Okay breakfast and so soon after our road trip. Well, I have made smoked salmon hash, with garlic roasted potatoes and scrambled eggs. I have corn bread cooked in bacon grease. Doctor Toon supplied us with a tank of nuclear coffee. I have cognac and also fruit juices. Sliced fruit is in the cooler.
hi cleo: i finally caught up to the rest of you, and made a couple of posts on yesterdays strip. then i hit refresh to see who all was still here and found i’d missed the turnover. so, anyone who wants to see what i said can check yesterday (mainly speaking to what Dry is going through). i’m sorry i missed the road trip, it looked like it was fun!
i’ve been in the USA more than a few times, what with nephews going to school down there and such, and must admit i’ve enjoyed every state that i’ve visited. however, my favourite state is still the state of inebriation.
i’ll have some potatoes, eggs, and corn bread, please. and just a little bit of the smoked salmon hash (because it sounds too good to pass up). i’ll skip the nuclear coffee, for now, because i need to get up early in the A.M. to go to church (for my Dad’s sake) and have to sleep. i’ll be back in the late A.M. to see how everyone’s doing. TTFN
and a hug for ((Dry))
if that’s allowed to newbies

bigg, I’ll have some of that Mexican style hot chocolate with whipped cream, please. Thanks bigg. Delish!! Hey, do I have a whipped cream moustache? wipe, wipe. That’s better.
Marg, sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you aren’t to stiff and sore.
Good morning Tribe. I missed the ride but was there in spirit. We’re in the vacation belt of Canada and I think everyone I know has decided to come here for the last of the summer so I haven’t been able to get on very often. But I’ve tried to read most of the posts.
Cleo and Bigg, thanks for the breakie. I’ll have a little of everything. But I’ll pass on the cigars, thanks JFri. Love the smell in the outdoors (nostalgia) but hate it inside and on clothes!
You were talking about cars earlier, MoPar and Terry and I’ll remind you I had to crank my Morris Minor to start it!
Shika and Carmy, I hope I’ll catch up to you tomorrow(today) - if I have a chance to get back on to this machine.
YY* I’m sure *Dry will appreciate the hug - they are always very welcome.
BTW the place looks clean. Hy, you’re back!!!
And Wink - quit ruining it for the poor kids on the beach. His sand castle was NOT the snack bar!
Yes, I felt like we got gypped last summer, but I am loving this one. I do have to do a lot of outdoor watering though, but I will gladly accept the task for sunshine.
Akenta–My son wasn’t feeling well last night and since we got him down I haven’t been able to sleep. Go figure! Anyhow, I figured I’d check out the toons! I know you and Mopar are up early.
lonewolf hope your son is feeling better. johnny sometimes sneaks in early too. I was really hoping to catch mopar this morning. He’s got a longer commute than I do, and he actually has to travel on the freeway.
Well, hopefully I won’t be up much longer to find out. Although wolfangil gets up in about 45 minutes here. Once shes up, I usually don’t go back to sleep.
Good Morning, Terry and Doc!
I’m getting the girls off to school, 1 down and 3 to go.
Thought I would cruise the comics in between.
Have a good day everyone!
Good Morning everyone. I didn’t get much sleep here at the enchanted meadows myself last night, so don’t mind me if I take a little snooze under the nuclear coffee maker later this morning. The sound of pouring java will make me sleep easier. I’ll be fully awake at 10 am (eastern).
I only need to get my son out this morning. He says he’s ready for school(no after effects from last night). We had two girls but they are in college now.

