Hey you two. Get to bed. I couldn’t sleep tonight, and thought that surely I’d be first. I was going to cook breakfast too.

Mighty fine of you to serve us so early cleo. Don’t mind if I try some. No coffee though. I’m going to try to go back to sleep if I can.

Good Morning johnnydoc. Hope I don’t seem too grumpy. This late night talk isn’t the best time for me. Nice too see you both though.

Tabby: you getting hurt like that isn’t funny, that is unfortunate and I wish you a speedy recovery. Here is a hug to help (((Tabby)) :) If you want comedic injury listen to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2iUW7GGd8A Hope this works.

If it is swollen still tomorrow, you will want to see a doctor, because it sounds like a sprain, but if it isn’t it could just be twisted or strained. Now I’m going to bed. Good Night All.

shika a troll is someone who posts with the intent to cause trouble - more than someone who has a strong opinion on the topic at hand. I’ve been taught to not feed the trolls and they will go away since they only want attention.

Cleo/docT as for yesterday’s Adam comments. I usually read the comments before I see who said them. Only if the comment is interesting I will check out who said them. So I read Cleo’s comment first and thought that wasn’t nice to say, but when I looked at the person it all made sense. Since we chat more than comment here, I look at the names first.

I agree Joy, one of the things that bothers me about my children’s education, is their lack of ability to to ‘back of the envelope’ calculations or quick mental calculations while shopping etc. I was straight A honors math in high school, and a BSc in computer science, and I was having trouble figuring out what they were trying to teach with my daughter’s 8th grade math. I finally just went back to the questions and was able to show her far easier ways to do the calculations, rather than the weird approach they were forcing her to learn.

As for our school, we weren’t allowed calculators until 1/2-way through grade 9 and then only after you had proved sufficiently that you could do the calculations manually.

Hi Joy, did you get a little break from the rain? We did, but it’s starting up again now.

I don’t remember being allowed to use calculators in school. My mom was an accountant and she always had me help her “run tapes” on the calculator. I got very good at using it, but it never occurred to me to use it with my math homework. What has helped our girls was the “Hooked on Phonics” and the “Schoolhouse Rocks” videos.

Little Johnny… Finding Jesus A Sunday school teacher is concerned that his students might be a little confused about Jesus, so he asks his class, “Where is Jesus today?”

Steven raises his hand and says, “He’s in Heaven.”

Mary answers, “He’s in my heart.”

Little Johnny waves his hand furiously and blurts out, “He’s in our bathroom!”

The surprised teacher asks Little Johnny how he knows this.

“Well,” Little Johnny says, “every morning, my father gets up, bangs on the bathroom door and yells ‘Jesus Christ, are you still in there?!’”

For the new comers, I had a sleepless night until cleo, tabby, marge and jdoc made me happy again with their comraderie and food.

“A Kind Of Hush” is a great song.

    “In A Gadda Da Vida”.

I saw Iron Butterfly in Vancouver, BC in like 1970, or so. They played this great concert and ended the concert with “Butterfly Blue”. They left the stage having not played “I A Gadda Da Vida”, but it was a great show and everybody clapped and clapped waiting for an encore. They came back onstage and finished with “In A Gadda Da Vida” which lasted at least 30 minutes. I had been chatting up this young lady who was up near the stage next to me. When the house light came up I noticed that she had painted her teeth white. It was the wierdest thing that I have ever seen.

Tabby - Do you use Google as your Search Engine? I do and I also have a Google Tool Bar for easy searches without having to pull up the screen. On my Google Tool Bar is a spell checker that works while your comment box is active. I use it practically always. I don’t want people to know how poor my spelling really is. Problem is, if I use the wrong word but it’s spelled correctly, spell-checker is useless. Shame it doesn’t help with my grammar.

I used to type with only the first two fingers of both hands until I started messing in chat rooms in the mid 90’s. I began using all fingers but never developed a good method.

