Hello big, Steve, Fri & Dry - Did everyone have a nice Halloween. I had a great time over at a friends house who actually gets Trick or Treaters. What is it nowadays? There were more high schoolers than little kids.
Now if I could just really gain an hour…morning all! Here’s some fruit bits & various teas for you to enjoy with Big’s wonderful breakfast spread. See everyone after the sun rises. Or at least those who can be out in the sun.
I’ll be skipping any thought of breakfast until tomorrow morning. Crepes with seafood in a cheese sauce and deep fried zucchini, tasty dinner, but way heavier than I am used to eating. None of us could eat the pie and whipped cream. Just no stomach space left. We had a great time though and it was neat to see the kids in costume. But, I have noticed, both last year and now this year, the college students are dressing very provocatively. Lots of bare skin. Our friends daughter was dressed in the costume of a Playboy club bunny and her boyfriend was dressed in a loin cloth. Last year on the streets, young ladies were in baby dolls and skimpy dresses. Ah…Halloween. For me, it’s not the candy, it’s the eye candy.
Dry - our friends went through all their candy as well.
Mopar & Terry - You guys might appreciate this. The friends we visited tonight jacked their house off of it’s foundation and it is a big house. Over a year’s time metal joists were added as support and a full, huge auto body shop was added as a basement. My friend likes to race cars at Bonneville Salt Flats and he also likes to restore and rebuild cars. He can have four cars in his shop at one time. He has added a bar with stools plus a pool table and ping pong table, plus a bathroom with a hot tub. It is a paradise for anyone interested in working on cars. He has a work bench that is probably 30 feet long. It is all heated and he has also added a seperate garage for his motorhome. He has two garage doors into his shop and then another door to allow access to his motor home. The space with all of this is not cramped . I don’t know how much he spent on this, but he made it look nice. It doesn’t look like a house jacked up. He added river rock walls on the outside so it looks just like a neighborhood house.
We had nine kids this year - guess they’re afraid of the flu around here - Vancouver island is a high risk area.
Ah well, more for me. We had twelve last year!
In honor of my American friends I have chosen a Thanksgiving avatar.
Well it looks like I have hit the end of the late nighters. I have a little energy left any up and atem morning folk or arriving Halloween party folk still about.

History of Whoopie Pie - How To Make Whoopie Pies

A big glass of milk is almost mandatory when eating a whoopie pie.
A whoopie pie is like a sandwich, but made with two soft cookies with a fluffy white filling. Traditional whoopies pies are made with vegetable shortening, not butter. The original and most commonly made whoopie pie is chocolate. but cooks like to experiment, and today pumpkin whoopie pies are a favorite seasonal variation.
The recipe for whoopie pies has its origins with the Amish, and in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, it is not uncommon to find roadside farm stands offering these desserts. Amish cooking is about old recipes that have fed families for generations, with no trendy or cross-cultural fusions or mixtures. These cake-like whoopie pies were considered a special treat because they were originally made from leftover batter. According to Amish legend, when children would find these treats in their lunch bags, they would shout “Whoopie!”

