Good morning and Happy Tuesday!!! Wow what a party yesterday. I could barely make it up this morning. There is still some left over coffee ice cream until docT shows up to make the real stuff.
Some replies from yesterday. I think we have one more bday this month - I’ve got RRAMom listed as the 21st.
cleo we never hired hymenoxis - he’s our friend with a cleaning fetish
Akenta - you’ve got the date correct. It will be the big 50 for me!
But y’all got to keep the party a little less wild, if you want me to join in. My filter blocked me out of page 1 & 2 from yesterday’s. (Well, page 1 sometime after I posted on it.)
I won’t be at home much on my b-day, but I’ll catch up on what was said, as long as it doesn’t upset my filter.
Sorry I missed out on the party yesterday. So better late than never, happy birthday, Doctortoon. This may be a little odd for breakfast, but care for some steak and eggs?
I did a little browsing online and found out some funny stuff about gmartin997. Of all the nonsense this goober spouts, he seems to have all the answers but is totally clueless about any questions. What a total nOOb. A little dog barking at the end of a short leash. Big Threat. Oooooo, scary.
Does anyone else know of a Big Top chatroom? I never heard of a Big Top chatroom. This isn’t a Chatroom it’s a cartoon site allowing comments where we have developed a community. Bob Harrell or Uclick are the only entities who can close this site.
Mornin’ everyone. That wast quite the party last night but Carmy cleaned it up well with Shika’s help. Trust the guys to be scarce when the work was done! I know -blame RL. EVen Hymenoxis didn’t help ;-(
Terry/Lonewolf where are you? I hope you aren’t sick again. You were feeling better, I thought. Mind you - wise to stay out of the water fight. Hope those hussies from Hef got home safely (and stay there!)
doc, that’s the general problem with trolls. They don’t make friends easily, so when they need attention, any notice, even bad notice, is better than none. Since they never learned that being nice and constructive is fun and gets you good attention, they stick with being obstreperous and destructive.
Beyond that, many seem to find the thought of anyone else having fun to be abhorrent.
Good afternoon everyone!
I see we have some new friends here today, or at least friends I haven’t seen in a while. Welcome or welcome back!
Hope the party ended well last night, and sorry I couldn’t be here last night!
hi* johnny, all went well, everyone had plenty of food and fun. Of course, we found JFri* asleep under one of the picnic tables, and we had to go rescue Cleo from Hef’s girls, but other than that, no problems. Oh that’s right, carmy went nuts for awhile beating up pinatas!!
@Dry, did you rescue Cleo from the girls, or vice versa? (Or was it a mutual rescue?)
Sir Lancelot: “We were in the nick of time. You were in great peril.”
Sir Galahad: “I don’t think I was.”
Sir Lancelot: “Yes, you were. You were in terrible peril.”
Sir Galahad: “Look, let me go back in there and face the peril.”
Sir Lancelot: “No, it’s too perilous.”
Sir Galahad: “Look, it’s my duty as a knight to sample as much peril as I can.”
Sir Lancelot: “No, we’ve got to find the Holy Grail. Come on.”
Sir Galahad: “Oh, let me have just a little bit of peril?”
doc, your vacation is screwing up everything! Up at 4 PM WOW!! I guess I’ll put my horns away for the rest of the week!! You haven’t missed much! Everybody’s still tuckered out from yesterdays party!
My word, doc, how can you survive on that little bit of sleep?
If I get less than 7, I can feel it, sometimes I can survive on 6, but it catches up with me! And you know how I feel about sleeping during the day for myself, unless I’m sick.
Whatever works! :-D
hi Doc, Dry, Carmy, Marg, cleo, jfri, akenta, Hy, and all else
im home! i had a great day today i was gone all day and the most work i did was hold clothes and change a babies wet bottome… it was fun and a great day. now lets see if we can keep it that way when my dad and bro get home.
how are well all doing? (one day someone will answere that question)
I’m up too, for some reason I missed my alarm and slept WAY too long. I had a weird dream. It had everything, action adventure violence excitement romance, and a weird sort of car chase. It could have been a movie. LOL.
tabby, we are fine! There you go, the mystery question has been answered and you win $30,000. Care for another questiion and a chance to win another $ 20,000.00 LOL
so who wants to come cook supper for me? i dont feel like it… i think i cook good and all, but no matter what, i always get this…” did you put salt?” “theres to much salt” “it tougf” ” i dont like it” or something along the lines of that… no matter what.. so see why i dont want to cook
i would love to record some of my dreams bc they are great, then others are madness, and some are questionable… but i would like to watch the great ones and share them with the people in them… wow did i just say that out loud? blushes
Wow, Tabby! I have never even thought of criticizing a meal I didn’t make unless first thanking the person who made it, and then promising to try and make it myself or something else the next day. I would be glad to do some cooking for you, but I don’t feel very adequate in the midst of some very fine culinary experts we have here, I could try, though. Do you like macaroni and cheese?
