired the bullet! Was I satisfied with that?? NOOOOOOO! I filled the hollow lead part with gunpowder from firecrackers and THEN pulled the trigger. Blew it up!! Lucky no one got hurt!
JFri what good is technology if you don’t use it? :()¦
.
My brother and I used to have replica pirate pistols that fired those little plastic caps that were 5x louder than the paper caps. We got kicked out of part Virginia City for staging a mock gunfight.
Never put doctortoon & Dystyha in a boat together, because if you did you would forever be In drydoc. Thanks tabbylynn your last comment set this up for me.
My dad used to manage a grain elevator in ND. As a kid we used to make rubber band guns and run all over inside and out of the elevator shooting at each other. Those rubber bands would sting like crazy.
Dry* i had the guns also. DF. you should have known, boys will be boys and they will make guns out of anything. i had some kids make guns out of sticks. lol boys.
Tabbylynn True enough, I never told my boys about my weapon building exploits until they were older. Anyone remember making tennis ball cannons/spud guns out of pop cans and lighter fluid?
JFri We actually made a gasoline powered cannon once using the same principle. 6” diameter barrel, used it to fire tin cans from our tree house. Corollary: Never mess with farm boys - we were making explosive devices looong before the Web.
In fact, farm boys + pirates reminds of this video:
http://tinyurl.com/5szpg6
.
Cleo, if you grew up with the grain industry in ND, you should get a good laugh if you haven’t already heard the song.
.
If you want to read the lyrics, they’re here:
http://tinyurl.com/qmskfy
like Dry i must be going. i need to try to get ready for tonight. it takes a lot of work to look halfway decent. lol i still have Ana so ihave to figure out how i am going to straiten my hair with her here. she may be going outside to see her uncle while i do that. bbl p and l all
Jfri - Ya, I had a roommate with a copy of that, and The Poor Man’s James Bond (Last I heard, both books were on a govt restricted list) I used to work in a hardware store as a teen where we sold reloading supplies, so I never had to make my own :)
tabbylynn says: DF. Jfri remind me to never make you mad. lol
LOL - at my last job, everyone thought I was this nice, friendly, clean cut guy, then I’d haul out these stories about making cannons, explosives, etc. and they never knew for sure how to take me. I used to joke that all I needed was to photoshop a fake certificate for 25yr membership in the Postal Service chapter of the NRA ;)
.
But don’t worry, I no longer own any firearms, I just like to shake up people’s conceptions of me sometimes.
Jfri Never used Bulleseye, but my friend and I used to shoot gophers with overloaded .222s.
.
My little brother was actually the one to watch out for. Our farm was across a creek from an 18hole golf course, and he was the worst hazard on the 4th hole. He was known on occasion to shoot the balls off the green with his .270 from a hill on our side of the creek.
DF! and they say I’m insane? That would be your brother :-) On the Bullseye, just open up a gopher mound, pour in a 1/2 pound, lay a trail of powder & light!
Tribe Toon Daily Post update: With the reappearance of Joy618) charges against commic addict may be dropped. There are still questions as to the whereabouts of margueritem> Sources close to the case report that Joy618 may be providing an alibi for commic addict. It has also been rumored that Joy618 is seeking a restraining order against the notorious pirate. We will provide updates as they become available.
Dry ain’t it so? Hey some guy just rang the doorbell & asked if I was JFri. I said no, that I think he lives in PA somewhere! Looked like a process server :-O THAT ought to keep him busy for a while!
Joy you leave earlier and earlier and I always miss it! :-( Goodnight to you my friend! Oh wait a minute, her and the pirate are cookin’ something up! Well, gee, you brought us along last time but if you want rid of us for an evening, just speak up! We won’t be offended! (well, maybe) LOL
so i am dressed and ready for dress rehearsal. (sp) im am burning up. wow it is hot. i am even wearing a spagattie strap shirt and a skit. all black. we are so in morning. anyways i need to go tell my father to get a move on it. we need to leave shortly. talk to yuo all late, hope i dont trip. peace and love be back tonight. dont post tomuch. lol
You people are hereto forthwith charged with keeping me out of docT’s COFFEE! LOOK what it has done to me today! Next thing you know I’ll start talking like a scurvy pirate!
AAAAARRRRRRRR, D F, me hearty! I be enjoyin’ the little ditty ye sent our way! And fer all ye varmints too lazy ta look it up, here ‘tis:
Well, I used to be a farmer and I made a living fine
I had a little stretch of land along the C. P. line
But times got tough, and though I tried, the money wasn’t there
The bankers came and took my land and told me, ‘Fair is fair’
I looked for every kind of job, the answer always no
‘Hire you now?’ they’d always laugh, ‘We just let twenty go!’ (Ha ha!)
The government, they promised me a measly little sum
But I’ve got too much pride to end up just another bum