In this New England cookbook, a recipe for Amish Whoopie Pie was featured using Marshmallow Fluff in the filling.
Well, the morning crew will be arriving soon. I have put out a station for screwdrivers, bloody marys, greyhounds for those who believe that one needs to approach the weird of this world with a buzz.
No Dry, I have had several Whoopie Pies in my day. They are okay, but not something that I would go out of my way for. Now for something with the same general shape, I prefer a Klondike Bar. It is the filling that leaves me a little void of interest in a Whoopie Pie. I know that you would never trick us Dry. snerk
Marg - YUP, Your job just became more difficult. I personally think that every state should have the same policy. Who needs this time change thing? It worked when it was needed, but now it is just unnecessary.
Morning, tribe.
I just didn’t have the heart to ruin your party last night. My mom passed away about 6:40pm. It is a good thing no trick-or-treaters came to the door. They might have gotten a little more than they bargained for. I’m thankful she’s no longer suffering! The funeral will be on Friday, so that people traveling in from out-of-town won’t have to take as many days off work.
I ‘m so very sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. She is in a much more peaceful place now. All my prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.
Okay, now I can handle some Cinnamon French Toast with sausages. And also some fruit bits. Docs coffee installed as an IV drip should just about set me up for the morning.
It didn’t seem like the right time to say anything but I just wanted to mention that today is my 34th wedding anniversary. I can’t believe it. Where did all those years go? I worked last night and have to work again tonight so we’ll save our celebration for later.
I’m going to crash now and I’ll try to get back before I leave tonight.
Just a quick pop in to say hello and offer my condolences
(((((RRAMom)))) And since I haven’t put anything into the tribal bank for a while, a large deposit.
It is a beautiful sunny Sunday, but I think the only opportunity that I will have to enjoy it will be on our bike ride. Still moving furniture and cleaning up. It looks like a hurricane touched down in our house.
JFri - Correct. The hurricane is a result of LG and her decision to change the function of three rooms. With her around I am glad you guys visited my neighbor.
I have a sense about these things. I sense a certain Saint-a&t desires a snifter of Booker’s. Snifters are supposed to be filled to the brim. Correct ?!?
Oooh, I’ve said too much! And I certainly won’t be telling any of those stories here.
Carmy, I like Scheffler, I think that he is a very underrated tight end. It doesn’t matter though, because my midseason pick for champion is Terry, nobody has come close to beating him in weeks!
oh johnny, johnny, johnny! If you don’t tell us, we’ll imagine all sorts of things! I already know what I’m thinking!
Oh lets’s not bring up Scheffler, shall we? And thanks, now I understand your good luck message, in other words, I have a snowballs chance in H e l l of beating him this week!
No worries MoPar!
If you read my first statement, you can get idea of what happened. And the ladies here always are in jest, the females that are at Michigan, one could hardly call “ladies.”
I am now doing hw that i have “put off” it is due 10:50 am monday morning. it shouldnt take that long to do. once i get it all printed out i can take it outside in the 71 degrees weather and work on it.
Dry, I take my refusal last night back. May I please have a whoopie pie? Sounds like some of the concoctions I had when I was in Quebec. Not quite as bad as Krispy Kremes but…
Oh, Dry, I’m good at waiting!
Hi Lonewolf
Nice to see people are back to normal!
We have beautiful weather here so we’ll be going for a walk soon. Please understand if i just disappear.
Hello Tabby & Dawn. Yes Dawn the weather is wonderful. You got to love the NW. Where else can a weatherman make a prediction of wind and rain for Halloween, be totally wrong and still pull in big bucks. After all the gray, rainy days I am really appreciating these sunny days.
Cleo, I do agree! We sat at the window this morning and watched a varied thrush and northern flicker dance around in the maple leaves. Guess they were finding bugs, but it was sure fun to watch.
Say, I’m just wondering here. When do people who live in places that don’t have the Daylight Savings time change twice a year change the batteries in their smoke alarms?
The Saint I have for an avatar I have worn almost everyday of my life. It started out as a family thing and I never stopped as I got older. I don’t wear jewelry as a rule(maybe a ring)but that I do.
Bargrove - I am not sure what you meant by “earlier this evening”, but today has seemed to go on much longer for me. Usually days just speed along, but I have gotten lots done today.
Cleo what about me? I have something to celebrate here! Yes I have been a Brett Favre fan since he came on board at Green Bay, and I’m still a Packer fan, long story, won’t bore you, but I have ranted enough over these months that you should know. Nothing against the Packer team, just the PACKER MANAGEMENT, i.e. Ted Thompson, Mark Murphy and *coach Mike McCarthy the puppet! *
Yeah it was dark here at 5:30 and the sun was out and the sky was blue! In a couple weeks I’ll be leaving work at 4:30 and it will be dark out! I HATE WINTER!!!
Anytime that I can be up in the top of a young ladies list I am happy. It doesn’t matter what kind of list just as long as it isn’t the sh*t list. LOL I end up on that list more often than I care to admit.
I too like the winter solstice. Usually a party involved with artist and actor friends and musicians, so a very interesting evening mixed with local old timers and just a community of diverse individuals. Love it.
Terry - I wish that you could see the workshop that I was talking about last night. My friend, who is a recently retired dentist, has created this work space for restoring cars and also having fun. He has a pool table and ping pong all down under his house which he had lifted. If you didn’t see my post last night, it is pretty cool. He is now, in his retirement, living his dream. He is presently restoring a very limited edition Lincoln.
Terry - I have nothing to do with it, other than showing up. I have two friends, a couple, who are both artists. He is involved with plays, movies and sculpting and she is involved with social work and batique art. They are both active in the community so they have friends in all spectrums, from artists to farmers and everyone is invited. Their parties are magical because they transform over the course of an evening. First to arrive are the farmers, because they have to get up early for chores, then other locals will arrive, who work in 9 to 5 jobs. Later the actors and musicians will arrive. They tend to work late because their jobs are night oriented. So over the course of an evening the mood will change many times, from subdued to wild and crazy. It is great because everyone is being themself.
Thanks everyone for all the hugs, etc.
It has been a busy day for me, and to make matters worse, our internet was down for several hours.
This whole week will be extra busy, so I’ll be on the scarce side.
Congratulations, Serena, on your 34 years! We will be married 40 years next march, and are trying to think of something momentous to do. Any ideas? I’m Las Vegased out, if that helps any.
Marg - For your anniversary consider the west coast of Vancouver Island between Tofino and Eucuelet. There are some wonderful oceanfront lodges and places to eat and rugged coastline. I love it there.
I stood on a cliff above Wreck Bay on Vancover Island and looked down on a jellyfish that had a top area that was about the size of a round dinner platter and tentacles that were at very least 10’ long. I was so glad that I wasn’t in the water.
Comments at Green Bay Press Gazette ARE QUITE INTERESTING! Left that comment forum after Brett went to the Jets, came back tonite to see what was up, I was still able to log in to my surprise! Interesting, VERY interesting!
Yeah, the days of crossing the border with just your driver’s license are long gone! I agree, bleep terrorists! Do they have a travel program for them, too? Maybe we could “microchip” ‘em???