My dream could be big top material, but I know why most of the topics of the dream were in there, even if they were a little bit outdated. I was saying that the dream wasn’t confusing enough for Big Top!
I don’t like tomatoes, but I do like to mix in some venison to make a sort of hamburger helper. Maybe I could try that with jalapenos, that sounds interesting.
doc, yea I know about your relationship with your kitchen appliances, LOL! But just buy some of the pre-cooked chicken, like Perdue or Tyson that’s in those 6 or 8 oz packs, a jar of chicken grayy and heat it in your microwave and pour over your warm waffles!! Or the Carl Buddig creamed beef and do the same.
No not yet, I don’t, my dad caught the one last winter, and it lasted the until early summer. Next month, I am taking hunter safety, so hopefully, by next deer season, I might have bagged one.
I do like spaghetti sauce, and I will eat tomatoes in certain dishes, but I don’t like them on their own. It is weird, because I will eat just about anything else.
Not sure what I dreamt of last night. I know when I woke up this group was on my mind, but couldn’t remember any details as to why. I used to be real good at remember by dreams, but not as much lately :-(
tabby - When my husband & I were first married (or maybe while we were still engaged - don’t remember for sure), I would ask him what he wanted for supper, and I couldn’t get a request from him. Usually he said, “I don’t know.” I got tired of it, because the hardest part of cooking for me is deciding what to cook. So one time after he gave me the usual response, I made the strangest concoction I could dream up. We’re both rather picky, so I made sure they were ingredients neither one of us hated, just that they didn’t normally go together. When I served it to him, he asked me, “What IS this?” And I truthfully answered, “I don’t know!” He’s been very careful to not use THAT reply again.
doc, WE KNOW!! Don’t you get tired of the same thing EVERY day? You sound like my dad, he eats it until it’s gone! Sometimes he’ll mix everything together! ”It’s all going to the same place anyway!”
@Dry, when my granpa (and now my dad) were all alone as widowers, they had a rule: “you can come and visit, and bring whatever food you want, or cook what I have on hand. But when you go, it goes with you–unless I agree to take a portion that I will dish out.”
After all, they don’t want to waste food, and that dish of leftovers might, for just the one of them, be a week of dinners. They’d eat it. They would get mighty tired of it, but they’d finish it off.
Cooking is a very big deal for my wife and I. Big deal in the sense that we both enjoy food and have great meals every night, whether she or I cook. We both enjoy the same foods, as I have mentioned before, so we visit food throughout the week that could be Italian, Asian, Pacific NW, Mexican, BBQ. You name it. We do not eat prepackaged meals.
Who’s gonna knock Tabby’s teeth out? I got 2 machetes and I’m not afraid to use them!!
Dry and Tabby, of course you all can have some chicken. Here it comes…
My family knows better than to let me make whatever I want for dinner. They write “dinner ideas” on the board in the kitchen. Since my girls are learning how to cook, we try to keep our meals very simple.
doctortoon - When I got a divorce from my first wife I decided that I was never going to spend any effort on dating someone who I did not think was a person that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. Earlier in my life I would go out with women with only one thing in mind, and that was fine for my youth, but after being married for 13 years, I was not interested in one night stands or dating somebody strictly for companionship, as I was perfectly happy to be alone. I went 6 years, dating, but not finding anyone who seemed perfect to me, until I met my current wife. So, it payed off to just wait, hold out, even with the thought that it might be for the rest of my life, until I found the soulmate that I did find in my wife.
doc, I have the perfect breakfast for you!! I learned to eat this when I spent the weekends at my great aunt’s house . Mail order bride from Italy, came off at Eliis Island. What a DEAR lady she was! Anyway, she always fed us toast with peanut butter and we dipped it in coffee. Of course your coffee would probably melt the toast into crumbs!!! LOL
@cleo, I’ve used a similar line with teens. I don’t know if it penetrated, but at least they heard it:
If dating is to find someone to spend your life with, why stay with a loser, someone you know isn’t right? You can live by yourself, at least temporarily. And maybe come out more sure of yourself for the experience.
bmonk– I could not be happier with my decision. It took me a long time to achieve the wisdom to make that decision, but I did not want another failed relationship. I love my ex wife. We remained close friends, but when I married her, even though it lasted 13 years, I had some doubts when I married her and I was not the one that sought out the divorce. I did not want a repeat of the eventual outcome. It hurts to much to break up, even if it is for the best. I had invested many years into that marriage and I did not want it to be years wasted. That is why we remained friends, to save something from all those years.