Then I thought, who gives a bleeep if all the jobs are gone
I’m gonna be a pirate on the river Saskatchewan! (Arr!)
{Refrain:}
And it’s a heave (ho!) hi (ho!), coming down the plains
Stealing wheat and barley and all the other grains
And it’s a ho (hey!) hi (hey!), farmers bar yer doors
When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores
Well, you’d think the local farmers would know that I’m at large
But just the other day I found an unprotected barge
I snuck up right behind them and they were none the wiser
I rammed the ship and sank it and I stole the fertilizer
Bridge outside of Moose Jaw spans a mighty river
Farmers cross in so much fear, their stomach’s are a-quiver
‘Cause they know that Captain Tractor’s hiding in the bay
I’ll jump the bridge, and knock ‘em cold, and sail off with their hay
{Refrain}
Well, Mountie Bob he chased me, he was always at my throat
He’d follow on the shoreline ‘cause he didn’t own a boat
But the cutbacks were a-comin’ and the Mountie lost his job
So now he’s sailing with me and we call him Salty Bob
A swingin’ sword, a skull-and-bones, and pleasant company
I never pay my income tax and screw the GST (Screw it!)
Prince Albert down to Saskatoon, the terror of the sea
If you wanna reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me! (Arr!)
{Refrain}
Well, the pirate life’s appealing but you don’t just find it here
I hear in north Alberta there’s a band of buccaneers
They roam the Athabasca from Smith to Fort MacKay
And you’re gonna lose your Stetson if you have to pass their way
Well, winter is a-comin’ and a chill is in the breeze
My pirate days are over once the river starts to freeze
I’ll be back in springtime, but now I’ve got to go
I hear there’s lots of plunderin’ down in New Mexico
{Refrain}
When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores! (2x)
Marg went to bed, as she had to get up at 6:00 to go hiking. And yes, I did remember to turn the alarm clock on. 25 people showed up for the hike today.
Wow, D.F. that song covers half the WHL….Saskatchewan Blades, Regina Pats, Prince Albert Raiders & the Moose Jaw Warriors! But what about the Price George Cougars, the Red Deer Rebels, Swift Current Broncos, Kelowna Rockets, Brandon Wheat Kings, Medicine Hat Tigers, & Edmonton Ice? (did I miss any up that way?) I think the rest are in B.C. or the U.S.
Tribe Toon Daily Post weather forecast: We will have gathering daylight by dawn, continuing daylight until dusk when we will see gathering darkness with total darkness through the night. We will have a 100% chance of daylight tomorrow, except where Digital Frog lives!
LOL! And this foecast is guranteed to be 100% correct. Poor DigiFrog. (
JFri I’m not a big hockey fan, but there’s at least 2 more teams in Alberta a believe, the Calgary Hitmen and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. For the non-farmers and those who live far from the Canadian border, the C.P. Line is referring to the Canadian Pacific Railway, and the Co-Op is a common fixture in Canadian agricultural communities, a membership run store/dealership for farming supplies and equipment. The music video was filmed in the West Edmonton Mall, here it is again for those that want to watch/hear it:
http://tinyurl.com/5szpg6
I remember Greenie Stick’em caps! We always got the kind that came in little sqaures and you had to rip them apart. I still have my little metal bomb that you would load with caps (we put in as many as we could), tighten down, hold it up as high as you could, and drop it nose first onto the cement.
I go to town for a few hours and come back to a bunch of nutso anarchists. LOL
pookid I was going to get on you for spreading these rumors about my tendency to drop trousers at a moments notice, but I’m afraid that I did the same thing at Frog Applause today.
I’m back, tribe members!
Our internet went down for a while, but it’s back up now. However, I’ve had to work hard to catch up on all the messages, on our breaks between schoolwork. Well, back to Algebra - hope I survive! :(
We never made guns out of leggos. Just battleships, fighter planes (esp biplanes), and assorted space ships. And that was back in the middle ages, when they didn’t even have cute little humanoid types, and only an assortment of mostly square blocks. Imagination is better than detailed toys any day…
bmonk, I don’t think kids have imaginations nowadays. Everything is available to them instantaneously. They don’t have to think. It really amazed me during a snowstorm this winter when schools were closed. There weren’t any kids out playing. When I was a kid, everyone of us would be out making forts, having snowball fights and building snowmen. Now they just sit in front of the computer. Oh…wait a minute…so am I.
Dry You had better get your Penguins going! I want them to win the Stanley Cup, especially since my Sharks flamed out in the first round and Marion Hossa left you for Detroit! EEEEEWWWWWWWW!
My cousin is so bummed that the Canucks are out of the playoffs. They have been gone for a month in their motorhome, but religiously watching the games. So sad, to bad.
