thanks for brekkie, Shika. i’ll have a shipload of pancakes, positively drowned in maple syrup, and a cup of the nuclear coffee from the pipeline. (better than even Timmie’s!)
I’ll have some of Shika’s pancakes, and some of bigg’s pumpkin spice muffins and chai tea.
Shika, we miss you, girl! Cleo, good morning, and I hope that you have another fine day today. My husband and I joined a health club that’s very close to the house.
Morning Tribe…. IT’s been a long day and will also be a short night by staying up this late. I’ve gotten hooked on Farmville and FarmTown, a coupla farming games on facebook.
Cleo, Shika, Y, Marge, Bigg … It’s been awhile. HOWDY!
hi marg nice to be here. don’t you hate when RL gets in the way of things you’d like to do? been busy lately, but decided to catch up. finished gocomics before the turnover and am now working my way back through today’s while popping in and out here. it’s quarter to two, here and i’m debating how many of my usual puzzles i’ll try to catch up on before bedtime. back to toonland first, however.
howdy Rad i feel your sleeplessness! i’m running on a short night and looking at another one. fortunately it’s for pleasant reasons, so i don’t mind too much. (as long as i don’t crash out before the weekend.)
early morning, cleokaya. i was up at 7 because i had to be at the dealer at 8 to get my car serviced. i went back home while they were working on it and wound up nodding in front of my taped mythbusters episode; so i had a bit of a nap after it was over. spent the rest of the morning running errands, then 8 hours at work and a couple of hours on line catching up on the toons. my normal day is around 9:30 am until 2 am (or sometimes 3 am) unless i’m going to play 9 holes of golf before work.
Cleo, it’s only about 2 miles from the house, so riding a bike there would be a piece of cake. The only other health clubs and the ‘Y’ are all located in Prescott, and are about half an hour away by car. Having it close by saves on gas.
Dusty, Wink is getting really angry. I hope your little legs can run fast.
Good Morning Tribe!
Ooh, lovely breakfast choices. I’ll have some pancakes and some of Doc’s coffee. thank you, Shika.
I’ll also grab a pumpkin spice muffin and some cran-razz to go, for later. Thanks bigg!
Good Morning, everyone. Joy, MoPar, Tabby, Marg, anf of corse you, TerryLonewolf, I think you got everyone’s attention…. [Seductive Voice] Especially me! [Girlish Giggling]
How do everyone! Finally found a minute to get back on to see the latest yapping. Still got plenty of stuff to do, but now I will relax, maybe outside, it is gorgeous here!
Hi Terry and Dry!
It has been a while since I last got in and was able to stay. With summer winding down, it has been hectic for me. That, and the confounded house always needs work. Once I get back to Ann Arbor, I’ll be able to get on here a little more consistently.
Hello all. I was wondering where everyone was. I kept coming back and seeing my post sitting there as a lonely beacon. I knew y’all would return eventually. Is has been a very nice fall like day today. I have been spending as much time outside as possible, as today is supposed to be the last sunny day for awhile. And where I live you learn to take these days and enjoy them while they are here.
Akenta & MoPar - hello to you both as well. I actually was wandering through the garden marveling at how lovely a place I live in. As I have mentioned before, it is like living in a park. There have been relatively few people on the lake despite the fact that school hasn’t started yet. With the weather supposed to change, I’m surprised, but perfectly content that with my swims today, I have felt like I have had the lake to myself.
bmonk, while I find that most amusing, and might read the book sometime in the future, I think that the old “It’s not what you know, but who you know” is starting to catch up to employers.
Hey Terry, that is good news!
Hey everyone! (((HUGS))) I’m having lots of tests, so I don’t check this site every day. This morning they made me swallow a marshmallow as part of an upper GI barium test. Not the cute, little baby marshmallows you put in hot chocolate. No. I’m talking about the original, big as your head size! Doctors have a strange sense of humor.
It’s very tempting, but I’d rather stay up now and get to bed early. I made a milky cup of coffee, that should give me a little energy. I’m staying away from Doc’s coffee until the morning.
BTW Doc, your waking up sounds were quite amusing.
Doc did you ever check out my comment at the Barn?
Carmy and still another reason I’m glad doc and I are just friends! Poor wildcheetah she must REALLY love him! ROFLMAO!!!
Free time is a precious commodity for me at the moment, but I think my parents worked themselves too hard to do anything else at the new house today, so I should be around for a little bit longer before I head to bed.
I have moved into a new stage in life, about 2 weeks old, where I am going to bed much later and getting up at about the same time. At the same time, I am not falling instantly to sleep like I usually have been able to do. What do you think, side effects from
Dry - I am not old. Maybe I have trouble walking, maybe I sometimes make no sense, maybe there is not much hair on my head and maybe I often forget to wear clothes. That doesn’t make me old, it could just as likely describe a toddler.
