Good morning everyone. I just got home a few minutes ago and thought I would have to spend a long time as usual catching up on yesterdays posts as well as today. But I guess everyone is too partied out and not up yet.
JFri great to be first. Breakfast sounds wonderful May I have a little of everything? I would like some juice instead of coffee. I brought some fresh cold sliced fruit to help everybody get rid of the smokey taste from all the fireworks.
I don’t know who the horn was meant for but it woke me up. Hello Dry, Rad, Deborah, Cleo and anyone else around.
Doc I am not really a night stocker [or stalker]. I work the night shift at a convenience store and gas bar. My job is mostly servicing the customers, stocking the coolers, laundry, basic janitor work and making endless pots of coffee. [also messing up the computer tills regularily. But I don’t get paid for that]. Not too exciting maybe but it helps keep the bill collectors away. The night shift isn’t too bad as it gives me time to read when it is quiet.
Hope all the US folk had a great day yesterday, no alien invasions, etc. (guess what movie I fell asleep watching)
Akenta sign me up for the ice cream - we have an ice cream maker, but we don’t use it as often as we should. My Dad used to make the best orange-cherry ice cream, but he never wrote the recipe down and now he can’t remember what the proportions were. :(
Good Morning/Afternoon All!Dry, I slept till 11am also!
Doc, I did stay up really late. I was watching “Across the Universe” with one of my daughters. I usually fall asleep watching a movie, but I was enjoying hearing all the Beatles songs. I was quite young in the 60”s, but it still brought back lots of memories. I remembered that the hippies used to freak me out. My older siblings weren’t allowed to be hippies, they were totally square.
I think he’s been stiff since the Paris Hilton fiasco. Did I say that out loud?
Morning, all. Just stopped in to say HI. There was some loud noise a few hours ago & I wrote if off the fireworks. Turns out someone (ahem, RAD) found a horn!? Then I could smell some wonderful breadkfast (Thanks, JFri) but it was gone when I got here so I’ll just have some fruit (Thanks, Cleo).
DigiF - Let me know if you decide to test recipes for that ice cream & need a taster. Sounds yummy!
Akenta I’d love some ice cream since JFri’s breakfast seems to be gone. But I hope there’s coffee left!
Dry I guess early July was a good month for longevity since both our Dads were born then. Mine has major memory, sight and hearing problems but insists on staying in his own home. He tolerates a cleaning lady only once a week, but she really should be there daily. My sibs and I check on him daily, although I have to do it by phone, now, unless I am here in the Stampede city, which is often. Carmy, I will definitely give him that big kiss.
I was a year or two ahead of the hippie generaion in Canada but when we went to the BIg Sur on our honemoon, t was quite an eye opener. I had to tell my husband that the bikers we met ere not smoking normal cigarettes. And no, we would not share our supper with the girl in the long skirt (who made it clear nothing was under it) who offered us a can of corn. But we would let her sleep on our picnic table - NOT in our tent!!!
Hello to everyone else - Hope your Sunday is a great one and that you have recuperated from your fireworks and some of you, your firewater. Anyone seen Cleo?
Akenta - Help yourself to the fruit. I almost made homemade strawberry ice cream yesterday myself.
Dawn - I am around. Having kind of a lackluster morning. My wife fixed this large wonderful picnic for her family yesterday and they called and said they weren’t coming out to the lake after all, even though we had discussed dinner both the night before and yesterday morning. Needless to say she was not pleased.
Cleo, when things like that happen we take it very personally - even if it is not meant. My heart goes out to your wife. Give her an extra hug from me.
And thanks for the fruit! How did I miss your earlier posting?
And thanks for the coffee, DocT - I love the strange effects. You’ll see me for miles!
Good question, Carmy.Marg wherever you are, I hope your day is going well. And Tabby, I hope you are staying out of trouble.
Shika you should be back soon from church - have a great day.
Akenta, have you made that ice cream yet? It sounds delicious. I used to make it but when I realized how much cream was actually in it, I started thinking about my and my husband’s cholesterol levels At least that is my excuse. We do miss it though.
Ice cream hasn’t been made yet. I’ve put all the ingredients together and letting it chill in the fridge. Will put it in the ice maker in a couple of hours. I tried to not look at the ingredients in all of these. Mostly just sugar, but it does have heavy whipping cream. The milk and vanilla are fat free. I think the eggs are ok, they are the cholesterol free kind, but forgot to look at fat content. Haven’t figured out the costs so see if it’s cheaper to buy it ready made, but this is more fun to make and share.
I got good reviews last time I used these ingredients, so it should be a hit again.
Hi Tribe,
I’m back from two different church services and haven’t had lunch- it’s after 3:00p.m. So I’m eating now and having a nap.
I’ll reply to everyone later. Actually, I radied JFri refridgerator for lunch, and I’ve had coffee twice, so I’ll just nap now, and come back for Akenta’s icecream and whatever.
TOOT!
Dry, You really should be careful where you leave your horns! I just can’t resist!
Akenta when your ice cream is ready, may I have a large bowl of it? Unfortunatly I never have been able to resist ice cream.
Cleo it is too bad that your relatives did not come for the picnic. Especially after your wife made all that food. I hope they had a good and valid reason.