Tribe Toon Daily Post Final Edition: It appears that margueritem was simply out on a hike and not part of a pirate surprise omelet. All charges against commic addict have been dropped and he has been released on his own recognizance in whatever stupor that may be. He was last seen sailing for Florida in the Black Raven. Rumor has it there will be a cannonball hail storm on the Florida coast tonight.
No high winds today around here, Dry, but not real far away they had enough 1 inch hail to cover the ground 1 inch deep. We had high winds last week, only around 80mph here, but there were 100+mph straight-line winds that did some major damage NE of here.
Just letting you folks know I’m evesdropping again. Nothing to say but now I have to clean my monitor after laughing with you all! If I don’t see ya before, g’nite & pleasant dreams.
Thanks for letting me tag along & enjoy the company & victuals. (see http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/victuals if you don’t believe me.)
Jfri: Keep publishing the news, I’m enjoying it. To answer your question, no, no rattlers were sighted. I see them on the bike trail, however. They’re usually laying out at full length, taking in the sun. They blend in so well with the dirt that you usually don’t see them until you’re almost on top of them. There has been quite a spate of rabid animals attacking hikers around here, foxes and bob cats. One of the bobcats walked into a bar that had its door open, and the fool that bent down with his picture phone had to go get his rabies shots.
marg you need to be careful between the rabid animals & the rattlers! I had to give first aid to 2 snake bike victims in my life and neither was fun nor convenient to an ER!
cleokaya says: I just discovered something a little disturbing. I have spent the last few days on the internet looking for oceanfront lodging on the west coast of Vancouver Island trying to find a getaway for my birthday. Suddenly, all the ads on gocomics are talking about getaways on Vancouver Island. I never knew they could be geared to us specifically on this site.
Did you use Google to search for them? They use your searches to target their ads at many sites.
Cleo Here’s a site you might find useful. Also, if you are a AAA or CAA member, you can get the accomodation and tour guides for free for any of the states or provinces.
Well Dry you ought to swing by. My dog is the best. She is our dog but has the run of our dead end street and hangs out with several neighbors daily. One day my wife went to visit an elderly lady that lived a couple of doors down. She knocked on her door and our dog Cleo ran barking to the door. Our neighbor let my wife in and said to Cleo. “Cleo, you go lie down.” She is the neighborhood dog and even has a path carved out on her regular visits.
cleo now I know where your moniker comes from! What kind of dog, oh wait, I remember a conversation we had some time back, when I thought you were a she, LOL It’s a lab, correct? I believe the conversation was over at Dog Eat Doug and I thought Sophie was a cocker spaniel!
Yep, Dry my moniker comes from two of the three dogs that I have had in my life. Kaya was a dog that passed away several years ago. I never thought that I could find a smarter more lovable dog. She could have been on TV, if she wasn’t so nervous around people. I could direct her by commands to go anywhere and get into anything. Cleo is my present dog, who is personality wise, totally different than Kaya. She is laid back and loves everyone, but she is also very smart. I never thought I could replace Kaya and I didn’t. Dogs are like people. They are all different and you love them for different reasons.
cleo you are so right! I’ve had 4 very special dogs in my life, and a very special cat. I have loved all my animals, and they were all different. My two mutts Teddy & Gallagher were rescued, smart, loving, GREAT dogs! Had them both for 17 years and they grew up together! Gallagher always walked on 3 legs! The vets said there was no damage to that leg. Never knew why he did that, but he was so fast, even on three legs! And we had the BEST yellow lab! Susie, when she died, Teddy & Gallagher didn’t eat for three days and went all over the house looking for her!
Dry, I got my dog Kaya from PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society). She was so nervous when I first saw her in her kennel, that she tried to climb up the back and get as far away from me as she could. Something drew me to her. Once I decided I wanted to adopt her, I had to leave her there that weekend and pick her up after she had been spayed. When I went to pick her up that Monday, it was like she knew I would be her new family. She curled up on my lap and stayed there as I drove home. She bonded with me instantly and it was so odd, because she had been so scared on our previous encounter.
My sports teams are always lame. When I used to have TV, i had a difficult time watching the games because I felt I was jinxing them, but heck they haven’t improved since I stopped watching. The biggest debacle are the U of WA Huskies. They went from being number 1, to the bottom of the conference. They never recovered from recruiting scandals.