Okay, my arm is twisted! I’ll do it. You all better be patient with me. I know football, but I’m not really sure how this works.
Do I go there now and sign up?
Carmy I won’t have much time these next couple of weeks either, JUST DO IT! It will be fun, and I have had other issues as you all know, so I haven’t had the time to figure it all out either, and I do know football! Go for it! Our buddeis wil help us, johnny says he doesn’t cheat, but I’m not so sure about Terry! LOL!!! JUst kidding my friend you know that!
im finished my walk and my hw for the most part… lol the best thing about having a day between classes is that i have a day to do hw. lol now im going do the dishes. lol bbs. love you all.
TERRY are you talking to me? If there is one thing I am,I am LOYAL! to friends, family and my beliefs, and to BRETT! I hope he goes out WINNING THE SUPER BOWL! HE HAS EARNED IT!!
i was hungry today. i am able to eat and everything. it must have been the 24 hour bug the neighbors had… but i am feeling so much better i could have ran around the block tonight. but now i am tired and going to bed. peace and love all. need sleep. love yuo guys
Brett is one of my all time favorite players in football, lady!! I’m messing with ya. I just hope he doesn’t play bad or gets injured. Each year the odds are against him.
Thankfully, the prescription meds usually work well when I take them at the first sign. For some reason this evening, it didn’t help, so had to take a 2nd. But of course, I always wait until I can tell the 1st pill didn’t work, so that means a couple more hours and increased pain. I haven’t had this bad of one for a couple years (if I remember correctly), so at least most of the time it isn’t that big of a deal.
Terry I know he’s already won the Super Bowl and I too hope he doesn’t have a bad year or get hurt, BUT WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT FOR HIM TO GO OUT WITH ONE MORE SUPER BOWL WIN! That last game with the Pakcers broke his heart, I could see it in his face, couldn’t you?
And I am a Packer, have been my whole life, but I guess I’m more a Brett fan! I would love to see him kick a@@ in the game with the Packers, not to show up the team but to show up the management!!
Terry I’ll check for your reply tmr. I have to get some rest while I can.
I have to close the windows at night now because you can feel the fall weather settling into the night! How appropriate, Fall, the change of seasons, and a major change soon to come for me and my family!
Drat, and I was so looking forward to that nice Johnson’s baby powder smell. Grumble, grumble, flick flackin’, snafalgious, crapatacious, farkelettic, ding whippin’ crapadoodle.
“They filled his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind. And when they touched the powder off cleo lost his mind!”. With apologies to Johnny Horton!
Well what do you know someone finally shows up and JFri at that. Do not worry my man. My fantasies do not include a man powdering my butt. Actually, my fantasies don’t involve anyone powdering it. I just thought that as long as Dry was offering, I’d take her up on it. Where and what have you been up to today?
I have been spending the last hour or more at you tube watching old hendrix and chambers bros. Plus some
Chilliwack and Yardbirds. Youtube is a fun place to reminisce.
yep me too and this evening is one of them. i was just listening to T Rex - Bang the Gong. Gosh, so many good guitarists and so many good dead guitarists.
I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but today was the perfect early fall day. I spent all day outdoors, because the forecast is for a wet labor day. I never miss spending a nice day outdoors.
Oh, I play at* guitar (Yamaha 312 similar to Glen Frey’s) but am just a plinker. Wish I could really play but I suppose I need to find *more time. Oh, wait! I’m running short on that.
You need to start a fire in the outdoor pit, put a snifter of Booker’s on your left, with a lit cigar on your right and just start strumming. I like to play the djembe, trying to keep beat with the song I am listening to. Get enough alcohol in the system and I begin to believe that I am not half bad.
It amazes me how much warmer it is down your way. We reached a high of about 72. Being near the sound cools things down, but your summer highs are always up there. My wife’s dad has a summer home in Olympia and it is so much warmer there than here that it blows me away.
I love watching a great natural and comfortable guitarist. I have enjoyed watching Johnny Winters, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knopfler, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Buddy Guy and others I am not thinking of in concert.
Now, there’s a coincidence……..my first concert was the Beach Boys, too. I saw Chuck Berry in the mid ‘80’s, well after his percieved prime but he played for 2 hours and wouldn’t quit until they cut his power. Best concert I ever went to. BTW, the opening act for the Beach Boys was Jan & Dean.
That is funny because the concert that I saw Chuck Berry in Led Zeppelin tried to end the concert, but a group of rowdy fans wouldn’t let them. They kept threatening to tear apart the stage with all their equipment still set up. One guy tried to crash through a barred door behind me to get into the concert free and broke his arm. When I saw the Beach Boys, Chad & Jeremy were the opening act.

