For the party, I’ve got ice cream. The standard vanilla that people seem to like, an experiment with some Grand Marnier flavor (if you like it might try it for real), and of course it wouldn’t be a party for DocT without some coffee flavored ice cream, made with his special nuclear blend.

Thanks cleo! Thanks guys for getting the party started! Tabby, good thinking! I didn’t thiink of the balloons,etc. Akenta, I’m sure doc will eat all the coffee ice cream! Did you make enough for seconds? Doc We have the park for the whole day, so people feel free to come and go as you please. We have a menu planned that should please everyone, and if someone wants to add something, feel free! With this crowd, food never goes to waste!

SO we have JFri and cleo manning the grills with flat iron steak, Alaskan Salmon, fried chicken, hamburgers, and knockwurst and sauerkraut. We have veggie kabobs, fresh corn on the cob, slow cooked baked beans, potato salad, pepper slaw, fresh squeezed lemonade, fresh watermelon, strawberry shortcake, and devils food cake (the birthday cake), Ice Cold beer on tap, I guess that about covers it. The volleyball net should be set up by now, unless someone got tangled in the rope! (I won’t mention anyone’s name, JFri.) We may need some more super soakers though! Marg and carmy, how many were you able to round up? johnny, do you have a good sound system you can set up so we have some good tunes playing throughout the day? And the pirate and Joy will be bringing the rum, for sure! So we’ll see the rest of you at some point!

When I was a kid we went fishing. The men went upstream, for a change and the women and children, down. We walked into an area that had a playground with a child on a swing and my sister ran to play with him. A woman walked toward us. My mom took one look, called my sister and we walked quickly away. Soon after she told us that as soon as she saw the woman, she knew we had walked into a nudist camp. My married cousin turned to her and with a straight face asked;”How could you tell, she wasn’t wearing any clothes?”

Tammy, I’ve been thinking about what happened between you and your Dad the night before last. And thought about some possible reasons for it. Some people, who have been badly hurt try not to get too close to anyone else, so they treat them badly. They don’t want to, but it is a form of self-protection. Parents are no different. Other parents want their children to be better than they themselves are so they nag them . But I think that what is happening to your Dad is what happened every time my aunt visited my grandmother. When it came close to the time she was to go home, she would act miserably. Everyone was relieved when she finally left. I think that perhaps your Dad realizes that you have grown up and are going to leave him and he doesn’t like that thought. To make himself feel better about it, he is making life miserable for both of you. That way it will be a relief when you leave. None of this justifies or excuses his comments or actions but perhaps the possible explanations will make you feel better about it. Rmom gave you very good advice.

Dry - It is tough to avoid good food.

We have anymore of those great veggie kabobs you made from your local famer’s market purchase, cleo?

There is more of everything. I just didn’t bring enough oysters the first time around. Help yourself Dry. Me, I am going to pour myself a little cocktail. All this grillwork works up a thirst.

We do have a wonderful farmer’s market. Last Saturday was the best day yet this year. A regular bounty of fruits and veggies, as well as a myriad of fantastic local cheeses and seafood. Plus we have lots of art booths. We also have a smaller farmer’s market on Wednesdays.

OK, ladies, I have grilled the mussels with bbq sauce, Tillamook cheddar cheese & shallots. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Mussells with BBQ sauce, *NO MAN MAKE MINE OVER!! *Garlic, butter sauce and lemon!!!!! I have gum in case anyone is worried about the garlic smell!!

Beer is for drinking, vents are for controlling the fire. I am more concerned about keeping you under fire. It’s worse than I thought ladies. He now thinks his rum and coke is a beer. Get this man a hammock. LOL

Dry - I will joing you with garlic and lemon.

cleo our farmers markets are Tues, Fri, Thurs and Sat, in 2 different locations, with 2 different groups of farmers. I rarely get to the one in town, just the one close to here, but good stufff, and I’m sure not as big as yours! Plus I have my own things grown here at home!

JFri - Your bbq mussels sound good, but I want to taste the mussels.

Dry - My wife decided to plant veggies in every spot where she had annuals last year. We have incorporated kale into our perennial bed and the foliage of the kale looks so good with the plants around it.

I love to taste local BBQ down south on my travels. It varies so much depending on what part of the country you are in, but I love it all, if it is cooked correctly.

I love kale, cleo, but never planted it. I should! I love to try different BBQ sauces, too, but I especially love the HOT ones!

That reminds me JFri and Cleo , I saw an interesting mustard at the store on Friday Sweet Hot mustard made by inglehoffer. I bought a jar and then saw where it was made, Beaverton, OR. Haven’t opened it yet, is it any good?

cleo, good! I plan on opening it tmr, with a lunch meat sandwich on flax and whole grain bread for my lunch.