Pets are so great because all they want is love. No hidden agendas. I have been lucky. I have traveled a lot and my dogs have not been prone to car sickness. I have pictures of Cleo from all over the US and Canada. She has her own scrapbook.
Dry & cleo, Cache was a rescue dog in Utah. Someone dumped him, his mom & his brother in the snow to die! We drove out & back on a weekend in February to get him! Imagine THAT road trip! But we all bonded instantly!
dcguys I guess a lot of us have special animal family members that truly were a part of the family!
cleo I know what you mean about jinxing your teams! I always felt like I was jinxing the Packers and then the Jets when Brett went there! I would start to cry when they lost the big ones and my husband would say, “well they played lousy” or “Brett played a bad game he should have stayed retired”, and then I would get mad at him, too, and storm off!
JFri & Akenta welcome back. Pets are so special and sports teams suck. It is better to put your effort into loving a pet than any team, unless it’s a sled dog team. LOL
DrT no I don’t have to go to work early - it starts at 8, but I like to leave home before 7 so I miss the one school zone and the other traffic. Soon it will be summer and the kids will be out. I like to have time in the morning to read the comics (and now to catch up on the previous night’s comments here)
so Cleokaya that explains your screan name here. i feel bad just calling you Cleo now that i know the story. wow. i understand i miss my babies also. they come into our life and all they want is love. they love you no matter what. it makes my wish that the people in this world were more like that.
I think I got caught up - just skimmed everything, since I have some more stuff to do tonight. Cleo I do understand about your dogs. I can never replace the cat I used to have, but the two cats I have now are just great. They both have distinct personalities. As for no hidden agendas, I’m not sure about that :-)
JFri and Cleo and anybody else The three cats we have now: the first came on Christmas Eve this past year (wearing a flea collar, declawed and spayed, no less), as my sweet baby girl, my other avatar, was beginning to see her last days. When she passed, my husband said the new one needed a playmate so my son & I went to ROFF Rescue our Furry Friends to find one. I wanted the one, my son wanted the other, so we ended up coming home with two more. My son and I took them down to the basement and showed them the litter boxes. My husband came home, we were looking suspicious, he said “What, did you get another cat or not?” Wellll we said .. and the rest is history! The one, the owners decided in the dead of winter that they wanted a dog, and she was pregnant, so they called ROFF and said if they didn’t take her they were going to throw her out to fend for herself, she was barely a year old! AND SHE IS SO SWEET AND AFFECTIONATE! The second one we got, was dumped with her brother when they were 2 days old. The brother died! She’s a hoot! The only problem with her, she is SUCH a PIG! One of docs previous avatars resembled her in size!
Cleo with your proclivity to go nekkid I would, indeed, believe it would be dangerous for you to use tools! I am good with tools as long as it doesn’t involve wood. Everything I EVER made of wood became an ash tray! OK I did get some woodwork done around the house but it was scary!
We have had a big scandal up here involving puppy mills and people abusing the animals they have. It really p*sses me off. People end up with animals they choose to starve. I will never get another pet that I haven’t adopted.
doc my husband comes home from work and sleeps for about 2 hours, even in summer! Not me, that would be wasting the best part of the day! Dark time is for sleeping!! But I know, you work nights.
JFri I know what you mean. They call me the router and it has nothing to do with power tools. And, being “nekkid”, at least I have my most productive tool available on command.
doc your time clock is just different than mine! If I had to work nights I don’t think I could! More power to you, my friend! As I said to marg the other day, “you’re a better man than I am Gunga Din!” :-D
Doc I can understand the shift thing as well. My wife works midnight to 8am, I have to get after her to make sure she gets enough sleep, it’s too easy for her to do 36 hour awake runs.
I’m still here. We had a wonderful (male) dog - Great Pyrenees, Shepherd & Chow mix, which we named Curly. The (female) cat Blackie belonged to Curly, and died within a year of Curly’s death. Blackie liked me just fine until I got her spayed, but ever after that, if I picked her up and started walking, she would jump out of my arms - scratching if need be.
When I worked for someone else, I always hated the late shifts. A shift of 7AM to 4PM would fly by, but if I was scheduled to work from 1PM till !0PM, the work shift seemed to last 3 times as long.
RRAmom my boy cat was named Curly when I got him. He had two brothers Larry and Moe that were adopted before him. I renamed him and his sister and they seem to be ok with their new names.