Good morning all. Two nights of poor sleep and last night’s dreams were all nightmares. At one point I dreamt that I was trying to trip someone that wanted to break my mirror. I swung my foot to trip him and just missed kicking my wife (hard) in the thigh. My dreams are always in color and very vivid.
yyyguy I saw your post and the kind words. Thank you! Thanks for the hug too! Big or little, it’s up to you! I’ll take em all! I hope your father stays healthy for you! It is difficult, as you know, to see them age. My dad was so independant and had a good mind for his age. This really makes it even harder!
Morning, doc. I’ve often wished my kids would drink caffeine, so I could get them going in the mornings. Can you imagine what Carmy’s daughters would be like if they drank your nuclear coffee?
cleo - My FIL has dreams like that, too. I don’t know if they figured out why, it might be a side effect from all the meds he has to take. I hope it doesn’t become a frequent occurrence for you!.
RRAmom - Thanks, those dreams are stressful, but my normal dreams are often great adventures that can sometimes can last most of the night and often have an interesting plot line.
Terry, the girls are not making me pull my hair out yet. That may happen later though.
RRAmom, my girls won’t touch coffee, they see what it does to me!
DRY
I’m so sorry to hear about your father. I’ve been down that road and it’s not easy. My mother has been in a care facility for almost 7 years and it’s still hard to accept (my father passed 16 years ago).
Hey Dry - sorry to hear about your dad. I know what you mean though. My parents are getting close to the point where it’s time to give up living on the farm. That’ll be the hardest on my dad (it’s the last remaining part of my great grandfather’s homestead from the 1890’s and he still lives in the house he was born in). I remember being shocked when he got his first glasses and later a hearing aid.
I guess the moral of the story is don’t mess with the pirate!! http://assets.comics.com/dyn/str_strip/000000000/00000000/0000000/200000/90000/2000/900/292900/292900.full.gif
Speaking of coffee. I never like coffee until I went into a Seattle coffee shop and ordered espresso. It turns out, all the coffee I had tried before then was to weak. Once I had the first espresso I never turned back. I started drinking quadruple lattes, then eventually did away with the milk.
DFrog - I remember being shocked when my dad couldn’t reach as high as I could. (To put something away on a shelf.) He was 6’2” in his prime, and I’m only 5’5”. He died the following month. It seems like we don’t notice our parents’ aging, and then when we do, it is a real shocker! It has been so difficult watching my mom. She used to be very active - helped build our house, went on several foreign mission trips to help build churches (and she preferred the construction jobs), sewed everything you could imagine, and was still driving the day before her first stroke. Now she’s completely bedridden, sleeps most of the time, doesn’t talk unless she absolutely has to, etc. She’s also lost a lot of weight, probably about 100 pounds. She has some dementia due to the strokes, but for the most part knows everyone and what’s going on around her when she’s awake.
Watching our parents age isn’t an easy thing to do.
Cleo - That’s an interesting way to learn to drink coffee! But since I don’t even like coffee flavored candy, I’m not sure it would work for me. I’m doing okay without caffeine most days, if I need some, Cokes are sufficient. Now that I’m 50, I don’t think I’ll bother taking up the coffee habit. But it would have come in handy earlier in life.
good morning tribe. back from church and a few errands, so i now have a bit of catch up time. i’m glad some of you like my polar bear (marg & shika, if i remember right). i took it from a polar bear site i found a month or so back when i watched a Nature program about them on PBS and checked out their stie. i saved several photos, some of them of the bears swimming, and used one earlier in my online life. being a Canadian and a Winterphile, i’ve always claimed to be part polar bear (cold weather doesn’t really bother me). it seemed appropriate. my previous avatar, for those who remember, was a self portrait with the colours reversed - kind of a negative image of myself.
time for the toonland tour i didn’t get to last night. back in a bit.
RRAmom - I almost stopped drinking coffee this summer unless it was iced. My body temp is always on high. Now that the mornings are cooler I have started to drink it once again.
cleo - I used to have a boss who drank her coffee iced. My husband only drinks 1 or 2 cups of coffee first thing in the morning, so the temp doesn’t bother him much. Since it gets so hot here each summer, most places have central a/c, so drinking a hot beverage isn’t a problem unless one is going to be out in the heat in the middle of the day. I run on the cold side, but the only hot beverage I’ll drink is hot chocolate, and that’s not real often, probably because I don’t think about fixing a cup. If I’m really feeling cold, I prefer soaking in a tub of hot water to get warm.