I have ham, olive loaf, hard salami, pastrami, and cheese. I know, not good for me, but I don’t do it that often!!

Dry - I am not sure how much you are into food and chefs, so I don’t know if you have heard of Mario Batali or not, but he had or has a show on the food network and has several restaurants in New York. His dad lives in Seattle and when he quit work at Boeing, he went to Italy, like his son, to learn from the Italians, how to make sausages or salumi. He is the best. His dad has a little tiny restaurant in Pioneer Square in Seattle, behind the restaurant is a sausage making facility where he makes and cures the best sausages. Fortunately, we have a little deli in town that gets some of his cured meats. So I love splurging on his salamis and other stuff. Great for sandwiches and pasta dishes, etc.

cleo, I rarely have control of the TV, I only insist on my certain shows and some things on FOX news. I do like the Food Netwrk but don’t get a chance to watch it much. And yes, I have heard of Mario. Seattle, I suspect, is a nice city, is it not? Another item for my Bucket List!! LOL!

Dry - Seattle is a nice city, lots of good restaurants and Pike Place Market is very, very special. As a whole though, I prefer Vancouver, BC, which is actually closer to me. I have lived in both cities and Vancouver is so beautiful. Seattle, in it’s early days, leveled the city taking out many hills and flattening out areas. The one big negative for Vancouver, is a lack of freeways, so congestion can get really bad. But I love their parks, restaurants and just the way the city is situated on the water. And, Stanley Park, in Vancouver, has got to be one of the best city parks in the world.

cleo, I think I told you this before, but Vancouver is on my bucket list as well, above Seattle!

I would love to take a train ride all the way across Canada! I loved Canada, the 6 times I was there, I was always somewhere in Ontario, and one quick trip thru Quebec!

Dry - The furthest that I have traveled by train across Canada is from Vancouver to Winnipeg. I too would love to travel across Canada by train. I have driven across and loved the trip. I stay off the freeways as much as possible when I travel, because you don’t really see a place if you stay on major highways. Canada is a beautiful country. Ontario is huge. I really like Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Akenta - Was the ice cream made from doctortoon’s coffee. If it left holes, it must have been.

Dry, you will have to go west in Canada, although the trip across the prairies can be a little long, if you are lucky enough to go through in spring when the fields are green and yellow or if there is a lightening storm, it too can be spectacular. The mountains, of course - especially between Banff and Jasper - are fantastic!

Akenta, if it’s your table that you brought to the party, the pirate will replace it!!

doctortoon is probably, at this moment, sitting with his harem, with one waving a fan to cool him off, another feeding him grapes and we will stop there so as not to offend innocent minds.

Dawn, that’s what I’ve heard about Banff and Jasper! My cousin and her husband did that trip with a group of friends and loved it!

cleo I think my Uncle lived in Smith Falls for one of his first parishes- but I can’t swear to it. There definately are many beautiful spots to see in our fair country. I don’t travel near as much as I would like to.

JFri - I hope you didn’t get offended because we wanted you to fix the mussels differently. I am sure your preparation was superb. I am a minimalist, so I like very little adornment on my seafood. Now gosh dang it, come and get your rum & coke before it becomes all diluted.

I had to show him how to use a jeweller’s loupe for the movie. apparently he had to pick up a diamond and verify that it was real in the script. He was afraid of dropping it, so I showed him how.

I can understand just why Wink is scared! I wouldn’t want to be in a cage with her either.

By the way, several years ago we rode from coast to coast and back to coast on our motorcycle. Probably the trip of my lifetime. I loved every bit of it - from the fox in Saskatchewan to the Halifax harbour and the bridge to Prince Edward Island. . We only had three half days of rain (Near Thunderbay in northern Ontario.) I really recommend it.

Many years ago, we camped in our van all around the States - from Maine to NYC to Florida and across to Texas and the desert to San Diego and up through Oregon and Washington - hitting the Dakotas, Yellowstone, the canyons and Wyoming and most of the rest of the States on the way. Another wonderful trip that I will always remember.

shiks turns out you cant go to collagee if you dont have some shot to prevent some kind of thing… you move out on your own and in new suroundings with new people from everywhere and you get things that could kill you so they gave me a shot and it hurt… then i fliped my mattress after my shot and its in the muscell so it hurts when i lift on things type and such.

tabby-When carmy’s dishwasher is finished- just pop yours in. She won’t mind. (Her daughters though, you may have to do some explaining…)

Looks pretty clean to me - a few holes in the table from the nuclear coffee ice cream but other than that and some of the remains of the pinatas, there’s not much clean up to do. Don’t know what Hymenoxis will do but I’m sure he’ll find something.

I think I saw a couple of Hef’s girls slink away before the flood. Jfri was following them.