No fighting over Tabby (yes I’m kidding!). I won’t be able to stick arount for beating the current record but good luck with that all. I’m signing out for the evening now that I feel warm & fuzzy after reading about all the adoptionsl. I was right to start following this tribe. You all have huge hearts & let it show.
Good night & pleasant dreams. Oh…and don’t work too hard Doc. Gotta keep fighting that bug. Glad everyone’s getting back to themselves.
Almost forgot to thank you for keeping me updated on the live action reports on Marg, Joy and
(cont.) I guess I ran over. …and Dry. I was beginning to worry that we were also losing comicaddict to the dungeon in Id. Glad you’re being proved innocent.
Well, I am still here. I have finished dinner and I am looking for action. I know that margueritem will be here later, but who is here now? JFri, you should be around. Wah, I am lonely.
I guess one more thing. tabby says she’s having problems getting onto this site and not to send out a search party. No, I didn’t kidnap her - I won her fair and square.
hiya all…back from A long days grind…but work is a necessary evil…And hello Tabby I dont mynd yew asking about Megan…she has not been her selfe since the “mugging” or robbery…she has fallen to drinking again..I cant do much to stop her or keep her from it..I work near 12 hours A dey…wyth wednesdeys and saturdeys off…I get to late mornings …also..she drinks her selfe to tears and then passes out for most of the dey…then the next dey she is at it again..by the 3rd dey…usually A wednes dey she spends most of the dey in bed which leaves me to do the house work,,,which I do…half heartedly if you know any drinkers then you are well aware of the routine I am enduring..it is hard I cant help and cant support her if she is drunk…i realy dnt like being around any one who is drunk…but I love her and its tearing me up inside to see her like this…she had an appointment with her “doctor” in Manhattan today…she didnt go….I wish she would have…but look at me bringing this place down …and you are all having such a wonderful tyme…I shall sit back and catch up on all the chatter and try to not add any more of my problems here…thanks for asking and allowing me to get A wee byt off of my chest
Owlsly, I am so sorry. It is such an effort of have a relationship, period, but with complications it just becomes that much more difficult. We all are here for you, feel free to vent. i applaud you for your love and understanding. You are a special person. Hopefully, your situation will reverse itself. If not, we are here to commiserate with.
owlsly, your wife needs to talk to someone. Someone not part of the family. An individual who will lay it all on the line and tell her everything from an unbiased objective point of view. Your wife needs help.
Well I would like to see us get to 300 but I too, must say goodnight! Oh by the way MARKER 288 We is on fire here! We’ll burn up this site if we keep it up!!
To those going to bed and work, peace be with you. I am up for awhile longer and am feeling content after a wonderful dinner. I am facing 5 nights as a bachelor beginning on Thursday as my lady goes to the coast for a girls weekend. So, everybody…party at my place. I provide the booze and food. You guys bring your mix. The hot tub is ready, the lake is cold, but swimmable and the fire pit is loaded with wood. We have bedrooms and places for tents. Come one, come all. I don’t want to feel lonely, so show up en masse.
thanks for the encouraging wordes…I shall not countinue in that vein tho…I got A real HOOT( get it?? (owlsly) reading the posts of the tribes love of experimental “explosives” such as caps and what not…I have A short tayle from when I was A youngin…and not to bryte My friends and I …living in A town in the north east which will remain nameless as they still talk of the night the trees caught fire soit shall not be uttered…well we figured out that gas…cooking gas is lighter than air…and if you turned on the burner top and got on o dem big ole hefty bags and put it around the manifold(with out the flame) the bag would fill and float…we had lots of fun fillin up all sorts of bags and lettin them loose out the 3rd story window and watchin them float away…well one of us (guess who) got the bryts idea that if we tied a tail to the bottom of the bag and pushed it out the window an lit it on fire it just might….JUST MIGHT float away and EXPLODE!!!! well my fellow Tribesman and women…it did just that …a very very loud KaBOOM!!! well we did it a few times and it worked like A charm…we would fill A bag…push it out the window and tie it shut with a rubber band pull down the window sill and tie a “tale to it…light it and open the window and off it would sale …the flaming tale( saturated with alcohol by this time as it was taking to long to ignite) would quicky burn nd the bag would go up in a boom right quickly….well as late afternoon turned into dusk…and darkness krept in…we figured we had time for one more…little did we relise the wind had picked up and the next bag would be carried rather swiftly beyond the field that was acting as our buffer zone and was about to guide our biggest effort into the tree lined barrier of the field….did I mention that it was late October…and the maple trees were in full splendor of golds and reds??? and teh leaves were dry as could be??