RedHatt - I wondered. It is pretty rare to have a teacher’s strike in KS. Schools around here usually start in mid to late August. Kansas is a “right-to-work” state, so other than the aircraft plants, strikes here are pretty rare. It does help that our cost-of-living is a lot lower than on either coast, so our wages stretch farther.
RedHatt - I’ve just noticed you recently. I presume you’re a lady over 50? I thought I’d join the Red Hat Society this year, but I’m still too busy to have time. I’m still homeschooling my youngest (final year), so that limits my schedule considerably. At least my sons are old enough now that if I’m not needed to teach, I can leave them home and go somewhere. I’m going to head out later today, as soon as I get the schoolwork done that my son needs me to do with him.
“See you tonight Doc!! You should invest in the non-metallic garbage cans. LOL”
Back growing up, plastic garbage cans were illegal, not because there were any garbage fires, but because there might be garbage fires. Never mind that they were lots quieter, harder for the “sanitation engineers” to dent and crush, cheaper, easier to use…
bmonk - In Wichita, all the sanitation companies provide large plastic carts (with their colors & name on them). Wichita currently allows multiple companies to serve the same block (nice to have the competition to keep prices reasonably low), so that helps their employees know which houses to stop at. They are rather nice carts, since you have to drag in out to the curb once a week, and they can hold several normal trash cans’ worth. There is a trash hauler in our neighborhood, but since it is legal to burn (unless it is too dry) our trash, I’m too cheap to pay to get ours hauled. We have to take our non-burnables in, but that’s only about once a year, and $20 or so for a load.
‘Morning RMom, Cleo, Redhat, Ma’at, Lonewolf and DocT.
At least it’s morning here.
Redhat and Ma’at I’ve been away for a while so haven’t seen much of you. Welcome to the Tribe.Ma’at I appreciated your comments yesterday. Thank you.
RRA
During my first marriage we sold a ‘62 Ford pickup, 3-on-the-tree (anyone remember that?), to buy 2 acres south of Wichita to build a house on. I loved that house, I loved living in the country, I LOVED that truck (hated to sell it), but unfortunately the husband didn’t last. I had to leave it all behind. The last time I was in Wichita was to auction my mother’s belongings and sell her house. BTW, we’re about the same age.
Oops and hi Carmy Hope I didn’t miss any other morning types.
Tabby congratulations! Did you ever find out where the money came from? What a nice gift for you!
I didn’t mean to ignore YYY. Have a very nice day - fellow Canuck!
*DF* your family mirrors mine somewhat except my uncle kept the homestead and my dad moved to Calgary when he was very young. At 92 he is still in his own home but we worry constantly.
Ma’at, we sold our dream car Volkswagen 411 to buy our home in 72. But I do remember the 3-on-the-tree. I drove a half ton in University and loved being high up and able to see over everyone.
hi DawnAvril, Ma’at, (long time no see bmonk), and others i haven’t all ready greeted. i know it’s still morning to you west coasters (sleds? naaaah.) and mountaineers, but here outside of hogtown it’s going on 1:30 pm and time for this big old bear to get ready for work. stay healthy and happy, i hope to return tonight. (else it will be for Friday!)
TTFN.
and i’m gone.
BMonk sorry I missed your comment. Didn’t realize you were online. BTW like many immigrants to Canada, my father’s family came through North Dakota. My oldest uncle stayed there to pay off the family voyage and raise his family while the rest came on to Alberta. We still visit with the cousins and their families.
Konnichiwa! to all of you. I my self am not a surfer but it looks like the bear (whatever his name is, I don’t know yet!) fell a little bit short of the snack bar.
Afternoon, Dawn!Ma’at - I’ve always lived on the south side of Wichita - either in or out of the city limits. Well, I lived for 1 1/2 years in OKC, but other than that… So I’m pretty familiar with the south area. I’m guessing you were either Haysville or Peck, maybe Mulvane or Clearwater?
Hi Lonewolf. Yes, I’m on for a very short time then have to go. Was here a while longer today but just had a phone call - more company coming. I love them dearly but…
So cy’all. Hope to be back tonight.
RRA
Sorry, I missed you. RL interferes. The house was built just west of Derby, but I hung around the other places you mentioned. My favorite was always the Bartlett Arboretum; I was married in the sunken garden there. But I grew up on the west side, close by the zoo.