Oooh, I’ve said too much! And I certainly won’t be telling any of those stories here. Carmy, I like Scheffler, I think that he is a very underrated tight end. It doesn’t matter though, because my midseason pick for champion is Terry, nobody has come close to beating him in weeks!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
oh johnny, johnny, johnny! If you don’t tell us, we’ll imagine all sorts of things! I already know what I’m thinking!
Oh lets’s not bring up Scheffler, shall we? And thanks, now I understand your good luck message, in other words, I have a snowballs chance in H e l l of beating him this week!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Doc, slip of the tongue to make a point! :-D

Is FHIG making trouble again?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
MoPar ladies, (term used loosely! I resemble that remark!
johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
No worries MoPar! If you read my first statement, you can get idea of what happened. And the ladies here always are in jest, the females that are at Michigan, one could hardly call “ladies.”
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Cleo, my good man, MoPar besmerched my good name, what are you going to do about it, huh? :-(
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
@johnny AH HA! I see said the blind man!
Bargrove about 15 years ago
Question for you food wizards. What is the difference
between a whoopee pie and a moon pie. (No mooning
humor now)
What did I wear for Halloween? Well, I taped a dollar
on each lobe and went as a buck-an-ear. Yuck yuck
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
MoPAr #’s 2 and #5, and #4 for the voice! Does that answer your question, kind sir?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Oh and you may want to add, HOT as in taste in food, ie hot peppers, hot sauce!

cleokaya about 15 years ago
Hello Tabby & Dawn. Yes Dawn the weather is wonderful. You got to love the NW. Where else can a weatherman make a prediction of wind and rain for Halloween, be totally wrong and still pull in big bucks. After all the gray, rainy days I am really appreciating these sunny days.
DawnAvril about 15 years ago
Cleo, I do agree! We sat at the window this morning and watched a varied thrush and northern flicker dance around in the maple leaves. Guess they were finding bugs, but it was sure fun to watch.
tabbylynn about 15 years ago

bmonk about 15 years ago
Dry, browse for images, save one you like to your computer, and then upload it.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Dry, I am not that good at guessing saints.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
The Saint I have for an avatar I have worn almost everyday of my life. It started out as a family thing and I never stopped as I got older. I don’t wear jewelry as a rule(maybe a ring)but that I do.

I have been hard at work making Nova Scotia cod cakes and chow chow. Lots of chopping, but I think that they are going to be great.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
If I was going to use a Saint it would be St. Francis, because I am heavy into feeding the birds. We have St. Francis as part of our yard art.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Am I right Dry, you have a mild interest in Brett Favre? snerk.
Bargrove about 15 years ago
Cleokaya; Thank you very much for the link on whooee
and moon pies. It was very interesting.
Is there something in the air that makes everything
seem earlier this evening?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Another snifter of Booker’s for the tallest St. in the Tribe (as far as I know).
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Bargrove - I am not sure what you meant by “earlier this evening”, but today has seemed to go on much longer for me. Usually days just speed along, but I have gotten lots done today.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Cleo what about me? I have something to celebrate here! Yes I have been a Brett Favre fan since he came on board at Green Bay, and I’m still a Packer fan, long story, won’t bore you, but I have ranted enough over these months that you should know. Nothing against the Packer team, just the PACKER MANAGEMENT, i.e. Ted Thompson, Mark Murphy and *coach Mike McCarthy the puppet! *
NOW WHERE IS MY BOOKERS, SIR??!!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Howdy Doc.
One large snifter of Booker’s for the exuberant Dry. May your end zone dance be wild and funky.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Doc - Maybe it has something to do with turning the clocks back.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hello Cleo
**Wolfangil’s favorite saint is Saint Francis of Assisi. She loves the animals.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Bargrove - Ah yes, I am indeed dense. I now know what your were talking about.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Hello Doc
I actually catch you before you skedaddle for the night!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I knew that I would like Wolfangil. :-)
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Terry - How did your teams do today?
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo–Da Bears won, the Steelers had a bye, Penn State & Illinois won yesterday.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, at first I thought you were talking about my fantasy teams.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Doc, the only mess up for me with the time change is it getting dark too early!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Terry - It could have gone either way, but I was more interested in the teams you usually root for. I give up on the Seahawks, Huskies and Cougars.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, after telling Wolfangil about your yard art with Saint Francis, she says your up in the top of her list too. LOL
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Yeah it was dark here at 5:30 and the sun was out and the sky was blue! In a couple weeks I’ll be leaving work at 4:30 and it will be dark out! I HATE WINTER!!!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Anytime that I can be up in the top of a young ladies list I am happy. It doesn’t matter what kind of list just as long as it isn’t the sh*t list. LOL I end up on that list more often than I care to admit.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I have got to go and start frying cod cakes. Hopefully BL.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Dinner sounds good about now!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Well Doc, only strange weird people like winter! SNERK BACK AT ‘YA!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago

johnnydoc5 about 15 years ago
I think that it is time that I headed off to bed. Early start to the week… like every week. Good night all, and peace and love.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I too like the winter solstice. Usually a party involved with artist and actor friends and musicians, so a very interesting evening mixed with local old timers and just a community of diverse individuals. Love it.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Man, those cod cakes and that chow chow were excellent. Lots of chopping, but such wonderful flavors. Oh…how I love food.

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, sounds like a great time with the winter solstice party and activities.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Night (((((Tabby!)))))
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Terry - It is. I have some very gifted friends and a good time is guaranteed. Usually a group of us will get together and sing old maritime songs.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo Do you do this every year?
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Terry - I wish that you could see the workshop that I was talking about last night. My friend, who is a recently retired dentist, has created this work space for restoring cars and also having fun. He has a pool table and ping pong all down under his house which he had lifted. If you didn’t see my post last night, it is pretty cool. He is now, in his retirement, living his dream. He is presently restoring a very limited edition Lincoln.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, I saw the post last night and yes, that is a dream come true for many.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
I have two Lincolns………a 1983 Mark VI and a 1970 Mark III.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Cleo, Those are the types of parties that are most enjoyable. Where you can be yourself and the events are ever changing. Keeps boredom at a minimum.
margueritem about 15 years ago
Man, I have an hour to kill before I have to take my shower, since the comics won’t flip until 11:00 now.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Good Evening Dear Marge!
margueritem about 15 years ago
Dry, I see that you’re a saint now, too! St. Joseph?
margueritem about 15 years ago
And Terry’s a saint, wow this might rub off on me!
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Terry - It is also interesting meeting people from totally different backgrounds from your own.
Smiley Rmom about 15 years ago
Thanks everyone for all the hugs, etc. It has been a busy day for me, and to make matters worse, our internet was down for several hours. This whole week will be extra busy, so I’ll be on the scarce side.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Marg–That be Saint Christopher.
Cleo–I was more or less thinking that when mentioning the events changing through the “party”.
margueritem about 15 years ago
Sorry to hear about you loss, RRAMom.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Marg–I am NOT a Saint. Just displaying my favorite. I am crouching from any stray lightening! LOL
margueritem about 15 years ago
Congratulations, Serena, on your 34 years! We will be married 40 years next march, and are trying to think of something momentous to do. Any ideas? I’m Las Vegased out, if that helps any.
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Rmom–I hope you don’t stress yourself too much through this. That never helps. Stop by when you have the time, if just to say “hello”.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
*Terry * - gotcha. And you are correct.
Rmom - Good luck with your days ahead. It is never easy.
margueritem about 15 years ago
Terry, St. Christopher, the patron Saint of travelers, correct?
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
margueritem about 15 years ago
I think I’ll take my shower now anyway, so BB in time for the flip.
margueritem about 15 years ago
BBL!
COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Marg, Yes ma’am that is correct.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Marg - For your anniversary consider the west coast of Vancouver Island between Tofino and Eucuelet. There are some wonderful oceanfront lodges and places to eat and rugged coastline. I love it there.
cleokaya about 15 years ago
I stood on a cliff above Wreck Bay on Vancover Island and looked down on a jellyfish that had a top area that was about the size of a round dinner platter and tentacles that were at very least 10’ long. I was so glad that I wasn’t in the water.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago
Marg Yes Saint Joseph, but I changed back in case I missed midnight, the end of All Saints Day, and not to break any “rules”.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member about 15 years ago

COWBOY7 about 15 years ago
Tell me about it. I used to drive across the border for vacations. No problems back then!
The Duke 1 about 15 years ago
Yeah, the days of crossing the border with just your driver’s license are long gone! I agree, bleep terrorists! Do they have a travel program for them, too? Maybe we could “microchip” ‘em???