/ well if not it was and they were!!! the bag drifted quickly through the darked dusky night sky and for all appearances stopped right as it got to the tree line and then FWOOM the whole nyte sky lit up!!! the first tree lit like A roman candle bright as miday and the next tree lit right after it!!! all in all 4 trees wnt up that night three towns fire dept came to watch as they burned…no loss of property (other han the trees and no lifes or personal injury…we all felt realy bad…but not bad enough to give ourselves up…the morning papers county wide ran the story…we were front page news…none of us spoke of it for a very long time…out of shame?? embarrassment or just not wanting to get caughtI still a have a few of the news papers from that morning…I havent looked at them for what seems to be a life time…havent even thought of this till I read the story of the bulls eye…well I hope ya all got a chuckle..hope I dydny bore ya all to tears…
yeah, I know JFri, I don’t need the mixer either, but there are some ladies present. Now, my idea, normally. would be to get them naked, but this is a special group. Respect is the name of the game here.
I can’t believe it. It is 9:04 and still light out. I love this time of year. The only negative is it seems like the longest day of the year should be in August, not June.
thanks Tabby…it is hard to deal with….especially if you are just the non drinkin type….it gets me angy…sad…fed up…makes me want to scream at her…but I no that those emotions wont get us what we need…and now with having to do all the house work and clean up after her drunkin binges all day…makes me more angry….two weeks of this and I am readyto explode….but I can not…and I am loosing my ability to feel “sorry” for her…soon I will be the one who needs help…
Owlsly i can relate. i have not had to clean up after them but ive seen it and live with it every other weekend. my mom is a drinker and her and my step dad do and deal drugs and think i dont know. im not stupid. you both will just have to get help. there is nothing else you can do. get her help some how. if yuo have to drag her while she is passed out do so. some how get her help. she will hate you for it at first, but thank yuo later. tell her the mugging is not her fault tell her she will be okay. show her people who have moved on. gosh i wish i could help.
Owlsly, you need to talk to someone, and i mean someone beyond us. Stress is becoming a major part of your life. If your wife won’t join you, talk to someone on your own. You can not carry on this way. It is not good for you, it is not good for your relationship and it is going to just get worse. I hate being the bearer of negative news, but thing are not going to change unless you provoke change.
tabbylynn you are such a source of good information. I am so sorry that you have a home life that is so different than what you represent. You are truly a special person.
JFri, I am the same way. I love cigars, but I do not inhale. I even have a cigar deck. It is on one of the highest areas of our yard and presents the greatest view of our lake. I don’t use the deck that often. It is in the shade and serves as a place to sit on the hot days of the year, when you need a breeze. But…it is indeed called the cigar deck.
tabbylynn if you are the last one standing then I am the last one sitting. One thing that has happened since I have become a person that posts at this site…I worry about many of you that are not as fortunate as I to be in a loving, stress free relationship. If thing are as tough as they sound for you tabbylynn, please continue to remain the special person that you are and do not let anyone else change who you are.
jfri my friends have croupted my mind then, bc they would have said something dirty about it… i thoguht you wold mess with me about it.
Cleo no need to worry im not changeing. i am to happy being a giving loving over caring person. i am almost done responding to my email then i will be on here a little more. brb
so i am back. i told you all earlyer that i would post what happened today, later when i was able to do so…. well here it is.
we had graduation practice today. well my dad, mom, step dad, step grand-paw, and brother all showed up for it. it went well i did not cry. :D yet. so on the way out my dad starts complaining about how he could not see me and that when the teachers did the little hug thing “no one could see a D*thing” and this and that. we get in the truck and he keeps it up. all the way to the store and then home. today and tomorrow were supposed to be the two days of my life I’m supposed to look back on and Cherish and be happy about. yet he ruines it like that. i told him and he says whatever and walked off. what am i going to do.
tabbylynn Keep these moments as the special times of your life. Do not let anyone interfere with those thoughts. Just remember and say to yourself “I am responsible for how today goes. No one else can change how good I feel.’
welcom back marg. i know, the they cant take it if i dont give it and im not going to give my mixed emotions on this away. you guys/gals are so much better then my discfunctial family….. 12:04am and 330 post wow.