Yes Terry, Saying konnichiwa means hello. Now as I mentioned a few days ago, if I were to say something like “Konnichiwa O’ genki desu ka?” that would mean “Hello! how are you?”
lonewolf - You asked what I am doing today. I did some watering, went for a bike ride and just got back from a swim. Later when the grass dries I will be mowing, edging and whacking the weeds. How about you?
Cleo–It has been raining for the since yesterday and is supposed to continue until tomorrow. I really haven’t done a whole lot (health) as the weather has given me a good excuse. I putzed around in the garage getting a list of automotive supplies I need but that’s about it. Tomorrow I need to get my a$$ in gear regardless though. I have two cars scheduled for repairs.
We have German-Russians, also called “Germans from Russia” (formed colonies there under Catherine the Great; about a century later came to the US.) They speak mostly Platdeutsch, with a few Russian loanwords. Is that “Speaking German in Russian”?
bmonk & Lonewolf - In the countryside of the city I live near is the largest population of Russians in the United States. The men and women have a dress style more associated here, with the 50’s and 60’s, but the kids are becoming fluent in English as well as Russian.
johnny
My hubs knows some Sanskrit, he learned it in the Army but I don’t recall why. He’s fluent in about 4 or 5 different languages. We went into a bakery in Italy some years ago and he ordered in Italian. Turned out the owners were from Germany, and didn’t know much Italian. No problem! He switched to German and continued to order. I had no idea what anyone was saying, but I was happy with what I ended up with. Heck - it was a bakery!
okay im home…. i only saw my name once…. Dawn ( i think it was you) no i did not find out who/what the money came from. but i did find out some bad news…..
they are taking me…. well took me out of my eng 102 class and placed me in eng.101. I am smart enough and tested out of 101 but they changed the score from a 25 to a 28 so im stuck in 101 with the slower people… shame on me for saying that i know… God forgive me, but its upseting. im unsociable because of it.
Sorry I couldn’t wake you MoPar but the garbage cans are at doc’s house, not that banging on them wakes him up. I’ll try and do a better job tomorrow morning. It was really nice having someone to talk to before work.
I had to check back in to see what was up before I go jump in the lake to wash off the grass from the mowing. Anyone who would like a nice refreshing dip cab join me.
Cleo* its hotter here and i was so hot on the way home i wanted to take all my clothes off as well. trust me it was HOT the ac in the car has a mind of its own. it works in the mornings when its cool and you dont need it but when it gets hot and you need it it doesn’t work. who knows its crazy.
“Sledgehammers are ALWAYS better than a screwdriver!!”
I believe engineers call that the “Bigger Hammer” principle.
Reminds me of the Navy CPO who extensively trained his ratings on the various wrenches and the proper use of each kind. The next day, one of his workers asked him for a “big old wrench”
The CPO asked, “How big, and which kind?”
“Oh, it doesn’t really matter. I’m gonna use it for a hammer anyway.”
Well, after all that, I’m exhausted. I need to rest up so I can try this again in the morning. I’ll try not to destory MoPar’s home, since he’s still trying to put it back together.
Well, you can’t finger any of this damage on me this time!
Ma’at, I KNEW someone would have known that, I shoulda used Latin, at least I would be that someone.
BTW JFri, sledgehammers are the much better tool of choice.
well im back form my bike ride…. 2 hours later. i rode for about and hour and played with my dog for maybe 30min and layed on the swing for maybe 30 mins now im here and about to be gone. need to get in the shower and out and then into bed. i have to get up early tomorrow i have class at 8 out at 10 not bad, but its the stairs its always the stairs. i hate stairs. lol good night tribe.
Dry and Doc get a room #:0P
love you two!!! and im just messing with ya.
*((((((((((DRY))))))))))) I love you let us know, prayers going your way.
Hang in there though. I hate to be the morbid one, but as horrible as these moments may be, they will be better than without him. I was unfortunate enough to find this out the hard way. OH, I have made myself sad. :(
Hi Shika, sorry I missed you.
I am up way to late, I got to get to bed before midnight (40 minutes) so I can get 5 hours of sleep tonight.
Best head home.
Good night all, and Peace & Love!
Almost 10pm here, I have to get up extra early tomorrow.
Nytol
And Dry… it will get better, I promise. I went through 3 months with my mother, by her side every minute. I thought I’d never make it, but I did. Hang in there.