Good Night Akenta
Have fun Doc!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Dry - I am not old. Maybe I have trouble walking, maybe I sometimes make no sense, maybe there is not much hair on my head and maybe I often forget to wear clothes. That doesn’t make me old, it could just as likely describe a toddler.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo–So what are you saying? You’re an old toddler? LOL
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
Whoops! If Akenta has gone to bed, then I had better head that way myself. Good night all!!!
Akenta about 15 years ago
Before, I forget (again), I’m still trying to get one more for the Yahoo Fantasy Football League.
It’s open to the public, but doesn’t look easy to get a random person.
Here’s the information (dawn want to try and get in again?):
League ID# 480147 Password: NuclearCoffee

Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Carmy I’m surprised I haven’t heard any comments about my teams name! Maybe the guys haven’t picked up on it! ROFLMAO!!!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

Brett is one of my all time favorite players in football, lady!! I’m messing with ya. I just hope he doesn’t play bad or gets injured. Each year the odds are against him.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Who’s left here anyhow???
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
I’ve been lurking. Massive migraine this evening, finally over it, but wiped out. I’ll be heading to bed soon, but I can stay for a few minutes.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hi RRAmom–I won’t ask how you’re doing. You just told me. Sorry to hear that. I don’t get migraines, but I don’t like headaches at all!!
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Thankfully, the prescription meds usually work well when I take them at the first sign. For some reason this evening, it didn’t help, so had to take a 2nd. But of course, I always wait until I can tell the 1st pill didn’t work, so that means a couple more hours and increased pain. I haven’t had this bad of one for a couple years (if I remember correctly), so at least most of the time it isn’t that big of a deal.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Terry I know he’s already won the Super Bowl and I too hope he doesn’t have a bad year or get hurt, BUT WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT FOR HIM TO GO OUT WITH ONE MORE SUPER BOWL WIN! That last game with the Pakcers broke his heart, I could see it in his face, couldn’t you? And I am a Packer, have been my whole life, but I guess I’m more a Brett fan! I would love to see him kick a@@ in the game with the Packers, not to show up the team but to show up the management!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Terry I’ll check for your reply tmr. I have to get some rest while I can. I have to close the windows at night now because you can feel the fall weather settling into the night! How appropriate, Fall, the change of seasons, and a major change soon to come for me and my family!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Night DRY
((((((((((DRY))))))))))cleokaya about 15 years ago

Drat, and I was so looking forward to that nice Johnson’s baby powder smell. Grumble, grumble, flick flackin’, snafalgious, crapatacious, farkelettic, ding whippin’ crapadoodle.

“They filled his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind. And when they touched the powder off cleo lost his mind!”. With apologies to Johnny Horton!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Well what do you know someone finally shows up and JFri at that. Do not worry my man. My fantasies do not include a man powdering my butt. Actually, my fantasies don’t involve anyone powdering it. I just thought that as long as Dry was offering, I’d take her up on it. Where and what have you been up to today?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I have been spending the last hour or more at you tube watching old hendrix and chambers bros. Plus some Chilliwack and Yardbirds. Youtube is a fun place to reminisce.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Been busier than a one armed paper hanger repapering the ceiling of the Cistine Chapel and today didn’t help!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Yeah, there have been days I have spent way too much time at You Tube!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
yep me too and this evening is one of them. i was just listening to T Rex - Bang the Gong. Gosh, so many good guitarists and so many good dead guitarists.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Got a double shot of Bokers?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Sounds good to me.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Bang A Gong is SO hard to play because they keep playing on the upbeat instead of the doenbeat. Just seems backwards to my natural tendencies.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I also have some Rocky Patel Signature series cigars.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Do you play any instruments?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Light ‘em up! Good whiskey, good cigars, fall in the evening air……life is good!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but today was the perfect early fall day. I spent all day outdoors, because the forecast is for a wet labor day. I never miss spending a nice day outdoors.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Oh, I play at* guitar (Yamaha 312 similar to Glen Frey’s) but am just a plinker. Wish I could really play but I suppose I need to find *more time. Oh, wait! I’m running short on that.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
You need to start a fire in the outdoor pit, put a snifter of Booker’s on your left, with a lit cigar on your right and just start strumming. I like to play the djembe, trying to keep beat with the song I am listening to. Get enough alcohol in the system and I begin to believe that I am not half bad.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
We had temps up to 88 today but it started cooling off quickly after 3:00.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
It amazes me how much warmer it is down your way. We reached a high of about 72. Being near the sound cools things down, but your summer highs are always up there. My wife’s dad has a summer home in Olympia and it is so much warmer there than here that it blows me away.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Give me enough whiskey and I think I’m Jimi Hendrix! In reality, more like Jiminy Cricket!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
It *is* odd how different our weather can be given the fact we are less than 300 miles apart.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I love watching a great natural and comfortable guitarist. I have enjoyed watching Johnny Winters, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knopfler, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Buddy Guy and others I am not thinking of in concert.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Ever watch the Beach Boys or Chuck Berry play? It’s as natural for them as it is for me to breathe!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I have watched both in concert. The Beach Boys were the first band I ever saw live.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Chuck Berry opened in Vancouver, BC for Led Zeppelin in like 1971. I paid $3.50 for the ticket.
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Now, there’s a coincidence……..my first concert was the Beach Boys, too. I saw Chuck Berry in the mid ‘80’s, well after his percieved prime but he played for 2 hours and wouldn’t quit until they cut his power. Best concert I ever went to. BTW, the opening act for the Beach Boys was Jan & Dean.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
That is funny because the concert that I saw Chuck Berry in Led Zeppelin tried to end the concert, but a group of rowdy fans wouldn’t let them. They kept threatening to tear apart the stage with all their equipment still set up. One guy tried to crash through a barred door behind me to get into the concert free and broke his arm. When I saw the Beach Boys, Chad & Jeremy were the opening act.