Good morning everyone!! I didn’t wake up earlier like I wanted - in fact I overslept :-( I did manage to catch on last night’s comments. I don’t think I’ll be on any more today - though I should try and sneak on so I don’t get too far behind here.
Everyone have a great day!!

Wishing all a sunny & pleasant day!

yea doc we sure are! My turn to tell a joke: Wife from Pennsylvania Three men married wives from different states.
He said the first day he didn’t see anything, the second day, he didn’t see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher!

cleokaya over 15 years ago
The problem with my wife is that she is forever motivated. It’s great when it comes to exercise to keep her body as fit and mobile as she can with her injury, but when it comes to chores, she surges through them like a machine and tries to catch me up in her tornado of activity. I shy away from chores, if I can. So at times I try to blend into the woodwork to avoid the little whirling dervish. It doesn’t usually work.

Drystyha says:
“doc read your post at Bliss. My kids collected the transformers. And legos. Do you know how many thousands of pieces of legos I have. I don’t know what to do with them. I suppose someone could use their imagination and put them to good use without any instructions!”
I’m partial to these: http://www.andrewlipson.com/escher/waterfall.html and http://www.andrewlipson.com/escher/ascending.html
bmonk over 15 years ago

The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Yea, DF! but YOU are using a program to do that! I did mine all by my lonesome :-P)
The Duke 1 over 15 years ago
Digital Frog over 15 years ago
JFri what good is technology if you don’t use it? :()¦ . My brother and I used to have replica pirate pistols that fired those little plastic caps that were 5x louder than the paper caps. We got kicked out of part Virginia City for staging a mock gunfight.

LOL - at my last job, everyone thought I was this nice, friendly, clean cut guy, then I’d haul out these stories about making cannons, explosives, etc. and they never knew for sure how to take me. I used to joke that all I needed was to photoshop a fake certificate for 25yr membership in the Postal Service chapter of the NRA ;) . But don’t worry, I no longer own any firearms, I just like to shake up people’s conceptions of me sometimes.
Digital Frog over 15 years ago
Jfri Never used Bulleseye, but my friend and I used to shoot gophers with overloaded .222s. . My little brother was actually the one to watch out for. Our farm was across a creek from an 18hole golf course, and he was the worst hazard on the 4th hole. He was known on occasion to shoot the balls off the green with his .270 from a hill on our side of the creek.

AAAAARRRRRRRR, D F, me hearty! I be enjoyin’ the little ditty ye sent our way! And fer all ye varmints too lazy ta look it up, here ‘tis:
Well, I used to be a farmer and I made a living fine I had a little stretch of land along the C. P. line But times got tough, and though I tried, the money wasn’t there The bankers came and took my land and told me, ‘Fair is fair’ I looked for every kind of job, the answer always no ‘Hire you now?’ they’d always laugh, ‘We just let twenty go!’ (Ha ha!) The government, they promised me a measly little sum But I’ve got too much pride to end up just another bum Then I thought, who gives a bleeep if all the jobs are gone I’m gonna be a pirate on the river Saskatchewan! (Arr!)
{Refrain:} And it’s a heave (ho!) hi (ho!), coming down the plains Stealing wheat and barley and all the other grains And it’s a ho (hey!) hi (hey!), farmers bar yer doors When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores
Well, you’d think the local farmers would know that I’m at large But just the other day I found an unprotected barge I snuck up right behind them and they were none the wiser I rammed the ship and sank it and I stole the fertilizer Bridge outside of Moose Jaw spans a mighty river Farmers cross in so much fear, their stomach’s are a-quiver ‘Cause they know that Captain Tractor’s hiding in the bay I’ll jump the bridge, and knock ‘em cold, and sail off with their hay
{Refrain}
Well, Mountie Bob he chased me, he was always at my throat He’d follow on the shoreline ‘cause he didn’t own a boat But the cutbacks were a-comin’ and the Mountie lost his job So now he’s sailing with me and we call him Salty Bob A swingin’ sword, a skull-and-bones, and pleasant company I never pay my income tax and screw the GST (Screw it!) Prince Albert down to Saskatoon, the terror of the sea If you wanna reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me! (Arr!)
{Refrain}
Well, the pirate life’s appealing but you don’t just find it here I hear in north Alberta there’s a band of buccaneers They roam the Athabasca from Smith to Fort MacKay And you’re gonna lose your Stetson if you have to pass their way Well, winter is a-comin’ and a chill is in the breeze My pirate days are over once the river starts to freeze I’ll be back in springtime, but now I’ve got to go I hear there’s lots of plunderin’ down in New Mexico
{Refrain}
When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina’s mighty shores! (2x)