Well, I think I’ve had enough for awhile. I’m going for a nap, but since I don’t have to work tonight, I’ll probably stop in again before everyone leaves.
Hi all!!! im home and on for a few… till Ana wakes up little thing is so wiped out. she had a bad day today. Got wiped (by me.:( ) in church two times once in the bathroom and once on the way back form childrens church she was just being bad. the things called “terrible two’s” better get going soon. she will be 3 in october and im tired of the badness. but othere then that good day so far. its only 3 here.
Dawn im staying out of trouble…. as far as i know.
RAD welcome back buddy i missed you!!!
akenta dont forget to send me some icecream i want some so bad.
Akenta even if it costs more, the homemade is far superior to most store-bought stuff. I have an ice cream cookbook I can recommend - “Ice Cream Delights” (ISBN 1-56173-976-6) - a lot of its recipes are made with condensed milk and half-n-half which reduces or removes the use of heavy cream and many don’t call for any eggs at all, or only whites for those that are more fat/cholesterol concsious.
The ice cream is ready, so everyone help yourself. I just look for recipes online when it’s time to make. Since I’m not really making it for myself (I don’t really care for vanilla), I’m not too careful about the calories and fat. I’ve got chocolate syrup, butterscotch, and strawberry syrup to put on top of it.
Good evening guys, I’ve been busy lately and not had the oportunities to sit online as I once did. Drtoon, Drystyha, Senasakitty, Akenta, Dcguys and my buddy TabbyLynn … thanks for the howdy this morning. I do drop in occasionally to glimpse what’s happening but not long enough to comment. JFri, Carmy, Cleokaya, Risitas, Shikamoo, Dawn Avril and all the others who are now regulars, I want to say howdy to everyone, even the new names I see. Gotta go again, but will try to at least put in a marker when I peek in.
I wonder if the cats were aware THEY existed! I think comic books were 10 cents when I was a kid! Used to go to the neighborhood store (another lost icon) on Saturday mornings with my friend and read the new comioc books. The owner never minded us sitting there reading them either!.
Hi Doc Jfri and Dry- Still around?
I’m sorry to be so scarce. I can’t stay now either. I have a big appointment in the morning that I am nervous about, so I need to sleep well. Or sleep anyways. I had a two hour nap, and then a two and a half hour walk. I got home at 9:00p.m.
doc, I only ever had one cat who was free range, she was wild when she came to me, 2 years after my beloved dogs passed. I never sought another animal, I said if God wanted me to have another pet, it would come to me. She kept hanging around my place and I kept feeding her and petting her. Lo and behold she gave birth to her kitties on my back porch. We kept her and 2 of her kitties. That was my first introduction to having cats. My sons and mom saw them being born. Since she was used to being out she came and went as she pleased, but she always sat at the end of our driveway and looked for cars before she crossed the road. Most amazing thing i ever saw!
cleo, “all your parents”! By my account, you should be our parent! Aren’t you older than us? Well maybe me, doc and JFri’s older brother!
You been in the pirate’s rum again? Fess up, buddy! If so, why aren’t you sharing! Huh!
I have always had dogs, but cats have always been attracted to me. I remember visiting some friends who had cats. I ended up with a cat sitting on each shoulder, one on my lap and two on each knee.
My closest relatives all have either just several cats, or several cats and several dogs.
doctortooon - I am the same way. I am just interested in animals and I like how open and aware they are. I always devote some time to getting to know the pets where I visit.
Thanks Doc. Today was a bit rough too, running all day on three coffees, an egg, a strawberry and a cookie until 3:00p.m. after I ate, I was surprised I could sleep (coffee keeps me awake), but then when I woke up, I wanted to walk, and all that kept me from walking further was the fact that the sun was about to set, and I don’t like to be out after dark. Luckily I had some money to buy a healthy supper of an iccream Orea cookie and a bag of Frito Lay chips before coming home.
The second church I went to may be a placement for me next semester. Yikes!
Well, I’m having a quick snack of rice’n peas, W.I. style and then off to bed. I still feel buzzed. Remind me not to make coffee a substitute for food again.
Dry - You are only as old as you feel and most of the time I feel like a 30 year old. I never think about age. I have to take my birth year and subtract it from the current year all the time. Only on my decade markers do I remember my age.
You got that right, cleo.* Mua’s Bored, Bored, Bored! He *keeps telling me to get off the computer. Munch, chew, chew. Okay Mua, almost finished eating and chatting. Don’t get your shirt in a knot.
What? That’s not your shirt? Ouch! that must hurt. LOL
Dry - I never minded being an only child. I have a rich imagination in which like Calvin & Darin I had imaginary friends that were animals. I had two bears that were my friends. They weren’t as grumpy as Clovis, but were more like bear versions of Hobbes. I also had two girl cousins that I spent every summer with on my Grandpa’s farm in Alberta.
cleo I had lots of pretend friends too. No one got my humour even then. But my stuffed animals understood me. I still have a big basket in my living room with my stuffed furry friends. The basket makes it easy to whisk out of sight when company comes.
carmy, Hey another birthday celebrated! 96 is pushing it! I’m , grateful that he still has his mind, knows what’s going on in the world and is in good health for his age. He’s sharp in mind but not as quick on his feet! I always worry he will fall! But he’s stubborn and no way can I make him leave his home! Actually he doesn’t need to if he can remember his limits!