Terry, the girls are not making me pull my hair out yet. That may happen later though. RRAmom, my girls won’t touch coffee, they see what it does to me!
dpetrill about 15 years ago
DRY I’m so sorry to hear about your father. I’ve been down that road and it’s not easy. My mother has been in a care facility for almost 7 years and it’s still hard to accept (my father passed 16 years ago).

A big teachers strike is about to happen out west here ! Seems like every year just at the last moment !
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Carmy - Same thing with my sons. They’ve seen how people need their morning caffeine and won’t touch it.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
RRAmom—Was your link supposed to be for the comic strip “Fast Track”?
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
RedHatt - Where out west? California? I guess the teachers’ union knows when a strike would be the most effective.

Speaking of coffee. I never like coffee until I went into a Seattle coffee shop and ordered espresso. It turns out, all the coffee I had tried before then was to weak. Once I had the first espresso I never turned back. I started drinking quadruple lattes, then eventually did away with the milk.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Morning JFri—Pig better come up with a better plan I think!! LOL
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Terry, ya think? Morning, sir.
((((((((((((((((((((DRY!!))))))))))))))))))))COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Doc—I got JFri’s to work earlier. Your’s too!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Cleo - That’s an interesting way to learn to drink coffee! But since I don’t even like coffee flavored candy, I’m not sure it would work for me. I’m doing okay without caffeine most days, if I need some, Cokes are sufficient. Now that I’m 50, I don’t think I’ll bother taking up the coffee habit. But it would have come in handy earlier in life.
yyyguy about 15 years ago
good morning tribe. back from church and a few errands, so i now have a bit of catch up time. i’m glad some of you like my polar bear (marg & shika, if i remember right). i took it from a polar bear site i found a month or so back when i watched a Nature program about them on PBS and checked out their stie. i saved several photos, some of them of the bears swimming, and used one earlier in my online life. being a Canadian and a Winterphile, i’ve always claimed to be part polar bear (cold weather doesn’t really bother me). it seemed appropriate. my previous avatar, for those who remember, was a self portrait with the colours reversed - kind of a negative image of myself. time for the toonland tour i didn’t get to last night. back in a bit.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
RRAmom - I almost stopped drinking coffee this summer unless it was iced. My body temp is always on high. Now that the mornings are cooler I have started to drink it once again.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
cleo - I used to have a boss who drank her coffee iced.
TheRedHatt about 15 years ago
RRA - South Seattle area, it’ll probably grow like a cancer tho before it’s over. Kids are to start back 9/2 !
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
See you tonight Doc!! You should invest in the non-metallic garbage cans. LOL
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
RedHatt - I wondered. It is pretty rare to have a teacher’s strike in KS. Schools around here usually start in mid to late August. Kansas is a “right-to-work” state, so other than the aircraft plants, strikes here are pretty rare. It does help that our cost-of-living is a lot lower than on either coast, so our wages stretch farther.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Good suggestion, Lonewolf! But knowing those ornery gals, that wouldn’t slow them down much. They’ll come up with something else.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
RedHatt - I’ve just noticed you recently. I presume you’re a lady over 50? I thought I’d join the Red Hat Society this year, but I’m still too busy to have time. I’m still homeschooling my youngest (final year), so that limits my schedule considerably. At least my sons are old enough now that if I’m not needed to teach, I can leave them home and go somewhere. I’m going to head out later today, as soon as I get the schoolwork done that my son needs me to do with him.

Back growing up, plastic garbage cans were illegal, not because there were any garbage fires, but because there might be garbage fires. Never mind that they were lots quieter, harder for the “sanitation engineers” to dent and crush, cheaper, easier to use…
yyyguy about 15 years ago
and, of course, all the different sizes and shapes of recycling bins are made of plastic, now. so much for “bad plastics!”
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Ma’at - I’m out in the country, but Wichita is the closest large city.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
bmonk - In Wichita, all the sanitation companies provide large plastic carts (with their colors & name on them).

Welcome to the Tribe. Ma’at I appreciated your comments yesterday. Thank you.
dpetrill about 15 years ago
RRA During my first marriage we sold a ‘62 Ford pickup, 3-on-the-tree (anyone remember that?), to buy 2 acres south of Wichita to build a house on. I loved that house, I loved living in the country, I LOVED that truck (hated to sell it), but unfortunately the husband didn’t last. I had to leave it all behind. The last time I was in Wichita was to auction my mother’s belongings and sell her house. BTW, we’re about the same age.
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Oops and hi Carmy Hope I didn’t miss any other morning types. Tabby congratulations! Did you ever find out where the money came from? What a nice gift for you!