I was just looking at all the avatars from the last few posters and aside from Dry & carmy we have a lot of grays and tans going on. It’s time for some color. I will have to search for a more colorful avatar.
And that bmonk is why I am not too concerned about dating. I have plenty of time to deal with that, in the meantime I will focus on school, religion, friends and family. (not necessarily in that order.) See you later!
I think it is great how we have all discovered each other. Age isn’t a barrier, nor are ideals. We talk about things that are usually not challenging. So even if we are vastly different, those issue don’t interfere with our basic makeup. In reality, we may be to different to be good friends, but here it works very well.
Alright, I go get my bath quick and I come back and two avatars are changed! I recognize yours carmy, but can’t remember it. (BB brain)
and Cleo, You wish!! We all know you don’t look like that in RL!! LOL my friend!!
cleo, you are so right, it does work very well here indeed.
Dry, I’ve got that “if I knew then what I know now” feeling. I don’t think Tabby or Johnny will be having a problem with that though.
I changed my avatar. That there is Heffer. He’s a cow from an old Nick-toon called Rocko’s Modern Life. Rocko is a wallaby and Heffer is his best buddy. Heffer is a cow, but he was adopted by a wolf family. Rocko and Heffer like to eat at the Chokey Chicken restaurant.
Dry - I’ve been thinking of you lately. My dryer broke today, so I’ve got some clothes hanging outside trying to get them dry before the t-storm rolls through. I didn’t have a clothesline, so had to rig up something, and it is only about 6’ long, which means I couldn’t hang out the whole load at once. The weather has been good for drying clothes - 106F and a decent breeze. However, there is a storm headed this way, so I’ll need to get them off before they get wet again.
You’re right Dry*, it’s my bedtime - was supposed to turn off computer 15 minutes ago. Paid for staying up late last night and really need to try and get up earlier tomorrow morning.
johnny, nothing! but we look like lurkers! LOL I do it all the time! I’ll pop in when I’m getting ready for bed just to see if I missed anything! Sometimes when I can’t sleep I think I should get on big top and see what’s going on, but I don’t. Don’t want to become too addicted, because I can quit anytime! :-D
johnny, we got a new catch phrase here, in case you haven’t seen it. We call it “pulling a Shika.” Shika will often say that she’s going to bed and then she will come back several times before she does actually go to bed.
Most of the time I read the posts, make a comment if I think of something, and then go do something else for a few minutes or longer. Then I’ll come back, refresh, and see what’s been written lately.
Sorry I’m so late- I had a lot to do today. The story of my life now- that’s what I get for snoozing and cruising all through May and June. But I had fun!
Dry - It was 108F today in Wichita (didn’t check for my little town, but probably close). I didn’t take my thermometer out, but it was hot & humid still after 5pm, when I was outside. If the humidity wasn’t so high, I’m sure the clothes would have dried much quicker. (I’ve still got a pair of shorts out there.) But we’ve had enough rain, and with more on the way, it isn’t a “dry heat” this summer!
I remember in the summer of 1980, there was a major heat wave. I was living in OKC at the time, but KS also experienced it. It didn’t get below 100F - even at night - for about two weeks! Top it off, I didn’t have so much as a window a/c in my duplex. Thankfully, I worked noon to 9pm each day, so except for my days off, I was in a/c during the worse part of the day. Had to call my mom and ask how they survived in the depression without a/c. (They didn’t even have electricity in their home!) She gave me a few tips, but it was a miserable time. I’ve lived a couple of summers in KS since then without a/c, and it is a rare summer to not go over 100F. Lots of cool showers & box fans are how I survived.
AWW THANKS CARMY AND JDOC AND DRY AND BMONK AND ALL
you are all so sweet! i feel the love here and i am glad to know you all even if its just on here. it means a lot to have you all as a family..
Carmy you read it right… if i was to give my dad some smart mouth remarke like that he would give me a nice slap on the mouth and it wouldnt be pretty.
i dont think i will have one of thoes moments till a long time form now… i know a lot of things that most of the people my age dont know at all. its scary how they will fall apart when they go off to school and ill be prepared as well as jdoc….
thanks for all the kind words. here’s a hug for all
cleo Who is that cheeky fellow in your avatar? If it is you, I’d cover up, or your wife will be building a thorny rose bower all around you to keep the gals out. LOL
I wonder if this posts on page 3 or page 4? I just posted something on page 4, refreshed, and BOOM - my filter is blocking me from page 4 now. I’ll check in later to see if you’ve made it to page 5.