About three years ago I damaged the tip off my left pinky finger when I hit a car mirror. I removed my gloves and replaced the fingertip, iced and wrapped it and went to the hospital and received about 10 stitches. I did finally get most of my fingernail back and have only a fine scar but had some nerve damage so my typing is a bit awkward and slow now.

Hi tribe! I’ve been out & about all day, so didn’t have time to visit until now. I’ll be gone most of tomorrow too, so no search parties needed. TABBY - Even though I’ve noticed your spelling problems, since I’m not your boss or your teacher, I didn’t think I needed to say anything. But since you asked for our opinions… Many people have difficulty spelling or using a word that sounds the same, but has a different meaning. (Those words are called homonyms.) Since I homeschooled both of my sons from the beginning, I taught them to read. The oldest had difficulties in learning to read, so I know something about reading problems. For some people, reading & spelling come quite easily. (Myself and my youngest son fit in that category.) For other people, it is more difficult. (My husband & oldest son are in that group.) Understanding phonics helps greatly in spelling - it won’t prevent all mistakes, but by sounding out words, many mistakes can be caught. My husband was not taught phonics, and by the time we met, he had developed a hearing loss that keeps him from hearing the distinct sounds letters make. (Like the difference between the way a “B” and a “D” sounds.) So for him, he uses spell checker, which helps some, and asks for help. If he’s writing something where it is important to have everything spelled correctly, he has either myself or our youngest son proofread it first. Our oldest son is much better at spelling than his father, but not nearly as good as one of us to which it comes naturally. His spelling is something he has to work at, but since he was taught to read using phonics, he has the tools to help him. I think it is important to be aware that people often misjudge someone as less intelligent because of their poor spelling. Therefore, when submitting anything like a resume or school paper, it is wise to have someone with that skill review it before submitting it. I can tell you have a very caring heart, and that is much more important than being great at spelling. I hope that you will receive the medical care you need, and heal quickly!

    Hi Dry!

Rad - I had never noticed that you have two different sign-ons/avatars.

Shikamoo - my husband just says “driver side” or “passenger side” - even when he’s refering to a human body. :)

Cleo - if that person is intent on copying your avatar, you’ll probably need to do something to keep someone from right-clicking on it and saving it. I’m not sure if you can do this, since you’re not the webmaster for the whole site. The only other thing I can suggest is to pick one that the troll doesn’t want, which might take some doing to figure out.

RRAmom: By the time I think of “driver side” or “passenger side”, we’d be in the next town! Is he a lefty, by the way? I know a lefty whose watch runs backwards. When she showed it to me, I had no trouble telling the time, the the righties in the group couldn’t!

Dry - nobody has stolen it as far as I know, but I use what you see here, as my primary Avatar “Radical-Knight” (GENIUS) Eagle facing left, (paid) on MY pc. I use no other use names or gocomic identities there. When I’m roving amongst other pc’s I use as my roving Avatar “Radical_Knight” Eagle facing right (free).

It just lets me know when I was on MY pc or another pc. If I use several user-names on MY pc, it seems to not remember my primary account and I have to keep signing in. If I sign in at another pc with my primary, it sometimes won’t let me sign in with it on MY pc. This just keeps things less confusing and easier.

We finished dinner and I finished the dishes. I am awaiting my sweetie to watch a movie, so I have a few moments to catch up. I think that I am entering one of those dead zones where posting becomes more scarce until near the end of the day. I am hoping that this avatar is not copied. I don’ t even remember if my comment to the person was positive or negative. Well, if the person steals my avatar again, they can’t steal my moniker. If they figure out how, then…I’ll just have to shoot them. LOL

Look above and see the similarities. I see Avatars as who the person’s online personality. I recognize people first seeing their avatar. Changing avatars is OK, It’s like driving a different car or changing from business to casual clothes.

I use the same Avatar because it identifies me at a glance.

Shika - Here’s a way to tell left/right - hold your hands out face down in front of you. Extend your index and thumbs only. The index and thumb that form an “L” is your left . :()¦