For the non-farmers and those who live far from the Canadian border, the C.P. One of the bobcats walked into a bar that had its door open, and the fool that bent down with his picture phone had to go get his rabies shots.

cleokaya over 15 years ago
Yep, Dry my moniker comes from two of the three dogs that I have had in my life. Kaya was a dog that passed away several years ago. I never thought that I could find a smarter more lovable dog. She could have been on TV, if she wasn’t so nervous around people. I could direct her by commands to go anywhere and get into anything. Cleo is my present dog, who is personality wise, totally different than Kaya. She is laid back and loves everyone, but she is also very smart. I never thought I could replace Kaya and I didn’t. Dogs are like people. They are all different and you love them for different reasons.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
cleo you are so right! Susie, when she died, Teddy & Gallagher didn’t eat for three days and went all over the house looking for her!
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Dry, I got my dog Kaya from PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society). She was so nervous when I first saw her in her kennel, that she tried to climb up the back and get as far away from me as she could. Something drew me to her. Once I decided I wanted to adopt her, I had to leave her there that weekend and pick her up after she had been spayed. When I went to pick her up that Monday, it was like she knew I would be her new family. She curled up on my lap and stayed there as I drove home. She bonded with me instantly and it was so odd, because she had been so scared on our previous encounter.

Sorry for the long post guys!

Cleo I’ll bring cigars! I’m not a smoker but I’ll puff on a cigar ocaisionally. NO inhaling!
tabbylynn over 15 years ago
Owlsly i can relate. i have not had to clean up after them but ive seen it and live with it every other weekend. my mom is a drinker and her and my step dad do and deal drugs and think i dont know. im not stupid. you both will just have to get help. there is nothing else you can do. get her help some how. if yuo have to drag her while she is passed out do so. some how get her help. she will hate you for it at first, but thank yuo later. tell her the mugging is not her fault tell her she will be okay. show her people who have moved on. gosh i wish i could help.

Doc i was wrong it is not CO (darn it) it is virgina i will be in…. he used to live there. (step brother)
cleokaya over 15 years ago
Owlsly, you need to talk to someone, and i mean someone beyond us. Stress is becoming a major part of your life. If your wife won’t join you, talk to someone on your own. You can not carry on this way. It is not good for you, it is not good for your relationship and it is going to just get worse. I hate being the bearer of negative news, but thing are not going to change unless you provoke change.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
tabbylynn you are such a source of good information. I am so sorry that you have a home life that is so different than what you represent. You are truly a special person.
tabbylynn over 15 years ago
alone at last.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
JFri, I am the same way. I love cigars, but I do not inhale. I even have a cigar deck. It is on one of the highest areas of our yard and presents the greatest view of our lake. I don’t use the deck that often. It is in the shade and serves as a place to sit on the hot days of the year, when you need a breeze. But…it is indeed called the cigar deck.

tabbylynn if you are the last one standing then I am the last one sitting. One thing that has happened since I have become a person that posts at this site…I worry about many of you that are not as fortunate as I to be in a loving, stress free relationship. If thing are as tough as they sound for you tabbylynn, please continue to remain the special person that you are and do not let anyone else change who you are.
tabbylynn over 15 years ago
jfri my friends have croupted my mind then, bc they would have said something dirty about it… i thoguht you wold mess with me about it.

:D yet. so on the way out my dad starts complaining about how he could not see me and that when the teachers did the little hug thing “no one could see a D*thing” and this and that. we get in the truck and he keeps it up. all the way to the store and then home. today and tomorrow were supposed to be the two days of my life I’m supposed to look back on and Cherish and be happy about. yet he ruines it like that. i told him and he says whatever and walked off. what am i going to do.
cleokaya over 15 years ago
tabbylynn Keep these moments as the special times of your life. Do not let anyone interfere with those thoughts. Just remember and say to yourself “I am responsible for how today goes. No one else can change how good I feel.’