Okay johnny and tabby- Hope I didn’t embarass you two, but i came in at the top of page four, and was confused. Of course, I confuse easily! I get confused easily too! LOL
Amongst other stressful things in my life- this Friday is a biggie! May I just ask those who feel comfortable with the prayer thing to remember to pray for me that day?
I’ll be in a hearing all day long, and I’m really nervous about it. It will be extremely stressful to say the least, and the least is all I can tell you. Probably too much. But you are like family to me- better even than family some days, so I wanted to let you know.
Now that I see we’re on page 5, did anyone make a post after mine about the cool showers on page 4? I’m starting to wonder if I said something that time it didn’t like. LOL!
Shika, truly, it can be a confusing predicament to enter in the middle of a conversation. You aren’t quite sure what is going on, but you nod and smile and try to interject where you can, hoping that what you say is either funny or relevant to the conversation. Hey, who said talking is easy?
RRAmom, Actually, along with Joy, me, and JFri, ,tabby became the next member, then it went on to johnny, carmy ,commic addict, Akenta , doc, marg and cleo and that was the Original Tribe.
johnny- Are you saying I shouldn’t but in? LOL! I suppose that on line one should read the preseeding posts before jumping to confusions- conclusions, I mean, lol
Wow! You guys were busy! I thought maybe my comment about it being hot, and having to take cool showers was interpreted wrong by my filter. Oh, well. Just know I missed out on that part of the conversation.
carmy - I’m surprised, too! I think it keys off of certain words that usually accompany those types of pictures. Either cleo’s picture is something he uploaded, or it is from an approved website. Classical art (such as Michelangelo) is okay, even if there is nudity.
carmy!! Before I forget, I’ve been meaning to tell you that my dentist was *John Candy’s * dentist when he was in town. He was also the Blue Jay’s dentist at one time, but John Canday is the one I remember.
RRAmom- I loved what you did for your husband. I should say, what you did *to* your husband. I’d love to do something like that. My friend Julie would have done that too.
I guess I ought to head off to bed soon. I won’t pull a “Shika” because once I get my contacts out, I have to get between the keyboard & the screen to read anything, and that makes it a little tough! The storm hasn’t quite reached me yet, but they’re saying that even though it was classified as severe, it barely was. A few 60 mph winds brought it into that category, but no tornadoes, hail or rotating clouds. And I think it is weakening, because it has crossed into my county, but all the severe t-storm warnings have ended.
Good night tribe!
Yeah carmy! I wish I could have been there when he was there. But I think he asked Phil to close the office or see him after hours when he was there. Can you imagine? I’d swoon. I wouldn’t need laughing gas either! lol
Doc Microwve meals are life-savers! Your special lady will be happy just to be with you.
Okay, I’m getting sapy now. Must be from having taut nerves all week.
BTW johnny, I’m glad you didn’t telll me I was butting in. I have read the posts now, and i see that yuo and tabby are very wise indeed. i myslef figure that if I haven’t married by now, I can wait until I’m finished my career change to think about meeting someone.
Yes, I did like John Candy. he had a lot of funny movies. Planes, Trains and Automobiles is one of my favorites.
Those aren’t pillows!
LOLS, that reminded me of cleo’s buns of steel.
Carmy, Planes Trains and Automobiles! LOVED IT again and again and AGAIN!! And the “Great Outdoors” ” Bear, big bear, big bear!!!” LOL! And Summer Rental, and Cool Runnings, and Uncle Buck! Gawd I loved that man!! One of, if not
Carmy you took the words right out of my mouth. i was going to aks Doc if the house was still standing after he COOKED on the stove. lol
back from my walk about 51 mins ago now. and my bro was on. but im home and safe and blushing. lol tell yuo all later on when i know for sure what is going on. lol
Dry, I’ve seen all of those movies too. Even the movies where he had small parts like Vacation and Home Alone, he was really good.
Tabby, I’m glad you are home safe from your walk. Now, I’m very curious about the “blushing.”
Unfortunately, I have to go wash the dishes real quick. Daughter #1 was supposed to wash them, but she fell asleep early. I have to wash them because I can not stand to see a dirty kitchen in the morning. sigh…BBL
Doc someone up there is watching over you all. lol poor thing you being teesed like this. same on us. we should have a party to celebrate that you cooked and they are all still alive.
Woo Hoo, I finished washing the dishes! I actually didn’t mind washing them, there wasn’t that many. I am happy that my girls are finally sleeping at night and not all day.
Cleo i think your pic is distracting, but funny. every time i look up i see a butt. how nice. lol
Doc you dont count bc as yuo said you drink your coffee. lol not that we dont care about you and yuor not important bc yuo are, but your used to strange things.