I didn’t mean to ignore YYY. Have a very nice day - fellow Canuck! *DF* your family mirrors mine somewhat except my uncle kept the homestead and my dad moved to Calgary when he was very young. At 92 he is still in his own home but we worry constantly.

DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Ma’at, we sold our dream car Volkswagen 411 to buy our home in 72. But I do remember the 3-on-the-tree. I drove a half ton in University and loved being high up and able to see over everyone.

BMonk sorry I missed your comment. Didn’t realize you were online. BTW like many immigrants to Canada, my father’s family came through North Dakota. Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Afternoon, Dawn! Ma’at - I’ve always lived on the south side of Wichita - either in or out of the city limits. Well, I lived for 1 1/2 years in OKC, but other than that… So I’m pretty familiar with the south area. I’m guessing you were either Haysville or Peck, maybe Mulvane or Clearwater?
steelbladeoffury about 15 years ago
Konnichiwa Terry.
steelbladeoffury about 15 years ago
So the bear in today’s strip is called Wink. I just looked up Rob Harrell website to learn the characters name.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Blade–I take it that translates to “hello” or “good afternoon”?

RRA Sorry, I missed you. RL interferes. The house was built just west of Derby, but I hung around the other places you mentioned. My favorite was always the Bartlett Arboretum; I was married in the sunken garden there. But I grew up on the west side, close by the zoo.
dpetrill about 15 years ago
Hey Lonewolf For some reason I thought you were older. Now I find you have an 8th grader. I helped raise two boys. They can be a handful sometimes.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Maat–I also have a 21 yr old, a 23yr old and a 28yr old.
You probably were right about age in the first place!
steelbladeoffury about 15 years ago
Yes Terry, Saying konnichiwa means hello. Now as I mentioned a few days ago, if I were to say something like “Konnichiwa O’ genki desu ka?” that would mean “Hello! how are you?”
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Blade–I would say that is the Chinese language. And I don’t speak that language.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Where’d you go Maat?
steelbladeoffury about 15 years ago
Actually Terry it is Kanji which belongs to the Japanese. I’m not really good at it myself yet, but I’m still learning.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Blade–Don’t know that language either.
bmonk about 15 years ago
I caught up with some recent comments I missed (too much RL going on, dagnabbit!) and saw the Texas sidetalk, which reminded me of a favorite joke:
Texan: My ranch is so big, I can get in my pickup and drive for 6 hours in any direction, and still not reach the edge of my land!
Dakotan: Yeah, I used to have a pickup like that too.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hey Bmonk–It appears as if everyone has vacated the premises for the time being!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
lonewolf - You asked what I am doing today. I did some watering, went for a bike ride and just got back from a swim. Later when the grass dries I will be mowing, edging and whacking the weeds. How about you?
steelbladeoffury about 15 years ago
Terry that is why I speak mostly English here so that people can better understand me.
bmonk about 15 years ago
I’d say “It’s all Greek to me–except I can puzzle out Greek.” Maybe I’d better say “It’s like sitting at a Turkish sermon!”
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo–It has been raining for the since yesterday and is supposed to continue until tomorrow. I really haven’t done a whole lot (health) as the weather has given me a good excuse. I putzed around in the garage getting a list of automotive supplies I need but that’s about it. Tomorrow I need to get my a$$ in gear regardless though. I have two cars scheduled for repairs.

Bmonk–It’s like trying to speak German in Russian!!
bmonk about 15 years ago
We have German-Russians, also called “Germans from Russia” (formed colonies there under Catherine the Great; about a century later came to the US.) They speak mostly Platdeutsch, with a few Russian loanwords. Is that “Speaking German in Russian”?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

Hi everybody! Foreign language eh? How ‘bout Sanskrit? Don’t know too many that can speak/read/understand that.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
bmonk & Lonewolf - In the countryside of the city I live near is the largest population of Russians in the United States. The men and women have a dress style more associated here, with the 50’s and 60’s, but the kids are becoming fluent in English as well as Russian.
Hope your health improves Lonewolf.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

dpetrill about 15 years ago
johnny My hubs knows some Sanskrit, he learned it in the Army but I don’t recall why.

Good Night Tribe!
It’s been a long day’s night, or something like that.

Shika I love your hearts!

Tabby sorry about the class change but look at it this way. You’ll be at the top of your class and will be able to really impress your profs.