doctortoon - And more honest. You always know what mood they are in.

cleo, just picked up on that post. So you are an only too? I don’t know how you liked it, but for the most part, it sucked for me!

LOL

cleo, so funny! That’s what I do too when I need to remember how old I am too. My husband and daughters always know how old I am though.
Hi Everyone!

Bye, DOC! have a good night, bring me back some old fashioned vanilla ice cream.
Shikamoo Premium Member over 15 years ago
@ Doc- My sister paid me a quarter to leave her alone with her boyfriend while she babysat me. I hid in the closet.
What does that make me?
Don’t answer.!

Hello Carmy and goodbye doctortoon. We are all kids at heart or we wouldn’t be nesting here at Big Top.
I am off to watch a movie. I hope to get back later. Chat on.

Hi Dry- You’re a pretty good kid at heart! We all are I think. I can let loose here and be myself instead of on my best behavior.
BTW My best behavior involves a lot of bad puns and jokes, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.
But you could!

Carmy, Dry and cleo- I must say good night, alas.
cleo I had lots of pretend friends too. No one got my humour even then. But my stuffed animals understood me. I still have a big basket in my living room with my stuffed furry friends. The basket makes it easy to whisk out of sight when company comes.

carmy- You like old fashioned Ice ceam too? I’m not an ice ceam person, but sometimes I indulge.
GOOD NIGHT DRY, CARMY, CLEO AND THE REST OF THE TRIBE. YOU TOO DOC. I didn’t see you leave!
Peace and Love.

carmy, Hey another birthday celebrated!