Come on.” Sir Galahad: “Oh, let me have just a little bit of peril?”

doc, yea I know about your relationship with your kitchen appliances, LOL!

It is weird, because I will eat just about anything else.

tabby - When my husband & I were first married (or maybe while we were still engaged - don’t remember for sure), I would ask him what he wanted for supper, and I couldn’t get a request from him.

Dry and Dusty Premium Member over 15 years ago
doc, WE KNOW!! Don’t you get tired of the same thing EVERY day? You sound like my dad, he eats it until it’s gone! Sometimes he’ll mix everything together! ”It’s all going to the same place anyway!”
bmonk over 15 years ago
@doc, your schedule (sleep 2-6 twice a day) reminds me of the old base canard about the definition of a monk:
Someone who rises at 4 ‘o’clock.
Twice a day.
bmonk over 15 years ago
@Dry, when my granpa (and now my dad) were all alone as widowers, they had a rule: “you can come and visit, and bring whatever food you want, or cook what I have on hand. But when you go, it goes with you–unless I agree to take a portion that I will dish out.”
After all, they don’t want to waste food, and that dish of leftovers might, for just the one of them, be a week of dinners. They’d eat it. They would get mighty tired of it, but they’d finish it off.
Easier just to send it home with the cooks.

We do not eat prepackaged meals.
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago
Usually, if you put it in front of me and tell me it is edible, I will graciously eat it. And I ALWAYS have room for leftovers.

So, it payed off to just wait, hold out, even with the thought that it might be for the rest of my life, until I found the soulmate that I did find in my wife.
johnnydoc5 over 15 years ago

doc, I have the perfect breakfast for you!! LOL
bmonk over 15 years ago

That is why we remained friends, to save something from all those years.
bmonk over 15 years ago
Yes, johnny, that’s why we worry about her. But she seems to be very together and responsible no matter what the rest of the home is like.

Smiley Rmom over 15 years ago

I’d swoon. I wouldn’t need laughing gas either! lol

Dry - I will have you know that my glorious butt cheeks have always been well grounded.
John Candy was a special guy. It is so weird, how in every avenue of entertainment we seem to lose the best early.

carmy over 15 years ago
Dry, I’ve seen all of those movies too. Even the movies where he had small parts like Vacation and Home Alone, he was really good.
Tabby, I’m glad you are home safe from your walk. Now, I’m very curious about the “blushing.”
Unfortunately, I have to go wash the dishes real quick. Daughter #1 was supposed to wash them, but she fell asleep early. I have to wash them because I can not stand to see a dirty kitchen in the morning. sigh…BBL
